if it was me I would try to source a good price on pallets of sunshine mix or promix bales and plan to keep that a standing order that they just bring weekly or monthly,whatever your needs are.but try to find a place indoors to store just what you will use in a few weeks to a month and always keep fresh soil.some sunshine mix and some jacks classics would be the easy road to big healthy plants without a ton of knowledge on growing.a couple watering wands and a few res's of jacks could get you up and running while you decide on dirt or hydro and what type of automatic watering you might be doing.it sounds like all the pieces are falling together for you guys,gl and keep us posted,peace

Thanks for the info sixstring...I will look into that right now! If nothing else I will be doing some hydro in a separate area of the building to figure it all out for next crop. Really appreciate the advice info!

Honestly, I still feel that doing flood tables on rolling racks would be a lot easier than soil... much easier to manage on a large scale, IMO. Plus, you can automate things much easier when doing hydro. And flushing that many plants in soil becomes an insanely huge task when its gotta get done all at once.

I would not set up the place to be done all at once,you can do this many dif ways but I run a perpetual garden in soil that's automated when I want it to be and I hand fed when I want.if a few plants(or many plants) are ready to stop feeding you just don't put nutes in that res.and if some of those plants are not done you top feed or hand water those with any extra nutes that need it.ive done my share of hydro,and my patients pick soil every time,hydro for show,soil for dough ;)
take a peek at my sig line for some samples inthegorge,anything can be scaled up or down to your needs.hydro is easy if you plan to fill a room with plants that are all on the same cycle,but what do you do with the in between times?i been keeping a good supply for my peeps for over 4 years without ever running short.but everything has its pros and cons I guess.

I definitely agree with Sixstring that it should be set up aas a perpetual. Shit, with that much space you could be starting a new set of beds once a week.

Yeah if your gonna have people on the payroll it's better to be busy and steady rather than overwhelmed. Get something in writing tank if you go, sounds like a dream job :)

Yea, with the numbers she's wanting to do, she could be doing 12 tables a week with 32 clones in each. With a 9 week cycle, that comes to just under 3500 clones... 384 SoG plants per week is easier to deal with for trimming and drying than 1750 or 3500 would be every month or two.. lol

Ok I read through this last night and immediately wanted to spit out something's but I slept on it. Some words of advice. Start with 1 2 3 or even 4 proven clones and learn how they grow. I guarantee that half of the seeds you crack will be junk. You will end up seeding everything guaranteed. Learn to grow one better then anyone else. That Is how you will survive. You will need much more labor then you think. You will need variety but sounds like you're overtrusting of what people are selling. Lot of snakeoil salesman out there. Look at jackmayoffer here and other forums. I would start simple. You say you know how to grow so grow. If you know dirt start there. Judging by what i have read you have a harsh learning curve ahead. Once you got a crop or to out doing it how you know then start expermenting. You need immediate success which is difficult on your scale for even a seasoned grower. Look for a good bulk coco source and do 4 x 4 beds on pallets if you must try something new right out gate. Get a good fork lift. Reevaluate labor, you're going to need a lot more then a few. Stay simple. I wish you the best of luck.

Thank you nangonug and Krusty for your concern and advice. I am afraid that it may not be very applicable to my particular situation but I appreciate the thought and concern behind it:-)

I am not without knowledge. I fed, housed, clothed and provided for my family entirely for over 5 years growing weed. That was my only source of income for that time period and I did very well. It was however 18 years ago and there have been advances in equipment and processes in that time period. That is why I reached out on this and other message boards. I started small with a home grow and in a year I was netting over $60,000 a year (from 1990-1995) which is not an incredible amount but it really was not that difficult and when an issue arose I took care of it including pests, exhaust and humidity issues, or anything else that comes up in a grow operation. This is not rocket science folks. I know many people are very innovative here and have to be due to size, security, and legal issues. That is what I came here to find. This is an entirely new ballgame folks. Straight out growing in itself is not difficult. It is easy to grow a pot plant and it is even easy to grow a great pot plant. To do anything on a large scale has its unique challenges but I really think that in many ways not having to worry about space, not having to worry about detection of exhaust systems, cooling systems, or even having to worry about any kind of detection at all makes it much easier in many ways. I can call an expert on power, I can call an expert on HVAC, I can call an expert on pest control because it is a legitimate business just like any other company doing business in WA state but I personally do not know any experts that grow weed. One of my partners is an engineer and he is working on automating as much as he possibly can. If I need more labor you can be sure I will hire more people and I cannot imagine I would have any difficulty finding plenty of people just in those that I personally know that would love to do any part of this.

I have to say in reality I have not gotten any of the sort of advice I was looking for here directed at growing on any sort of a large scale. Of course I did not expect to find many people with experience growing big but I did hope for one or two and I was hoping for even some smaller growers to offer usable advice on at least some aspects of growing. No one other than sixstring has offered anything that actually talked about different light systems they prefer, hydroponic information that could be followed or attempted, particular favorite strains, favorite soil choices, or any thing at all really other than warning me that everything and anything will probably go wrong. A couple of folks said they would get info to me but no one actually has. Of course no one here has any such obligation to me or to any other person coming here for advice. I am no one to anyone here, so nothing was lost but some of my time. I have read many of the threads here but it is quite time consuming to read every post on every thread and I have not gleaned that much info for the time I have spent searching so in retrospect I think my time could be used better reading books where people actually offer information that I can use. I guess I will just give up and follow what I know and what I can find in print. Sorry to take up any of your peoples time:-/

Currently you seem to have huge odds against you and I would like to see how this pans out. Unfortunately, I think your first BIG mistake is growing commercially in SOIL...

well I want to say again that im no "expert" but I did manage/run a large nursery/greenhouse and your right,growing weed is not as difficult as some make it out.but I was hoping you would stick around and show off a few teaser pics of this buildout.I have built a few ops much larger than mine,some with 1000 w and some with 600 w and I always recommend starting with half the space to generate income while you tweak the other side to your style.
we used to pot up 3000-4000 1 gal and 3 gal plants per day and peatmoss was part of our potting mix,we got it from fafard on the pallets and kept it under a roof dry.very consistent stuff,and I have found the same true for sunshine mix and promix bx.feel free to pm me if you want to ask about anything,but I hope you stick around and show us how this progresses and share with the community.your dream is gunna be carried out 100x over in the coming years all across the country,wouldnt it be cool to see a bunch of those dreams modeled after your op? peace

I'm not going to take up a hole page by the response button but I hope you read this. I offered you advice. Start where you know. Sounds like you knocked out 20 lbs a year back in the day. Just figure out how to do that each and every day and your on your way. Soil look for a local source or cheep truckloads of bale's of sunshine mix or coco. Lighting. Gavita pro 1000 de wired in to a staggering control or soltec matrix. Gavitas are for flat lighting (overhead) . You are asking for assistance that is more valuable and more important then ever. Your closet growing skills are not going to be much help. Infact they are getting in your way. Successful businesses start with thoughtful planing and then carefully following the plans. So all free advice aside. Sit down with some successful businesses owners and discuss how they started. Sounds like you need to higher a business consultant and stop the train from derailment. You have entered a world that is about to crush your dreams and either make you successful or spit you out on your ass and not look back. From what you have wrote i fear its the latter. Odds are already stacked against you. You should have cheap power so that should help. You have drive! May help may be killing ya. Carefully plan. Carefully grow. And for God's sake don't be so trusting of government. Just because they say there going to leave you alone?
