yes, the 420Cup (as any other blind-judging context) is far more valuable when it comes to select good pot.
But the HTCC is the biggest and most fun cannabis event on the calendar, something every smoker and grower should try once in their lives.
It's awesome to see so many people in Amsterdam at the same time, racing through the coffeeshops and smoking huge amounts of pot, and partying together.
The concerts are grat, the atmosphere is killer....
people make friends with total strangers in less than a minute, and before it's all over the crews are tighter than they have ever been.

While I was there, I had nowt to do with the Cup until Friday when I hooked up with Mrhaze and Danny Danko at the GHS.
What amazed me was that the upstairs of the GHS was full of the glitterati of the scene and there just wasn't all that much weed being smoked, the Dutch lady who does the TV reports took my lighter and to my disgust when I looked round, they were all smoking cigarettes.
Never saw Arjan, Derry or Franco with a joint at all, apart from that big one Franco rolled that tasted like burning hair. I spent a little while chatting to the girl with the green top, dreads and henna tattoos, and she was a lot cuter in the flesh than in Franco's pics, but that whole crew of people weren't doing much weed smoking at all!
I bought a fair few samples of CS weed and with the odd exception, it was bad, the LA Con from Tweede Kamer and 420haze were the highlights, I thought the 420Haze was a pheno of SSH, or perhaps NL5/Haze. The GHS Haze entry was poor indeed, and the Utopia Haze was bad too, to me this year, it seemed there was a whole lot of vaguely lemony average at best Haze of one type of another floating around.
Karma's Happy Brother dry sift, IBL's Oil and Devil's Harvest's Devil's Dust hash were the best things I smoked, the only weed highlight I can really remember was the Chocolope. Wasn't impressed at buying Sour Diesel and getting PP, same with the Trainwreck sample I bought, that was PP too. Also seems there is no good blueberry left to be had in the Dam, the samples I tried were probably Soma's Lavender as that had that light floral lavender taste and none of the lovely berry ness or the great high, mediocre indeed.
Amsterdam had got terribly expensive, this will probably be my last visit for a long while, the whole thing was pretty mediocre.

i agree with franco ,
i used to take to much time constantly bitching about it .... now i just enjoy the cup , the parties and people . the weed actually comes second ..... it would be wrong to assume an event as big as the cup would reflect the true views about strains and cannabis .... the people that attend seem to be on a holy grail .... if it was so serious there would be little for the newbie . and it would be a smaller affair ......
