As I was telling Anthem, you can find me on IG under n0name_james. I just started, got a little med grow. I mention none of these companies in my posts. I am actually trying out Growth Science nutes and Growers Choice led. Not sure what to think about either yet.

I wasn't trying to start drama. Initially, I was just trying to participate in the discussion. If you got time, check out my few pics on IG and let me know what you think. Feedback is appreciated. I always appreciate the knowledge share so any tips or suggestions would be great. I have been doing this as a hobby for a while now, and would like to try and go big, hence me getting licensed and following a lot of the bigger names in the industry. But not just Athena or Luxx. Anyone doing it is someone I can learn from.

I am very familiar with the podcasts but I also have knowledge about who makes the stuff for Athena. I realize everyone of the nutrient companies would like you to think they have the ability to manufacturer the products and blend to the end product but the truth is there are fewer than you might think. Secondly, go to their website and try to find out if they have a facility. They do not even have a listed address. Most of these nutrient companies are just middle men, I use the product and I have nothing against the line but I do firmly believe they are subbing out the manufacturing. If you really want to get down to the bottom of things start looking at the line of liquid and you will quickly see if you compare them to the grow more line they are watered down.

I agree and disagree with your statement here about companies not manufacturing their own products. I own a nutrient company here in New England (we are extremely small). I do not do the manufacturing; however I do make the the formulations and pick the ingredients myself. They are sent to a blending company in Connecticut. There they are ground, blended, bottled, and sent back to me to be labeled etc.

I just wanna say I recently switched to coco and am using Athena pro line. Good results so far coming from a soil grower. I’m saving a lot from my previous recipe. Spending about $700 per run. No point to go out and buy the ingredients separately to save a few hundred more lol too much time and effort.

Cost and simplicity are the reasons I am considering Athena. The only thing keeping me from committing is that I know a few growers that have said it is definitely a step back in terms of quality. Bud structure is great, has great bag appeal. But the terpene profile just isn't there. Maybe some of it is user error, but these folks are very experienced and I have seen the same strains grown with other nutrient lines and they had way more nose to them.

Have you noticed a loss in bud quality since switching to Athena?

Just FYI. I did a run with Growth Science so no one else on THC Farmer has too. The 5 bottle recipe appealed to me as it seemed simple and cost effective. but I found out their kelp product, Opulent Harvest, has 150ppm of copper, 40ppm of lead and about 6ppm of arsenic. I didn't even want to check the rest of their products, I was so disgusted when I saw that. I won't be using this line again and I recommend anyone reading this to avoid Growth Science products.

Damn yeah I think the quality problem you’ve heard about Athena is because of the growers not the nutrients. The quality is just as good as my $4,000 recipe with 16 parts.

And that was with three strains in that room. It's a quality product and cheap that run cost me about $200 in nutrients. I've been growing indoor for over 20 years and owned 3 hydro stores so I know the business pretty well.

So what in Athena is the difference? I see nothing in thier line that differs from many others.

Clones yellow from to much light it has nothing to do with nutrients. They don't even have roots to be able to take a significant amount up.

If I seem skeptical it's because I am and looking objectively. Often you see ppl attribute things to improvements that are just not the case.

Believe it or not when a mother is grow in such good conditions and it likes what it is eating it will give more energy increase it’s lick if you was to eat McDonald’s every day you won’t function as good as you were to eat healthy I agree with Athena salts il never go back I’ve seen it for my self with the clones the stuff is just fire but Athena cuts is wak clonex all the way but I’m hitting 5 EC in veg I will increase when in flower to 7 EC sounds allot but they love it

Are you really feeding that much in veg and flower? That is ridiculous.

At those rates, it can't be cheap to run. One of the selling points of Athena Pro Line is that it is cheaper to run than other fertilizers/ more economical.

A lot of growers out there running other lines might hit half of what you run in flower and get 80 grams a square foot of straight fire off of 600 and 700 watt LED lights. I have smoked a lot of bud grown on Athena Pro, from many growers, over the past 2 years and I am not impressed. Athena Ag is constantly evolving their product line and I am looking forward to seeing what they come up with next but the feed rates for healthy, productive growth are outrageous.

There's been a lot of hype around dry ferts the past few years. I will admit I was on board for a while. But I am happier with a simple and effective liquid line. I get better results and it's easier to handle and mix for me.

My current feed schedule in flower cost approx. 12 to 15 cents a gallon to run. I will not exceed 2.2 ec and I will most likely do between 2 to 2.5 pounds per 700 watt LED light, starting at 50% power week 1 and stepping up 10% each week until I'm at 80% in week 4.

I have seen some of your posts. All you do is regurgitate what other, well known growers on this forum post. You chime in like you have something to add when you should just stay out of it. You want to contribute to this conversation, then say something about Athena, if you are even still using them.

I really like it when an authority such as yourself comes on the forum and has so much knowledge and experience to help out us lower performing growers.
For example I like how you chimed in about Athena about what 15 months ago and now you have been smoking bland Athena buds for years. First mention of that was your post today.
I also like how now you are bashing Athena for liquid nutrients. Ha Ha that has to be the work of well an inexperienced individual. Why am you ask, because the cost for someone as yourself is substantial more with liquid over dry. So for someone waiting on the license to grow that is just pure inexperience. Lets face it prices are in the dump and you want to waste money on liquid nutrients.
