I know what you mean hogan... sometimes its a bit frustrating. I am going to be running some coco side by side from now on in case my UC doesnt pull through for me.

crossttii, you ever ran coco? I never have, yet...

I was thinking about running my original 28" manifold om 35" centers. 10 sites total, then 10 maybe 5-10 gallon containers under the other row of 5k.... should be nice, but I need to find some guidance on the coco shindig!

I'm also considering changing it up! This is bullshit! I'm cruisin along and and bam! Dried up burnt leaves all over. Nothings changed. I'm tired of chasing problems. I may just go back to rockwool and coco mattes! I mean they look crazy and big but it seems they are always deficient or over fed. Nine weeks in and thousands of dollars later... tough call but I may pull the plug soon.

I hear you. I def needed to pull this grow off. By design the system is crazy simple, you really do use way less food. Its easy to run and clean. The problems Ive had are all fixable and I know I can do much better. I made mistakes... they just wont go away. The guys at cch2o are great and because of their support, my gut feeling is to try and I know I "should" do well. There simply is no room for error, NONE! The thing is, what is normal for growing, is def a no go in this system. Ph adjustments, high increases in feeding, or a simple new product can cause total failure and that makes it a tough learn. Im 25 days from harvest and soon as I do, my room gets a small makeover and Im on to additional things.

It's rockwool and mats for me on my next run. I can't deal with the plants stalling out on me. If it goes off flawless it gives great results but so does everything.

good point bubba. In soil I did well, just veg takes so damn long.

I ran more then a few years ago with heavy perlite. I am going to be running the same thing. I might switch off every other flower or do half and half. I am not sure. The thing I love about the UC is you can just cruise along with not a lot to maintain. I always had done drain to waste with perlite/coco mix so Ill just do the same. I feel like I am going back to my begginings but have a lot more insight now on maintaining environment lol.

Everybody having issues needs to give it a couple runs. When I first started the system I was running into issues all the time the same ones you guys are dealing with. All the issues are coming from user error and if you can figure it out you will be smooth sailing. Ya cant give up on your first run come on, once you figure it out the system is so easy to run it just runs itself. I leave town for a week at a time and come home to lovely plants every time.

Heres what I do exactly and I have had 0 issues in well over a yr with RO water
Never add anything straight to the epi center ever
When I do add backs or ph adjustments I fill a 5 gal bucket with RO water add in my nutes or phs and slowly add about 1 gallon at a time about 15 mins apart. I usually only do add backs once a weeks. My ppms go down about 200 ppm in 5 days which is perfect then I add back nutes. When I add back nutes its mostly base nutes and cal-mag(1ml per gal) if I'm in bloom I only add back a tiny bit of boosters like 1/8 of the original dose thats it. Ive been doing nute change outs every 2 weeks in flower and the plants are way happier than before. The system doesnt need the change outs and they will grow but when you do change em out every 2 weeks the plants are much happier and there less a chance on build up. I have never flushed with plain water or a flushing agent just drain the nutes and refill with fresh nutes. When refilling always mix your nutes up before adding to the system. If your filling your system up with plain water and then adding in your nutes its not going to be good. All them chems need to be mix very good. OH ya I never use more than 3ml per gal of cal-mag and they are happy all the time.

I only run RO water in my topoff rez. I dont care how good people do with nutes in there top off its much much safer to just add water.

I have ran about 4 different nute brand threw the UC and they all pretty much work the same. There is no miracle nute, base nutes are pretty much base nutes. Less is more for sure in this system.

I recommend anybody who is having trouble to try running DM Gold, cal-mag and zone for veg and DM Gold, cal-mag,bigbud and zone for bloom. Its simple and they will be very healthy and you will yield well (1.5#s per 1k) No need for all the fancy stuff simple is better.

Good luck and I hope a couple of you use my advise and give that nute mix a try you wont regret it

Hey BG,

Have you run into problems by having nutes in your top off rez?
I know UC recommends using nutes in the top off rez.
It seems some people do and some don't.

BG,
Thats good info. I am still keeping and running my uc. I still have a 2nd evo9
Im starting in a couple weeks. For my home meds I am going to change to a 10xxl on 28" centers and add 10, 5-10gal coco's under my other lights for back up.

I'm def not giving up, just gonna split 50/50 uc/coco.

If I understand what ur saying, you mix nutes and add back each week, roughly"? Letting your top off fill straight r.o. and never really a nute replacement either?

My room looks good. Ill load more pics and you guys will laugh because things look good. Im a perfectionist and if they're not perfect, there's a prob. The ph/rot caused me to lose major performance... I cant have that. But it def dont mean Im giving up!! No quit here man!

I do a complete nutrient change out every 2 weeks in bloom. I do add backs to the system roughly 2-3 times in between the change outs.
I never run nutes in my top off rez plain RO water

Updated pics. raspberry kush.

The large middle has this tip burning and off the wall burnt splotchy areas. The other raspberry plants have none. 2 are perfectly healthy and 2 are kinda light in color and kinda weak.

Ack. On most they have this light ridge burn and leaf curl.

I would normally say its over fert but Ive never been past 650 and that was only for 3 days and when they looked the best. The remainder of life has been about 350-480.

This burn and twist came about when I had to add back ph up, to combat the fall. Normal fresh water could have never raised it fast enough!
