Whats happenin my fellow farmers! Im hopin some of you Advanced Nutrients experts out there could help a bruva out! Ive been using the BC line w/fox farm solubles in place of Awesome Blossoms for awhile now with great results, and anyone growing on a budget or that just dont wanna drop hundreds on nutes I highly recommend this recipe! But I recently had the oppurtunity to pick up a good amount of AN products at a great price and after hearing so many good things and the fact that its a Cannabis specific product I figured Id give it a shot.
After going thru all the individual bottles and seeing what all else I need to complete the line I realized that Im unforunately missing some of the most expensive shit!
Heres what I picked up:
Connoiseur A&B
Big Bud
SensiZyme
Rhino Skin
Overdrive
Final Phase
For 100 bucks that aint bad huh!
Anyway according to the AN site to complete the line I still need B-52, Bud Candy, Piranha, Tarantula, Voodoo Juice, and Bud Blood. Ive heard great things about Bud Factor X and Colossal Bud Blast so I was thinkin about throwing those in there too.
I was thinking about using Thrive Alive in place of B-52 and Open Sesame in place of Bud Blood, what do all the AN experts out there think about this?
Im kind of on a tight budget too so Im wondering if theres any products I could leave out without sacrificing too much on final quality/yield? Or should I just tighten my belt (or rob a bank) and just pick up the rest of the line?

hey man.. good list of nuts you got there,, I like using the hammer head too its a 9-18.. really good to finish off with this to harden off buds.. I like using vodoo and all with it but it goes to waste as you use a lot.. so to make the most out of it I fill 50 liter tank and buffer the ph to 5.8 then I add vodoo, piranha and tarantula ( you kill the bacterias off if the ph is above 6) .. in flower I also add bud blood in the first week.. then with a tank filled I use a pump and garden hose and hand water every rockwool cube.. nothing gets wasted and your lines won't block up... I do this 3 or 4 times and thats it after week 2 of flower then I power it with hammer head( that will stop the big stretch and bring the nodes closer) and then big bud and a final feed with hammer head again to harden off the buds..

Voodoo was $100 a qt, last time I looked.
They sell Tarancula & Piranah by the gram.

Stick with what's working for you. 'Budget' is good!
The guy in the store is 'selling' you 'stuff'.. as much as they can. If you change your rez out weekly, as they suggest, it will cost you ALOT of money
GH Flora is ??? ALOT cheaper and works just as well.

I like your nute list you must be in flowerig stage cause I dont see Sensi Grow A&B I am a junkie for AN expensve or not I am sold regardless of what people say so keep growing and stick with AN you wont be disappointed.

I really didnt start this thread for AN haters ta come on hear and bitch about how pricey it is and tell me that the damn lucas formula will give me results that are just as good. Everybodys got an opinion just like everybodys got an asshole but regardless of the price or ANYTHING anybody can say about Advanced they still remain to be the ONLY company that has the balls ta openly support our movement! That by itself should be more than enough ta get every single person on this site's full support whether financial or just moral. You can say what you want about em but if you call Gen Hydro and ask em about your pot plants theyll hang up on you! Yea AN is over priced but theyre an up and coming company that supports what we do and theyre the only ones PERIOD.
Voodoo is like $75 a liter, Connie is like $40 not $100. And please dont give me that "your grow shop guy is tryin ta sucker you into buying AN" bs, that "guy" at the grow shop is a friend of mine and took the time ta help me work out a feeding schedule chock full of substitutes that would help save me some cash even tho I didnt buy a single bottle of AN from his store!
Growing is all about trying new things, nutes, techniques etc, and trying to improve the efficiency and quality of our gardens. If folks wanna stick with the same ol Lucas formula or whatever formula and get the same old decent results time after time after time thats fine with me. But Ive seen with my own eyes Sensi w/jus a couple adds up against the lucas formula and the results w/the lucas formula just couldnt compare to the yield or quality of AN. And that wasnt even close to the whole AN line. Theres a hundred side by sides out there done by folks like us that prove this. Yea the lucas formula is super simple and it works if you just wanna grow the same ol decent herb but if you really wanna push the envelope and maximize the yield/quality that can be accomplished w/nutrients it just doesnt cut it IMO. I want you ta smell my herb from across the damn street, but thats just me....Yea I could stick with what works but then how would I ever know if something works better? Flourescents worked back in the 60s-70s but somebody finally tried something new that was way more expensive but it revolutionized growing with MH/HPS. What if they had just stuck with what worked???? Human beings are supposed to adapt and change, thats how you get better at doing what you do!
Whatever Im ramblin again I jus didnt start this thread for AN haters ta tell me that anything but the damn lucas formula is a waste of money.... But I just knew somebody was gonna do it!
I mean honestly think about it.... your obviously not gonna double your yields like AN advertises but if I even get a 10 or 20% increase that easily pays for itself! Plus if my plants look that much happier and give me a better quality or more potent smoke then anybody in their right mind would continue using it cuz its paying for itself plus some, its just common sense.
But foreal this will be my first time using AN and would really appreciate any input that could help me out.

You recieved an opinion, from me, about the cost of AN 'after' you're initial $100 dollar investment, that doesn't include all the nutes AN prescribes.

I do not 'hate' AN nutes... they may be better than some but are not better than all.

If you do not believe they are 'selling you', tht is your business.
If you want to go with AN.. good for you. 10-20%..
Nutes do not increase yield.

AN sucks but this might help you, bio-organic makes a product called landscaper's blend . It has both endo and ectos in it like piranha hell they might make it for AN. Ask your friend or fat Mike why would they use ectos when the only plants that use it are mainly evergreen trees. I asked Fat Mike this and all that came out of his mouth was shitty crap. But at least you can get it here a lot cheaper. 85 bucks for 3 lbs. You can also brew up your voodoo juice to make it last longer. JK
What is the dif between AN's 3 part and GH 3 part?

I'm not really sure you need to have ALL of those products to get started. I'm a firm believer in 'try a few, see what works, then add more if you're happy.'

Yes, the Advanced Nutrients site can be a little confusing because OF COURSE they want you to buy everything. That happens on every single site you shop on. But what you may not realize is that you really only need a base nutrient, some basic nutes - voodoo, b-52, and bud candy are faves of fellow growers - and that's about it.

Really, start small because if something goes wrong, then you can easily find out what did the damage. When you throw too much into the mix, that's where things get confusing and that's when things can begin to go wrong.

So, start with just a few things man. You'll be happier with the results and less stressed in the process.

Thanks for the POSITIVE feedback Malachi, this thread def needs it! Ive been plannin on tryin the roots excel, H&G seems ta give alotta folks some great results. I been usin hygrozyme for years but been givin sensizyme a shot cuz i got a couple bottles for half price (or maybe the grow shop guy just suckered me into it!) Havent tried calmag but i fly thru some magical, my little choc pheno is an absolute cal/mag hog man!

JK I def disagree that AN sucks, they might be over priced and make outrageous claims but they def do make very high quality products. Theres a million and 1 side by sides out there that prove it. Are they the best.... idk but theyre def up there. I really do appreciate the tip on the landscapers blend tho, ill def check it out. If its as good or better thatll help me save some cash. And I have no idea about the AN 3 part cuz i dont know anybody that uses it. Only results Ive seen with these 2 eyes are w/connie and sensi.

Whats happenin MH, your probably right Im sure I dont need everything and hell yea they want ya ta buy everything! But any time I try out a new nutrient line I like ta use the whole line together ta see how well it works for me. Then Ill get rid of things or substitute if I dont like the way a certain aspect of the feeding program is workin for me. But on the other hand if Im happy with the results Ill know that theyll just keep gettin better the more I get the program dialed in ya know. I think its kinda hard ta judge the results of a product by itself when its been designed to work in conjunction with a specific line of products. Regardless of all the promises and advertising BS used in marketing these nutrients, there's always a group of lab coats that perform hours of research trying to come up with products that give our plants exactly what they need ta thrive. I agree that you can get decent results using a base nutrient alone but the addition of dif boosters/additives only increases yield/potency. I mean do you think an olympic athlete just uses some basic vitamins and supplements. Nope they use the most advanced vitamins and suppements and training techniques in order to get into the best possible shape! And MH I like ta treat my girls like freakin olympic athletes and they love it! As much as high quality herb is worth these days anybody can afford to use high quality products, especially when they pay for themselves in yield or quality ya know

I owned a hydro shop for 3 years and got VERY tired of hearing how badly I was "trying to sucka" folks into buying this or that....as well as hearing "how much money" I was making.

truth was..i was working for FREE.....and the guys comin in with the stack of BENS who were accusing ME of extrem profit were the ones really cleaning up.

nuf of that tho. As you say...there are assholes everywhere....

I had a lot of time to check out different nutes.... AN being one.

One line I think folks should look into is GROTEK. Compare some of their offering to AN's...you'll be suprised. There are good substitutions there, IMO.

Gotta give AN props for standing tall and targeting their wares for MJ when all others are two-faced bastards.

i use advanced but as i find products that work as good or better i switch...for instance vodoo juice is no more than ceptic tank cleaner!!!for real no bullshit..thread on here with a good discussion about it...i also just priced up great white to try in place of pirahna..heard really great things,supposed to be way better :party0044:Burn

I really like ans products, just be sure to find out what ones the current version of what you want as they have some older products that have been replaced. The lucas formula is easy but not anywhere near the best. You def don't need to buy everything AN sells to get great results and some things are much cheaper elsewhere. That being said READ THE LABEL and use your brain, its almost all the same stuff. They tell you whats in it and how much. All you AN haters who scream about price do some research, for example, Ans humic acid costs me $30 for a 5% solution, everyone else is 1-3% and ranges from 15 to 20$, so yes an cost more up front, but it'll last longer. Similar products will work differently on different strains . If you cant back up you words with much other then fanboy/hater bs stfu and let the people with real experience give real advice.

I use all of the products on their list and I must admit that my plants look better than same strain/dif nutes. Bud factor X is great, just pricey. Waiting to see how Kushie Kush Helps.
BTW, For AN, you can save by buying online in bulk.

AN has really been life changing for me. Go for the beneficial s, tarantula, piranha, voodoo, and sensizime. I know other companies have comparable products but AN is the best I've used by far! Trust me, it's worth the money once you get it down. I use their organic line plus big bud and bud candy but I bet the conni a+b is great stuff.

SkyHigh whats happenin man, thankyou for the props and the info! Im pretty sure my buddy is in that same situation with his shop and if he makes anything after overhead its def not much. But he does do pretty well at his second job if ya know what I mean! Ha! Oh and I lied man, I did buy an AN product from him, I got 2 jugs of Sensizyme but since they just increased the potency of it he gave me 2 bottles of the original formula for the price of one. (whoops, there I go braggin again!) Yea he's def money hungry bastard alright! I mean there def are those shops that only respond to questions that can be answered with "buy this" but I been in the game long enough ta know the difference and def dont take my business ta places like that unless I absolutely have to. But Ill def have ta check into Grotek for some subs. What do you think about the Voodoo/Piranha/Tarantula anyways? I mean we did just have a decent harvest this week so Ill have a little cash if its worth it ya know? When used in hydroponics will they def help increase yield/potency, will there be a noticable difference? Do ya know of any good products that would substitute well for those (other than septic tank cleaner HA!)???
And I totally agree about the AN, I mean theyre the only Company with the balls ta support our movement. And they offer very high quality products so theres absolutely no reason why everyone that grows or smokes shouldnt support them. If you cant afford it or just dont wanna spend that much on nutes thats fine but moral support goes a long way in our industry, I mean word of mouth alone makes these companys a ton of cash! I really dont know why anyone complains about nute prices knowing how much herb goes for these days. I guess if you strictly grow for your own medical use it can be pricey but theres no reason why anyone that can grow for themselves cant grow a little extra ta cover costs, especially if your 100% legal ya know.
Burnalot whats up man, Great White is def on my list ta look into Ive heard some good things about it. You know of any side by sides or something that puts that up against Piranha? And whats makes you say Voodoo is just septic tank cleaner anyway????
Scooby Ive def been plannin on makin sure my bottles are the current formulas. Using that nute calculator with older formulas could def cause some probs! My buddy told me there working on making the dosage of all there products 7 mils per gal or liter ta make things easier. I guess thats part of that whole PH Perfect thing theyre workin on. And I know I dont NEED everything but I like ta use any line like the chemists designed it to be used ya know. That way I know how well it works. I hate finshin up a cycle and thinkin maybe if I used this or that I wouldnt have had that problem or my results wouldve been better. If Im gonna try a new nute Im gonna run the whole damn line! Almost every time Ive tried usin a few products out of a line I ended up seein deficiencys or somethin that I could tell my girls wanted and would end up havin ta use somethin ta fix it or pissed at myself for not droppin the extra loot for the whole line in the first place. And I feel ya on the potency of AN products bein higher than most, it ends up evening out. They need ta up the potency of the beneficals tho, Im gonna end up usin half a bottle of each this cycle and for 80-100 bucks a bottle they should def last thru a few cycles. I think once Advanced gets some more years under their belys and a lil more established their prices will come down. But every industry has ta have a company that sells expensive high quality products, and ours just happens ta be the only company that supports what we do!
And thankyou for backin me up on the AN hater BS! I was gonna say ta keep that shit off my thread in my original post but I figured that would just encourage it ya know but next time I will. Its funny I never see people that use AN hopping on Lucas or GH threads talking about how much the nutes suck and why nobody should use cheap ass high salt chemy crap ta grow medicine but I always see Lucas users telling everybody theyre wasting money getting suckered by the grow shop guy! Oh well, maybe Ill do a side by side journal w/AN against the Lucas Formula and maybe thatll shut everybody up but I doubt it.
