It's been since 2015 our last trip down there I was participating on the forums. Everything changes so quickly in travel some of the places we went to are no longer there, wiped out by a hurricane.I love trip advisor! The comments have helped me find hidden beaches and prime spots to photograph sunsets. I’m a contributor in there and I post under LadyCapt.
Its been a bit since I have done much traveling I got involved in managing air b and b’s around here, which is a tourist destination. Our town pop here is 508 which swells into several thousand at any given time during the summer. So I have stayed major busy the past five years. This year, I am officially retired! A lot of my travel planned for this year is shooting competitions. I’m staying out of the big cities and off the interstates. Plus I really enjoy the peace and tranquility of living a back woods secluded life. I can easily vacation at home..and grow weed..yup there’s that
My husband is a retired sea Captain he has been all over the world and man does he have stories! I have heard his stories of travel in Mexico, one of the same trips you took. He was in port there when the water got him..a salad..washed evidently in the water. Sick sick sick he was. It's been since 2015 our last trip down there I was participating on the forums. I got into a few arguments about driving in Mexico, common advice is to obey all the laws and not to drive like the locals........Fk that! do you want to die? get pulled over and ticketed? No, don't stand out, go with the flow, don't have the guys behind you pissed off saying fking tourists get the fk out of the way or passing you on both sides of the car on a 2 lane highway at the same time....
Speed limits & road signs are suggestions and as far as I can figure Alto means slow down a bit then floor it......
Yes I like the Keys too we did a road trip down there a long time a go took a float plane to fort Jefferson I think it is out in the dry Tortugas spend the day there snorkeling and wandering around, lunch on the beach...lots of pics in albums a few from Mexico on disks but mostly hard copy and an old 8mm camcorder. My husband is a retired sea Captain he has been all over the world and man does he have stories! We traveled to fish. Fish we have done too. One of my fav places to fish is the Florida keys. We actually got married on the beach in Key West. We go down and rent a boat, do as we please. Finish the day with a good smoke, watching the sun go down anchored up at some island. Good times good times!
Hey Friend!Naww screw this. I left off on page 7 of this thread before left for Sin City. No way I'm missing any of my Sensei'sCorner.
Going to get super baked and catch upand please cut me some slack if I reply to something and your first thought is "dude that was weeks ago ya clown"
I’m sure a lot of it is humorous and photographs. Relax, put your feet up. Welcome back.Naww screw this. I left off on page 7 of this thread before left for Sin City. No way I'm missing any of my Sensei'sCorner.

I found that once you get south of Miami and onto the keys you get more of a tropical feel...the water changes color and there's a tropical breeze. We were living in Vancouver BC at the time and driving there wasn't an option...Now I could be down there in 4 - 5 long days of driving.Yup, I have made the journey to the dry tortugas too! We rent an oceanfront place in Cudjo Key. Forty five min ride via boat to the Bahamas. I totally love the art gallery’s in Key West. We used to drive down, spend twelve days and drive back.
LOL! Yup!It's been since 2015 our last trip down there I was participating on the forums. Everything changes so quickly in travel some of the places we went to are no longer there, wiped out by a hurricane.

I've had 3 different cop driving stops in and around Cancun on the way to the airport...1st and worst cost us about $60 USA...pissed me off said I was speeding through a school zone I don't speak much Spanish opened my wallet and ooops I had too much he took it all. Our lunch money at the airport.....LOL! Yup!
Another Costa Rica story. On my first trip to CR, my buddies and I were driving back to San Jose to catch our flight back to the US. We get stopped by a roadside patrol. Probably saw the boards on the top of our Trooper and decided to shake down the tourist. Cop flags us down and we pull over to the side. Cop comes up to the window and says in spanish "You aren't wearing seatbelts. I'm going to write you a ticket.". Since I was the lone spanish speaker in the group my buddies look to me to talk to this guy. I tell the officer "But Officer, Costa Rica doesn't have a seatbelt law.". I think he was startled that I spoke spanish fluently so he regroups and says "Well, you were speeding too.". I ask him how fast we were going and he says we were going 50km. Where we pulled over just happened to have a speed limit sign in front of us. It said 60km limit. At that point is where I realize what his motivation was. He starts writing the ticket and I tell my friends in english "Give me 20 colones each.". They're like "What?". "Just give it to me and let me handle this". They give me the money and the cop hands the ticket to my buddy who was driving. I take the ticket from my buddy, look at it and tell the cop "Sir, we're on our way to the airport to catch a flight back home. Would you be so kind as to pay the fine for us when you get back to the courthouse?". He knew I knew whats up. He looks at me and smiles and says "Sure. Pura Vida.". We made our flight.
Just how it works in some countries.
I don't think I could remember to keep my mouth shut in the shower lol. When you are in the resorts the water available to drink is potable but the water in the showers isn't always treated, My wife has had the shits I believe came from the shower water & according to some of the tripadvisor forum users its a common occurrence. I was a regular forum participant while I was travelling, they helped a lot. Its a lot like this site focusing on travel
Ya. No. I’d have to let someone else drive and be black bagged in the back.I've had 3 different cop driving stops in and around Cancun on the way to the airport...1st and worst cost us about $60 USA...pissed me off said I was speeding through a school zone I don't speak much Spanish opened my wallet and ooops I had too much he took it all. Next one was speeding in Cancun ( bullshit it was my rental car & ball cap) we'd just pulled out after diner and I think he wanted me for drunk driving but I only had Tea, I only had about $200 peso's on me he took it,
They're were trying to stop that and the gov issues these get out of jail free cards for minor infractions cards you can get at the car rental agency if you ask. But on our way back to our hotel outside of Cancun the last time we were there, we got pulled over again....
We'd just bought Pizza at a Domino's on the strip and I'd seen this cop sitting in the same spot on the way into town. He pulled us over and I showed him the card.....Oh no senoir speeding isn't a minor infraction you'll have to pay after a bit of but sir I'm broke only credit cards I had about $3.50 in change ( in peso's)...he took it and we drove off laughing......I thought I might have to give him the Pizza..........
These encounters don't really turn me off Mexico its just part of the costs of driving there as a tourist...If I get a speeding ticket here it'll cost me $350 + I lose my licence for 1 week on a first offence 1 month on the second & my insurance takes a jump, out of 7 trips down there $100 bucks for 3...infractions...lol....isn't all that bad.
I don't think I could remember to keep my mouth shut in the shower lol.
Just one more reason to hang with the B & C at the resort.I've had 3 different cop driving stops in and around Cancun on the way to the airport...1st and worst cost us about $60 USA...pissed me off said I was speeding through a school zone I don't speak much Spanish opened my wallet and ooops I had too much he took it all. Heyyyyy they to you backHey Friend!
Happy to see your smiling face back around! How goes it all?
You can say that again. I made it from page 7 to 10 and missed years of great times. As for pics naw didn't take too many and no big winnings really. We got 24th out of 180 so made our money back but the craps tables and completely rigged automated craps games got me for maybe 5 hunde. Most of the time I was riding my roommies ninebot scooter everywhere and anywhere though and that in itself for 5 days was worth the price of admission. Love that lil fkrI’m sure a lot of it is humorous and photographs. Relax, put your feet up. Welcome back.
Any pics from your travels? Big winnings maybe?
I've been to Vegas half a dozen times, I like to rent a car and get out into the desert. Our last trip down we drove to Monument Valley through the Grand Canyon and back through Zion national park....I always have a blast in Vegas, with money to spend and when we were there all the free booze you could handle,You can say that again. Lmaooo! I don’t know that I would worry so much about being seen at a Taylor Swift concert as much as I would be having been seen with a closet furry! Sorry, I just couldn’t resistHeyyyyy they to you backlol man I wish I was there with ya for that one. The video of me running towards the lights at cheetah type speed screaming "TAKKEEEEEEEEEE MEEEEEEE" would have been priceless I've made it 4 more pages in the thread and almost shit myself twice. From Pupecarver to smokin infused rubber brick weed from south of the border, this thread has it all. I'm thinking of sayin fk my grow and just chill here so I can keep up
Ahh too much. Have friend flyin in from IL and no joke what I'm about to tell you stays here lmfao he is a "Closet Swifty" and has come for the Taylor Swift concert that is Saturday.
