Could Air Stones Be Doing More Harm Than Good?

I've found that 72F - 73F water temps are best (this includes using Hydroguard and Aquashield). It's just a matter of not cutting corners on your chiller. Chillers are expensive (and emit heat/best to have outside flower area, obviously), but they are crucial in RDWC. It's an investment that...

Mini Split Condenser In Locations With Below Freezing Temps

Thanks for the replies guys. I will ask my HVAC tech his thoughts as he's 420 friendly and I'm sure he's either dealt with it and/or had the question asked to him. One other person told me they have a Tyvec insulation "mini frame" than can be slid over the condenser itself. It's a great idea...

Mini Split Condenser In Locations With Below Freezing Temps

I'm struggling with planning the AC situation for my next 12 light setup as it will be in an area that can get to -10F or colder in the winter months. Most condensers on mini splits I've seen are rated to 5F minimum operating temp. I'm quite certain I'll have freezing problems if the condenser...

Buying the correct fan speed controller.....

PHRESH Hyperfan with included, custom speed controller = The Bomb! Very quiet as well. I have several (as well as their filters which are smaller, lighter, and work much better than any of the other cans I've used). I will only use Phresh for the foreseeable future.

Could Air Stones Be Doing More Harm Than Good?

^^^ Have you seen pre-flower pistils on the right plant? If I had to guess, I'd say the left plant is female and the right one is male. The left plant does appear a bit droopy though...I would initially say it's from lack of oxygen, but your system is essentially an ebb and flood, so that...

Could Air Stones Be Doing More Harm Than Good?

I like your thoughts on mods. I may seriously going this route with my next setup, DIY style. Only problem with DIY is that each site would need two bulkheads. Not only are they pricey (not a big deal), but than means two holes in your plant sites = 2x more possibility of leakage...

how do you remove the chloraphyl taste from butter?

The BEST Way: don't boil and dump as mentioned above. When you are boiling your product/water/butter and awaiting evaporation (I allow 5 - 7 hours for slow evaporation/max binding to fats), prepare the appropriate sized tupperware container. First cheesecloth strainage goes into tupperware...

Could Air Stones Be Doing More Harm Than Good?

I have no use for air stones in my RDWC, plenty of circulation from main pump as you'll see in vid below. They just add unnecessary heat and a spaghetti mess of hose lines. (However, stones are great for independent mother totes, etc.)...and I agree with poster above, I've never felt the need...

Design Of A Rwdc Room - Questions

Might help just to watch these two multi-part series to get the idea of setting a DIY RDWC up. Bigger doesn't necessarily mean harder. Actually, the bigger the better (and I'm not talking about harvest). The more water volume you have in a system, the more stable your pH will be. Think of a...

Design Of A Rwdc Room - Questions

Sorry man, way too busy to do a parts list. Really, very basic (for bigger setup): 50 gallon rez, 14 gallon plant sites (however, since that setup, I've found 10 gallon sites are plenty big and cut down overall water volume, nutrient usage, etc). Nice, big, reliable main pump (Reeflo are the...

Design Of A Rwdc Room - Questions

I've found CC systems to be far too overpriced for what they really are. And I was always scratching my head wondering why they didn't used to use bulkheads. I guess it's because I keep reef tanks than I have always felt comfortable with DWC/RDWC (over 10 years now) and have never had root...

1000 Watt RDWC Gorilla Tent, T5 Pre Veg, T5 Mother Area, Cloning Station

We shall see, brother. Looking good so far....Thanks for the props. As stated, I'll be changing a few things on the next go round, will hopefully be better and even more uniform. Some sins of heat stress on this first, pheno run (the orange have some browned leaf margins...guessing the stress...

Pheno Hunt - Paradise Seeds Ice Cream

My first attempt at a scrog. Learned a lot and will make adjustments next round. I didn't take into account how, as the plant grew, it would push the lower net upward, into a dome shape. This limited the distance for my upper, bud support net. Next time I will keep the bottom net even lower and...

1000 Watt RDWC Gorilla Tent, T5 Pre Veg, T5 Mother Area, Cloning Station

Still growing my man. Takes a long time to do a proper pheno hunt (I planted original 19 seeds in late March). Day 38 of flower right now running 5 phenos, but I will only be keeping two of those 5 phenos. I have 3 "purple" mothers, and two "orange" mothers as they are the clear stand outs...

Pheno Hunt - Paradise Seeds Ice Cream

Thank you for the kind words. I've now narrowed it down to two phenos (the new clones are all purple and orange tabs) and I have mothers of each in two, separate bins in case one goes south on me. The other phenos are producing nice flowers, but the purple and orange are the clear stand outs...

Yes, the "purple" and "orange" (the colors of the tabs I'm using) phenos are the clear stand outs. All new clones are purple and orange. 19 seeds now narrowed down to two phenos. I have mothers of each in two, separate bins in case one goes south on me. Thanks for checking it out!
