That's pretty much why I started my garden. The mindset shift from consumption to production is easier than outright ignoring my love for the plant. My plan is to give my yields away to my family and smoke maybe a couple times a year. YMMV.

I'm not so experienced, but from what I read ph swings can tell us a lot about what the plants are doing, so my thinking is that dampening them might give us less information than we would otherwise have available.

Thanks, Aqua Man! I think the overwatering frequency is solved. The pots get very light within 2 or 3 days with the new soil and smart pots, but based on the video you posted, I'll see what they do drying out a little more. I'll stop watering to runoff as that bit about washing nutrients away...
