I think the weight is slightly improved with bigger and better main colas. Unless you plan on blasting or making edibles, the larf isn’t worth having around
Your early pics the plants look cal/mag deficient, just fyi.I think I have way to many branches in the canopy. Each plant has 8 to 12 main colas but then an extra 8 to 12 smaller sub-branches. Every lollipoped and pruned multi-cola plant I've seen has a total of 8 or 12 colas and thats it.
I'm a week into flowering and wondering if I should remove all the smaller undergrown branches so I only have colas left?
If you need photos I'll post some tomorrow, it's a little late and lights out. It's so full in there the plants are growing into eachother and pushing against the walls of the tent.
Thanks!!
Just put a sign says people caught here after dark will be found here in the morning.I know it sounds crazy to share with my neighbors but it was something I felt I had to do. They've all known since my first grow and have had no issues. I actually speak to them about it and they ask me question very regularly. All of them are older mature people with families who have professional careers.
I'm running gelato 33 now, so I know what u mean. It becomes a monster bush. People who grow well, grow the same strain multiple times to get it down right. It's just usually when you see photos of topped plants you only see 8 or 10 branches that are huge but no smaller ones with them. I'll add a photo later when I get back from the dog park.
Day 21 I would just defoliate hard. 3-5 fans per lead. Again on day 42. Be aggressive with it. I think u can see your plants are in the zone (nice job by the way) they are barely going to flinch when u do it. But it's better to get them all at once right before lights off than to span it over a few days. Here's a number of photos. The little bit of yellow spotting on the leaves is from PWM treatment not nutes, happened the next morning.
I have a close up of one where you can see the tops and then the branches on the edges that are a bit lower. I'm wondering if I should just get rid of everything not within a few inches of the canopy?
It doesn't put them into shock. This stage of growth is fast and furious...it's directly related to your yield. Pruning a week after the flip will slow them down in that phase, lowering the yield. It's the reason people don't lollipop after the flip.Cleaned, pruned and everything lower than 2/3rds height removed. I've been a pretty heavy pruner and never had my girls go into shock. Infact most of the time after I pruned they have an explosion of growth. Guess we'll see what this gets me in a few days.

But next time you'll know that what it looks like now, is what it should look like after you lollipop it. Then let it get its legs back, then flip.
I've had meager results on my first grow which was a scrog. I had to throw out my second grow because it went for a up. This is my third grow and what I realized is that I had to listen to myself. That doesn't mean not listening to advice but learning what advice is bad, what advice is good and what advice is just opinion with no good or bad outcome.A friend of mine has an Uncle somewhere in Colorado. They have a grow op and dispensary, nope, don't know the name but I was lucky enough to sample their Gelato and it was really, really nice.Your grow is looking great, keep on keepin on! I'm looking at getting into DWC and reading your diary is kinda inspiring me to do it sooner than later. ;)
Thanks for sharing man, appreciated. The closest I've come to hydro was hempy buckets using perlite. That grow did pretty well but still had my eye on DWC.I've read enough now to be where I'm comfortable with the idea.I think it's about time to pull the trigger in the next couple grows.Hauling soil is getting a bit back breaking and messy.I've had meager results on my first grow which was a scrog. DWC is not easy or I'm just really bad but either way it's not the easiest. You have very little time to fix a problem but when you do you can fix it easy and fast. If your close to losing your plants you're really close. There's just so much more leway when using soil or the like.
It is very satisfying when you get it right but I spend everyday wondering if I'm going to make it to the end and if the cost will be worth the yield.
Good luck either way and if you're interested in what I did this time that worked so well I'm more than willing to share.
