Love the twist. I should hook you up with the Ancient if you like the twist. My homey and I were just taking about this. The twist will test as high as 31%, but the ancient kills it in yields. Similar flowers.

I have heard good things about Ancient, it is similar to the Archive OG I have supposedly. Twist is hard to beat though, great smell and flavor, good yield, our outdoor of it last year tested at 29.9% THC plus over 3% terpenes.

We have some Watermelon Rancher x Sour Diesel and Watermelon Rancher x Mendo Pineapple that are looking really nice; very unique smell. Unfortunately I think my greenhouse run will finish too late to enter into the cup, which sucks since they are looking to be some of the best buds this year.

Based off what won and did not win at the Emerald Cup last year, I think you have the best shot by entering something unique. So as much as I love the Twist, I know a lot of people have it at this point as well which puts it at a disadvantage.

Oh, I was in the last issue of Hydro Life Magazine as well:

Our collective is also being featured in the upcoming "California Farmers Showcase" in Santa Rosa as one of their picks for the best of the best of 2016's harvest.

Really rewarding to see all our hard work pay starting to pay off. We put a heck of a lot more TLC into our plants than most growers do, especially outdoor growers, and it makes me smile to see people picking our organic sun grown buds over indoor time and again.

What I like about this industry is that it leans towards being a meritocracy. Putting in the work with Attenion to detail.

Thanks Greentrees88! I actually don't do anything too crazy with the soil amendments, I always just follow what the label says, though usually at the higher amounts if it is variable. I don't like mixing anything too hot into my soil either - which is why I am a big fan of amendments like feather meal, bone meal, etc. Slow release amendments provide a nice steady supply of nutrients for the whole season and the plants just use what they need when they need it, with no risk of burn. Any fast release nutrients like bat guano I always just top dress with. It is very rare that I ever use any sort of liquid fertilizers except to foliar feed with, though I do soil drench once a month with a few store bought products designed to encourage the soil biology.

I try to get my soil, compost and manure at least a few months before I need it so it has time to cook and cool off. I always buy enough to last me at least 2 years every time I purchase something, so it is nice and mellow when I go to use it. I shoot to have the soil prep done a good two weeks before the planting date.

I don't every try to 'push' my plants like a lot of growers do. Over applying nutrients or soil amendments does far more harm that good and does NOT get you bigger plants. My philosophy with my garden has always been in line with Liebigs Law of the Minimum, also known as The Law of Limiting Factors. Plant performance is not determined by the most abundant resource, but by the most deficient one. Plant growth and performance is held back by limiting factors in the environment. Remove or reduce your limiting factors, and allow mother nature and your plants to do the rest - never 'push' them.
Great approach, farmer.

Hi there Blaze. You indicated earlier in the thread that you ran CSI humboldt's cornbread bubba, and mendocino purple kush this year. I was wondering if these were feminized seeds, and what experiances you had with them.

Yes they were both feminized seeds. I really liked the CSI genetics I did in my greenhouse but I am not sure if I will grow the Mendocino Purple Kush or the Cornbread Bubba outdoors again. Both have proven to be mold and mildew magnets, I had to pull in several of both the MPK and CB this week because the main top colas were starting to mold. They strike me as better strains for indoor or light dep where you have better humidity control.

A former professor of mine came out for a tour as well, he has been tapped by both the county and the state to help develop a cannabis IPM program. It was nice to catch up with him, and I got some solid information in regards to control of certain pests to implement next year.

By all means PLEASE share the wealth

Thanks for the reply Blaze. We are fortunate that we dont have to deal with the moisture related issues you refer to, here in Colorado. Frost is a much bigger concern than bud mold or mildew.

I have seen mentioned that csi humboldt has a sister company, however I have been unable to find a seed bank that sells their offerings. I am also interested in finding a listing of 707 seed co offerings, but have also come up short. I would appreciate a link if you have one.

Thanks for your time.

Damn @Blaze good to see you man. Been a few.......... I agree with you. Nothing compares to pampered well grown organic outdoor flowers, not even the best indoor. IMHO

Sorry to blow up your thread, but do you know the amount of meds required for the donation at the emerald cup? Flowers? Rosin? I want to say 2 ounces of flower and 1 ounce of rosin.

Last year it was 3 oz of flowers per entry, and each different strain had to be a different entry. You also had to pay a fee for each one. I do not remember what the amount was for extracts like rosin.

I am not sure what it is this year ( I would assume the same), they have had zero info posted on their website in regards to the contest. I don't even know where you can drop off your entries this year. The dispensary I did it at last year said they had not received any information yet either, did not even know if they were a drop off point again, and were just as much in the dark as I was on why no information what so ever on the contest had been released yet.

I 2nd that request. Spread the knowledge!!! :)
I will once I get something more comprehensive to post. The plan is to do whatever workshops the county/state offer for cannabis IPM in the future, and research and read as much as I can over the next winter during our slow season. Then once I have a plan figured out, we will start implementing the new IMP program next spring and see how it goes. It is definitely going to be a multi-year project.

Where would one find proven outdoor clones in Nor Cal? Is there a clone shop?

I find most of the clones from commercial nurseries to be sub-par. I usually do my own clones but there are a few friends I get some from when I need more than I can churn out myself.

The biggest problem with getting clones from places like Wonderland or dispensaries is they are usually under 24 hours of light and will not transition to outdoors without flowering.

They posted the rules and drop offs. 250$ per entry.

http://theemeraldcup.com/contest/

Was just at harborside vending, and they said get the entries in early for best chances. All the meds will be tested before the judges smoke. Before Nov 23rd. Hope my late finishes are done and packaged by then......
Hah yeah me too I have a few strains in the new greenhouse that look like they won't be ready until around Nov. 15.

We've had someone working on a logo for us, I think it is almost finished. Here is one of the final drafts - what do you guys think?:
