Get the LG 48 btu from goductless. Big and plenty of cooling if you need it.

If you are at 60 in the winter, get the heat pump one. Air temp is also important and I think you'll see an increase in yield by having the temp up around 78-80.

JMHO though,

They now make 1ton mini units with 25seer ratings, Shit I would rather buy 3-5 of those, they will pay for themselves in one month paying PGE prices. PLus if one breaks you turn off a couple lights and get it fixed

also watch the AC hook up one them hook the rest up yourself

anyone seen these?

This 1-ton unit looks a truly DIY install, without any vacuuming. Price is high per BTU, but it is eligible for a 30% federal tax credit because of efficiency (20 SEER), which brings the cost to $1200, or ~ $100.00 / BTU. This tax credit is up to $1500. 3 of them would just about cover a 10kw room, and it might be nice to have multiple sources of cooling in the room (specs say there is 430 CFM air flow per unit). Not sure about the reputation of this brand though.

I've heard the most reputable brands are Mitsubishi, Freidrich, Fujitsu. The guideline for the federal tax credit on mini-splits are stated here

Here's a cheaper 1-ton unit also eligible for the tax credit, and this one has an amazing 25 SEER rating. It's not "DIY", but the tax credit can include installation costs too.

and a 2-ton unit eligible for the credit (the largest BTU unit that I could locate that qualifies)

I like the thought of the Fed Gov helping buy my grow equipment.

Here is a link to another 1 ton DIY From Harbor Point. Dont Know if it is better or not but it comes to 1630 shipped in Cali. If your out of Cali then you save 130 on tax.

I really wish this was a 25 seer or someone knew of a DIY that was.

Stay away from their 2 ton inverter unit.. Known issues with the unit and will not support our hard use. Their other units rock BUT! if you call them up they will sell you a 13 seer 18k btu americare unit for 899 that is better than what they sell..

The harbor point unit, but they sell some americare units. Apperaantly americare bought waaay to many units and went under because of the economy. They are great units but little support behine them..
