Smoke Reports, Conclusions & Props:
AK47 - this pheno of AK47 is the standard pheno. Not cherry or anything special but it is still fantastic. Smells of sandlewood and a hint of bubblegum. Buzz comes on strong and quickly. Almost like getting hit in the face with a 2x4. It wears off fairly quickly as well in about an hour or so. Of course this will vary with your tolerance. This is my daily go to smoke. I can smoke AK 24/7/365 it’s just a rock solid strain that is pleasant in every way. Slightly energetic and enhances creativity. Once you start coming down it doesn’t make you want to crash just smoke more of it. I’d rate it 8.75/10 overall.
Chocolate Diesel 1 - this pheno was unexpected. I’ve grown this strain before from F1 seeds and never had anything like this. This pheno is very fruity. When growing it smells like juicy fruit gum. When dried and cured it smells like a strawberry and banana smoothie. The taste is great. Very fruity on inhale. The buzz is very uplifting and energetic. It also doesn’t make you crash or hungry. The buzz lasts just a tad over an hour and I enjoyed it best in a vaporizer. In a vape it tastes sweet almost sugar like. I’d rate it 8.5/10 overall.
Chocolate Diesel 2 - this pheno was straight up sour diesel. Very little chocolate trip in this one. With that said if you’re a fan of sour d it’s great. I however could take it or leave it. It’s nice to smoke on occasion but it’s not the best. The strong diesel smell turns me off a little. Others love it. It’s a unique terp profile that’s easy to recognize. Buzz wise it’s just as any other sour d. Uplifting and strong. You can be easily distracted when buzzed and it can induce some anxiety in some cases. Overall I’d rate it 6.5/10. It’s good but not my favorite. But I’ll keep some around because it’s nice to have and some really love it.
Cali-O - this was grown from selfed seeds by seed man. I had grown it years ago and this was very similar to what I remember. Strong orange terps that taste just like it smells. This is not a strong strain but perfect for wake n bakes. Perfect first buzz of the day material. The buzz lasts maybe 45 minutes and isn’t strong but it does put you in a good mood and makes you want to get on with whatever your day holds. I usually start my day with this strain and then switch to AK once I’m to the point where Cali-O doesn’t cut it anymore. It makes a perfect transition from one to the other. I’d rate this a 7.5/10 overall. 9/10 for terps, 8/10 for buzz quality, 6/10 for strength.
Cookies n Cream - this was grown out because a buddy of mine suggested it, sent me some seeds and they got crushed in the mail. So I had the chance to buy some f2s and jumped at the chance. I must say I was not disappointed. It’s a great night time smoke and has a very unique terp flavor profile. It’s relaxing and will calm your nerves after a stressful day. I will be growing this out for a while as it’s earned a spot in my lineup for the time being. It has a skunky musky vanillaish flavor profile. Sensi Star (by paradise seeds) like in its musky skunk like smell and flavor. I’d rate this one an 8/10 overall. It produces nice tight rock hard nugs when growing and yields fairly well. It tends to grow on the smaller side like a kush but is frosty as hell. A truely gorgeous bud to look at in appearance.
The first grow diary is in the books. All great strains that I’ll be growing for years to come. It’s been quite a journey and in the end I’ve been extremely happy with all the equipment, nutrients, genetics, etc I’ve used along the way.
Props to:
The Growing Rack - Perfect grow space. And if I ever move I can take it with me. I was able to fit 20sqft of canopy in 10 sqft of space 2’ (deep) x 5” (wide).
Primordial Solutions - Fantastic kind of nutrients.
Sea Green is worth its weight in gold. Super concentrated so even the trial bottles will last through a round or two.
BioBizz - Fantastic line of organic nutrients. I mixed these with Primordial Solutions as most of the primordial line is more like additives and not a complete nutrient solution. So
BioBizz to the rescue and it worked great.
Nectar for the Gods -
Herculean Harvest and
Olympus Up. HH is a great liquid bone meal that helps supply phosphorus to your growing plants.
Olympus Up is a liquid hydrated lime. Both work great and are cost efficient to use regularly.
Serious Seeds - The creators of AK47 and other notorious strains. One of the most storied breeders in the industry. A true legend and a catalog filled with genetics that have been used in many current strains and hybrids.
Exotic Genetix - A great breeder with top notch genetics. I’ve not tried but one strain and that one strain has impressed me. I do have another strain (wonka bars) that I’ll grow down the road so look out for that grow diary in the near future.
Blue Labs - Top notch soil ph pen. I don’t know what I would have done without it. It saved my ass on a couple occasions. It’s one of those tools that you’re glad to not use because that means everything is going perfectly. But when something does pop up it’s so nice to be able to know exactly where your soils ph is at in an instant. Well worth the $130 I paid.
HLG - Quantum QB288v2. This led grow light is fantastic. Super efficient, dimmable and brings out the frost and terps in any plant. In fact it’s so efficient that lack of heat was actually an issue for the first time in my cannabis cultivation career. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Easy to assemble and the cost savings every month has paid for itself. It doesn’t get any better than this.
Useful Seeds - makers of the Chocolate Diesel S1 seeds I grew. I still have more so more pheno hunting to come. Fantastic breeder and I’ve even connected with him on IG a few times. Super nice guy and puts out great seeds that all germinated in less than 24 hours.
Seedsman Seeds - While I don’t want to promote another seedbank on here they also produce their own line of seeds and that is what I am giving kudos to. The Cali-O S1 seeds I bought from them were great and super cheap. They have quite a lineup of genetics and I’ve seen nothing but great reviews of them so kudos to them for however they are doing it.
The Growing Rack - Im giving this another round of kudos because well I created it and I’m damn proud of it. I know it’s not as cheap as a tent or as large as a room but for a single user it’s ideal and has not let me down. It’s built like a tank and does the job perfectly. So while it does a fantastic job I’m more than likely going to retire The Home Growing Rack and turn my focus to the larger scale commercial racks. Which I feel are ideal for any commercial grower looking to expand their grow without expanding their facility.
So there ya have it. One grow diary in the books and a new one has been started for a pollen chuck I did while creating this diary. UZI (Oozy) Cookies which is AK47 x Cookies n Cream. So let’s keep it going in the next grow diary.
PS - If anyone has any commercial cannabis grow op connections I would be more than happy to reward/kickback/pay you for the referral if you should send them my way. I like to take care of anyone who helps me out and would be grateful for any business you can help me drum up moving forward. I have many suppliers and can get them the best racks at the best pricing. From small craft growers to large greenhouses and warehouses. No grow is too big or too small.
All equipment, genetics, nutrients, etc was purchased with my own money. Nothing was donated and this review is simply a reflection of my experience. (Not that I wouldn't accept any donations ;-)
