I have 2 reservoirs that I can use for the top off one is a hundred gallons and the other is fifty. I also have the option of using just straight ro water if needed. I just watch my plants and the ppms and attach which ever I feel is best either the top off hose or the ro hose. Normally I use the 50 gallon to top off and keep the 100 gallon to fill and make the change out water in then when the top off is used up I fill that also for the change out and that pretty much fills my system. I don't necessarily start with a weaker ppm the goal is to keep that ppm and the plants drink about 100ppms a night so the top off should just keep it where its at.
Exactly, it should also be noted that my top is ph at around 4.5.I too top off with hot nutes.I mix up in my 55 gal top off and add my nutes there. If my girls need more water i hook up my ro straight to the buckets and add that way. But my 55 gal rez keeeps my ph and ppms in check. So if my girls drink 50 ppms they have it right there coming back into the system. I think this is the best way to do things due to the changing of what your plants need every week.

I'm trying to figure out how to convert 5ml of cal-mag liquid into an equivalent amount of calcium in calcium nitrate, in dry form. Yes, I've found I need to add calcium, my girls hog it up!
I also am about to start using calcium and see if that helps. But i do not know the formula for that sorry bro. i would use (x) amount of mls and use a gal of water and try to achieve the same ppms as if 5 mls were added in liquid form .just my 2cents .
I run straight ro in my top off. I used to run it hot but after a talk with DS I switched about a year ago and everything has been really good. Maybe I'll do a side by side of hot or not... I know that when I was running hot when my girls hit somewhere around week 7 they wanted the top off low. If I kept my top off matched to my UC my ec in the UC would rise. So when I ran hot I eased up a bit on the heat of the top off on week 7 of a 9 week strain. My 10-11 week strains drank like hogs all the way thru.. Just something I noticed and was wondering if anyone else has too or if anyone had noticed that maybe ogs like a lighter top off?
So glad you stopped in. I have been thinking of calling you but never get around to it. Busy huh? Busy is good but I wanted to pick your brain about some nute specifics. I've been using cutting edges cal amp and mag amp because I like the idea of having these desperate since this strain tends to want a lot of magnesium but I've been thinking there such calcium hogs it wouldn't effect them dumping say 4-5ml a gallon of Cal mag? I really like cutting edges products but so expensive for some calcium and mag. What are your thoughts on this? Should I be concerned with to much calcium late in flower? Maybe producing more leaf than I want to trim. Thanks for stopping in. Look forward to seeing you around more. I know everyone around here misses you man. We understand busy though at least I do. You coming back out to Cali anytime soon? Let's go hit up the casinos do a little partying. Good for our souls!!Beautiful girls A and B. So glad to see it. Sorry i have been so out of touch, haven't been home sine april.
Try running even lower nutrient levels.
Hes running the UC for anyone not knowing AliceD is my better half and the greenest thumb in my household.Hi, if your starting water has an EC of less than .2, definitely add cal-mag. I run a full 5ml/gal from veg all the way up until flush.
I used the cutting edge trio, but I wasn't impressed with the value to cost. What kind of system are you running? Different systems have different nutrient strength needs. I use Jacks Professional dry nutrient, along with calcium nitrate as my base. I add the aforementioned cal-mag and 1ml/gal of Mineral Matrix, a micronutrient booster.
At a few intervals throughout bloom, I'll add a P booster. That's it. KISS. And cheap. Really cheap.
Most worrying is your pH swing. If you run an RDWC like an undercurrent, this is a potential indication of an outbreak of anaerobic conditions and potential pythium or root rot. Have a close look at your roots if you're able to check their health. White is good, Brown and stringy, not so much.
Another cause of pH rise is chemical. I see a large and persistent jump in pH when I use silica additives, for example.
Hope this helps.

Exactly what I was reading yesterday. As it turns out I think the air pumps are going out now. Be right back. I was reading about it in a Cannatalk issue 21.I had that problem when i started out with my current grow, I cant find the info again on the net!. Any way the Co2 reacts with PH down and creates a different molecule if i remember correctly thus sending the PH haywire. If i can find the info ill post it!
