Got in some good pre-runoff dry fly action yesterday at the Confluence of Williams Creek and the Colorado River. Beautiful day, mid 50's now wind and sporadic sun. Snow is giving way to green grass down low but drove through a nice spring storm on the way home this morning.

Rain and snow today..... Can't wish it away....but damn....where'd the Sun go ?

Story in itself. When I first got there nothing was going on on the surface so started out with a RS-2 and crystal hair midge as a dropper. Worked ok but not good enough to keep me from trying a streamer and ok as well.
After about an hour and a half of a fish every 20 minutes or so broke for lunch and a nice buzz. Then a fish rose and another, game on! Started with BWO's and spent 30 minutes or so to figure out they were eating spinners. After that it was a fish every couple of minutes for the next hour.
Nice day. Went back to the cabin and got all the neighbors stoned.

This is what I wake up to every morning at the cabin. Gotta keep the lap dog close. Their den is about 50 yards from the front of my deck. Have seen as many as 18 little ones at one time in years past. Only about a dozen this year. The just came out of the den last week.
How many do you see

You have no idea how much I would love to do just that. The rivers here are blown out. Look like chocolate milk. Only tail water fishing around here for the next few weeks.
Have so much stuff going on around here it makes my head spin. Don't have time for this rain, outdoor choirs to do. Between mowing, getting the veggie garden in and all other spring stuff don't know which way is up. Not even counting the basement. Oh and then the rentals and home in the hills. How did I ever get this done when I was working??? Will be up soon, just have to get through the busy season.
One of the other members of this forum should take C-Man up on this offer. He would treat you like a King. Have all you could possibly eat and some of the best fishing in the whole state. Not to mention the eye candy.

Dials set for wed. Got,lots of honeydos to,get done to earn credit....

Rods are rigged and in the truck. Belly boat holds air, first time that thin has been blown up on about 10 yrs. Think I have everything, different kind of fishing that normal and requires different stuff. Cannarado is going to get there at dawn. Not me, will wait until the sun is on the water and the dries start hatching. That is when I will show up. Have a 3, 4 and 5 wt rigged but will be disappointed if I have to use anything other than the 3wt. Just another day on the water. Love it.

Before I became addicted to fly fishing used to hit Aurora Res. huge fish on baits.
was a blast till the rangers turned into Nazis.
used to be way cool. join us for bbq. then they searched coolers and if beer was not 3.2 had to pour it out, not down gullet either.

target practice, we have to shoot em hereabouts

So true about the rangers at Aurora Res. Ranger came running down after I took a piss in the bushes. Thought I was going to jail. Have ya ever had to take a piss after drinking coffee and getting in a belly boat. I don't care who is watching.....I have a quick choice, let er fly or piss your pants.

Williams Fork R and the Colo R confluence. Couple on the Colo and the smaller water was the Williams Fork. Home water love it. Wade fishing though, no dories or pontoons.

Tired, had to do extra choirs today so I could go play tomorrow. Still have to water....always something. Keeps me young.

All farmers have a good Memorial Day weekend. Don't forget the pigs will be out in force.

One time arrived at Aurora Res. drunk as hell.
Had a boat and picked up some blonde drunk gal at the liquor store on the way.
She had a half gallon of vodka, I had beer.
We never made it off the dock, she fell out of boat right in front of the ranger, the bottle of vodka fell in water as well.
He cited me for alcohol possession, told us to go home.
Could have got a DUI or worse blonde could have drowned.
Got her home no nookie, probably lucky, sent her home in a cab.....

lmfao, leaving Las Vegas.

Then a year or so later the had a fishing derby, hundreds showed up. No one caught the big tagged fish, think it was five thousand dollar grand prize.
About a month later I was bait fishing in my favorite spot, 2 rods out.
I hooked into a monster trout on my ultra lite setup.
Got close to shore waded out to attempt to grab, no net.
like a dummy I tried to grab fish and lost the rod it was hooked up on, saw the fish 10 lbs easy.
Fuck was I pissed. After a few minutes I reeled in second rod and low and behold I snagged the ultra lite with fish still on.
Landed it and noticed the tag. Knew it was worth something, don't recall exactly.
Didn't matter since I was convicted of a violation I was disqualified, bastards.....
Used to get really hammered out there, wind lightning, bring it on....

Sitting here stoned as a mother fucker....need to get my ass to bed. Tomorrow is gonna wear me out and have to take the wife out to dinner after. But you
and your stories always make me smile. A night around the camp fire with you and a few schrooms would be priceless. ;)

heading out shortly to hike into some native cliff dwellings...so far every time I have visited this spot I find new rock art to admire. This place is pretty much untouched since they left, the cliffs are so steep and nasty, its hard to say what could be found up high by someone with climbing skills. Standing in the bottom of the canyon, you can see rock art way up on the sheer cliff walls with no sane way to get to it.......
