My worm reactors...
20170820 105055

150g pots. I have one on a pallet. this will be the main worm reactor. I will throw maybe a handful in the black one just to get the compost ready to transfer next year. I may have to sell some worm castings lol

Here's the compost pile at the bottom of my yard where all the worm castings runoff. This is ready for a worm bin as is if I break it with a shovel. Its already half castings.

This spring we tested soil in veg. garden and amended as recommended..
I tilled just enough to scratch surface to knock out most of the weeds. We covered in landscape cloth and set individual emitters dripping for each plant, veggies of all sorts.
Was a bit hotter than normal so far here in the HIGH OH OH OH!!! so high mountain desert at 6200 foot
Was slow at first but now everything is kicking ass.
We have worked the soil for 16 years adding goat and chicken manure but never tested till last spring...
This fall will pull up cover, and plant a cover crop to crowd out the weeds..
Got monsters full and lush as can be..A top dress bucket now and again for containers but nothing for garden.
Was looking at label for age old organic liquid nutes. Says not for consumable crops..WTFs up with that??
IMO keep it simple let nature do its thing, we have manure as old as 10 years pure gold cant really over do..
Also live in grow paradise similar to Kush mountains, same elev. hot dry days windy, beats plants up makes em tough, cool evenings especially come fall...
I've seen your spot chickenman. I'm jealous AF. I live in a homeowners association county. No farm animals. Not even chickens allowed in my county. I pay fir chicken shit. Never thought I'd say that.

Gotta use what nature provides. Forest humus here

Anyone ever start seeing resin glands in vegative state? Weird.View attachment 731723

i couldent find what i was looking for ,but i found something.
Trichomes exist in many shapes and sizes, but there are three that appear most often on cannabis plants.

  1. Bulbous trichomes are the smallest of the bunch, and they appear on the surface of the entire plant. Bulbous trichomes are as small as 10-15 micrometers, which is tiny enough to only be comprised of a handful of cells.
  2. Capitate sessile trichomes are slightly larger and contain both a head and a stalk. These trichomes are quite a bit more abundant than their bulbous brethren, but cannot hold a candle to the bountifulness and size of the third trichome variety.
  3. Capitate-stalked trichomes range from anywhere between 50-100mm wide, meaning they’re much larger and can actually be seen by the naked eye. Their structure consists of a stalk comprised of epidermal and hypodermic feels that build up to a basal cell which attaches to a large gland head. This gland head, held together by a waxy cuticle layer, serves as the epicenter for cannabinoid and terpenoid synthesis.
so what you see are bulbous trichombs , not the capitulate stalked trichombs that you would see on cylaxes , and sugar leaves.

from my experiance these trichombs that your looking at are on the frostiest plants when they are so defined as yours are.

anyhow hope you find this interesting

We will see... @sun i appreciate the info. I hope.its not one of those phenos that is only good for rosin...you know small bud mass and lots of resinous leaves.

I'm a dirty hippy trying to clean up my act. I know clean is important to you guys. I know @Thejoeybrown keeps a spotless ship. I'm going to buy those sticky mats they use in clean rooms. Keep the dog hair out. I actually like the fact I can set stuff down my dirty old dregg filled bucket wherever and just keep some Lysol wipes around. This is the hydrofarm stuff.

I did water tight surgical folds in the corners. I do showerpans so that helps. It definitely no orca film but it will hold up as long as i correct creases i think the felt tacks would allow a little more wear and tear.

I found a good bit of info to help people understand why I feed coconut water and malted grains. This is what coconut water does for plants.

Organic, Kosher, Raw, Pure Coconut Water Freeze Dried Powder.

  • Stimulates cell division. *mitosis
  • Stimulates morphogenesis (shoot initiation/bud formation) in tissue culture.
  • Stimulates the growth of lateral buds-release of apical dominance.
  • Stimulates leaf expansion resulting from cell enlargement.
  • May enhance stomatal opening in some species.
  • Promotes the conversion of etioplasts into chloroplasts via stimulation of chlorophyll synthesis.

Malted barley grain has pretty much the same effect as well as feeding enzymes and carbohydrates to the soil.

I know I'm harping but I've noticed a better success rate from clones taken from a plant the day after a coconut water feeding. The release of apical dominance also has effect on this.

I guess I just kind of realized this but never realized why at the time.

Nematodes arrived today. Im going to apply them tomorrow. I also bought fly exterminator gnats. Honestly the spinosad is kicking all of their asses already. The more layers the better in my book.

I also finally broke down and bought a #50 Neptune harvest kelp meal. It will last a good while though. I found out I've been shorting them bad on top dress. I also have thrown the concept of spreading it evenly out the window. I just kind of tossed a half cup right around each plant.

The surrounding soil doesn't need top dress. Microbes will transport it but you want the majority of those nutrients to be made available on top of your root zone. Especially potassium as it is easily carried out of the soil by water.

I have it pulled back right now to get a shot but this is basically telling me the plant is about to explode and low and behold when I release that fan leaf it completely covers this branch. Branches coming from branches on a 2.5 week veg. I hate to try to explain why this beats defoliatian. People are fooled into thinking the light draws the branches out. What is happening is you are mutilating that cola so while it heals the apical dominance is shifted but growth is stunted because the plant still has to heal the damage. With coconut water and MBP you are triggering this shift all over the plant including the roots. So you are doing 0 stress while throwing apical dominance all throughout the plant. So you are stretching roots, developing branches, enlarging biomass all over. You are even strengthening stems. Coots has said it, no trellis required. Maybe a stake for his extra fat colas.

And there's the branching seedling of course.

Look at those leaf kicks. These girls were screaming at me. Sure enough they filled the 2 gallon pots out. I'm going to have to mix more soil tomorrow to TP the other 2. I ran out of lava rock. I'm sure theyre starting to get bound up. I was generous with worm castings vs compost in my mix. Oh my how they will flourish.

What's up bro. Everything's lookin good man. Honestly I'm looking forward to watching as that soil matures and you dial it in.

Check out my "no till Girl". Only quotes because I'm not tryin to be sarcastic or anything and I wasn't thinking of it in that way. I'm only saying that because:
She has not gotten ANY water for over a month. Absolutely nothing.
She has only received water 3 times in her life from seed
2 times were plain water. 1 time was Aloe/coconut water
I sowed her directly in ground. Didn't dig a hole add nutrients or store bought soil AT ALL
The times I watered she didn't even need it. I just felt I should but i stopped over a month ago
Anyway sorry for the long post. I think I'll brew her an Ewc tea and about mid flower give her a treat.
Other than that she doesn't have a single droopy leaf. A single burnt tip. And the color on her is absolutely amazing.
She's about 5'8"

Worm casting as rich as yours are all the plant needs. Phosphorus and nitrogen and potassium are actually brought to your root zone by the worms. Dude did you see the bottom of the hill in my backyard? If I could cut my trees down and start a no till garden I wouldn't have to add anything like you.

Here's a little more coconut water porno for you. Look at those branches break through the fan leaves lmfao.

And you know what's better than that beautiful bottle of bud swell...that old crusty sack of worm shit. What is worm shit...carbon...what is marijuana...a carbon based organism...see the connection. Sounds funny but even when you handle worm shit the minerals absorb into your skin. These are real electrolytes in carbonate form. Coots will talk for hours about worm shit. It's the skeleton key. It's similar to a flush for you. It rebalances anything. It will stop toxicities in their tracks. It increases a plants SAR. Increases terpenes and resin production. Endless list

Ya I saw that earlier. They are definitely thriving.
I do not doubt the power! Haha. My girls seemed to lover her coconut water treat a couple weeks ago.
Definitely gonna utilize a lot of the stuff I read on your thread and links as I progress the outdoor garden.
After this season my whole goal is to maintain it so I can have great results next year.

Just throw all your biomass waste down. It will be twice as fertile next year. It's cold fusion of soil fertilization. Obviously don't touch the root ball

I am not trying to prove anything. As a matter of fact I'm learning myself. I feel like this information is priceless and it needs to be out there. Coots did all the figuring for us. An old mountain boy who was an artisan bread baker/marijuana cultivator/scientist lmao.
