Yeah, radicals are bad. Radical oxygen won't last very long, that shit right there is gonna react with some shit super hardcore style. Pretty much anything it touches actually.

Electrons are little assholes man, it's tough to quench a radical reaction. They tend to be hyperfast chain reactions that don't terminate except under special conditions.

Yeah, rainwater is fucked all the way up though. Shit is raining pesticides (literally, that's a thing now).

The composition's probably changed a bit over the years;
a little cesium here--
a little plutonium there...

certainly a great deal more sulfur. and lead. and a range of other industrial pollutants. good ol' humanity.
