keep the light closer next time, after they sprout up and the leaves begin opening
and yeah you can bury them when transplanting i just prefer just not to have this problem cause im not sloppy and its easy to avoid it.
A lot depends on spectrum. If you use a cool white compact fluorescent or blue leaning florescent bulbs. Anything more blue will keep them shorter. I do mine under a 3k and they stretch pretty well even when I managed to light burn 3 of them. Look at the front 2 on the left and far right front I cooked 3 of em and they stunted for over a week.

I’m a newbie grower aswell but one thing I’ve learnt is they are tough little bastards

I dropped a newly germinated seed about 4ft off a table on to a concrete floor... after 30 mins of panic I planted it

Now it’s 20ish days old 💪🏻💪🏻

You are only talking about the front 2 correct?

Three weeks in

Quick update, have been feeding with nutrients for a few days (only just now I put in 700ml at 200ppm) and have been turning the light up gradually.

The three blanks look like they won't crack which is probably more my fault than Barney's.

The plant transplanted is just starting to establish roots through the big block which I'm happy with.

DAY 17

10 seeds in and 1 dead, my fault... was measuring the distance from my light and the tape measure dropped hit a seed and bent it. It happened a few days ago and I wanted to see if I could get away with it... I didn't. Another lesson learnt the hard way.

I decided to take the big streched fella out of the clay pebbles and transplant to a larger rockwool cube (this will be its final place). Reason I moved it? I just couldn't gauge if the small rockwool plug was wet / dry because the clay pebbles covered it and it was always going to need moving at some point.

When I transplanted from clay pebbles to larger rockwool I had to pick each individual pebble out and came across some slightly dry roots which I wet before I moved so I didn't accidentally break. I then placed the plug in the already soaked cube and updated the support with a skewer.

The 3 seeds that haven't "popped" yet... I looked at each individually and carefully replaced into new starter plugs. Hopefully we see them grow because the other 6 have (despite my best fuck ups).

Also, had a visit in the grow, anybody know what it is please?

Bud đź‘Ť
Have you seen anymore of those visitors in your setup? Hopefully it’s not a fungus gnat.

I'm using the Alien aeroponics and rockwool.

You think I should transplant them into larger cubes and put them in the system?

Bud
Once I see a plant get its second set of serrated leaves in and roughly as long as the first, i figure I can transplant.

Since I added a small amount of nutrients to the RO water and gradually turning the light up I've noticed a huge spike in growth.

Tomorrow they come off the heat pad and into the areoponic system.

Thanks for every bodies advice so far, tomorrow I start the next stage.

As for the three seeds that didn't crack, any thoughts?

SEEDLING TO VEG

Moved the 6 girls that cracked into the areoponic setup with clay pebbles. They all got transplanted in the same cubes (5 starter cubes and the 1 large cube).... let's see how it goes.

I'm using Remo Nutrients and almost made the mistake of using the online calculator, not sure if it was me but in the end I used my reservoir at 75ltrs of RO which is just under 20 US gallons and took the advice on the pack (I know):

Micro = 99ml
Grow = 99ml
Velokelp = 99ml
Magnifical = 99ml

Achieved 400ppm

The system will feed the plants every 30 minutes for 30 seconds.

All 6 lights have been turned on at the same level now.

Noticed this on a plant, I have done some research and think it might be calcium deficiency. Any thoughts?
