I think the trick is finding a strain that will grow arm size colas with minimal branching.
( They also have to branch well if topped for clone mothers)
That will produce at 1 oz per gallon of medium.
Find that strain / phenotype and the rest is dialing in and overall harmony of your garden.
In my experiences light is light but a plant is not just a plant.
A typical MJ strain will yeild 15 - 20 grams in a typical enviorment.
Dialed in and pushed hard maybe 28 grams but you really have to work hard for it.
Then there are strains you barely touch, feed on a schedule and they produce 28+ grams in a typical grow room and are easy to grow and potent as hell.
I think if im being honest the heaviest producers are the simplest ones with great vigor easy to please and happy to produce. You just have to find that strain.
I also think 600 for a 3x3 is plenty.
