Behind Closed Doors .......... Yooper Style Growing.

The green is in reference to how the plants look. My 2 bottles are blue and brown. Yep on the brown and blue. The res is always blue after mixing.

Yesterday I gave `em all their final trim.
Today they are switched to the flowering cycle, that being 12 / 12 for the lights.
A couple of pictures for the enjoyment of the good peeps that have been following along.

I really can't wait to see how these girls turn out, I keep thinking I want to try this but, it seems like none of my clones ever look like a good candidate for it. Maybe it'll have to wait until I pop some seeds, I hope to do that before too long.

You know you want to!
It seems like the concept of mainlining blew up on this forum the past month or so.

It is Good/encouraging to see people getting out of their shells to try something new.

Whether the results are good or bad.
We still learn something from it.

All of my mainlined ones are from seed. My clones are the free growing ones, in the smaller pots.

Always learning, never too old, especially when it concerns cannabis.

From what I gather, it is a fair bit harder to do this method with clones since they do not grow as symmetrically as plants grown from seed. You can still top and train in a very similar manner though, just doesn't look as nice. I take clone before flipping so use the multiple toppings and extended veg period to try and match when the flowering period is coming to an end in the tent...sort of a perpetual style if you will.

I thought the whole point of mainlining was to make it so there was an exact, (near enough), distance to travel for nutrients coming up the stem to reach the flowers so, with the clones having such differences in nodal distance, it seems like you couldn't achieve the goal that mainlining is reaching for with them.
Then you have to consider putting all that work into something when you can't be sure how it'll be when starting from seed. It seems you would want to be running a very stable strain so you'd have a real good idea how it would be.

What works for me is to basically pick a height, say 12 inches up from the soil, then I just top and train to get the desired number of bud sites. Then you LST those branches over to grow at 90 degrees to get them to the edges of the pot and then let them go back to vertical growth. I honestly think the benefits are more on the canopy management side than a nutrient delivery one. It just doesn't make sense to me that a plant could/would deliver different nutrient levels assuming there isn't one clearly dominant main stem, even if the manifold isn't even the plant should push equal nutrition to all sites.

Yeah, you would think. I just remember reading that in the original mainlining thread.

Ah, its weed talk on the internet, there is good info there, you just kind of need to sort and filter. I liked everything about the idea, its just that I couldn't buy into the argument that it had to be a perfectly uniform manifold. That said, if going from seed...might as well keep it beautiful.

There are 4 different strains represented here (gotta make it hard on myself). It`s been sort of a PITA to do it this way, so I hope the results will make this style of growing worthwhile. It s added 2 - 3 weeks to get to the flip. We will see.

It`s that time again, time for the weekly update on this "mainlining" grow.
Next week the update will be late, if at all. I will be out of town attending the "Michigan Medical Cannabis Cup" for the third year in a row.
They all seem to be responding pretty well to the "mainlining" style of growing. A couple of them have had cages added for support, more will follow. The sativa dominant ones are the ones, the Ghost Train Haze #9`s. They are getting hard to tell apart, but look and see :
