Wow, some sort of beautiful! We are lucky people to live in places where water, trees and mountains are plentiful and mostly untouched by urban ugliness.

That's actually the high mountain desert, with a river running thru it, way high, mushroom high that is, way perfect........
My hd head cam did not work, these are shots from another guides trip thru the gorge, hopefully will get hd cam working and can see mine...

Can drive to trailhead 1 hour, hike down 20 mins... on river....float out 12 miles....

Question for you C-Man....how do you find time to fish and do shrooms all the time. Saw your farm and all you have going. I am so busy this time of year I can't hardly look up and you have as much or more going on than I do. I get a half day of fishing in here and there but it seems you live on the river. Must be nice. I was able to fish last Monday and Tues, 1/2 day each between getting a rental ready for a new tenant and will try and get another 1/2 day in sometime this coming week. There just simply enough of me to go around. You must have lots of peeps working for ya, I would rather keep the $$$ and do it myself.
Poor South Fork, Creede was (is) a great place to fish. No rain in sight and tons of beetle kill in the area. The whole state seems to be burning up.

All of them shrooms would have me corkin my ears to keep my brain from runnin out. Dammmmmnnnnn. I've tripped hundreds of times but dunno if my head is ever gonna be stable enough again to go there after losing my son. Not sure WTF would happen with emotions sittin so close to the surface >all the time< now. Glad I wrung it out when I did tho...LOL.

the fires are sad...but in all reality..the forest needed it. I went over Wolf Creek a couple months ago and most of the trees were dead from some sort of fungus/algae covering them. It was evident that the place was gonna eventually go up in flames..... Glad South fork made it through..... for now.

Have been able to fish the Colorado River 3 days in the last two weeks. The dry fly fishing has been very good. Soon it will be time to wander away from the home waters of the Colorado and seek out new adventures. Thinking about the state leases at Walden or even further N0rth and hitting the Saratoga area in Wyoming. Haven't fished this area much so mostly new to me.
Not gonna get a guide, want to figure it out on my own. Personally don't like guides, a lot more interesting if you are forced to learn about bugs and their life cycles. A guide just tells your where and what to use. A good fly fisherman is a good entomologist and can quickly tell what bugs are on the water and what the fish are keyed in to. I spend as much time walking and observing as I do fishing.
This is my favorite time of the year. Bugs are popping and the fish are rising . Here is a picture of the pass just after a summer shower looking toward the East.

Just got report on the Gunnie slowed way down.
River rose 200, moss is starting in, fish are gorged from stone fly hatch, typical for this time of year.
Will fish way up by Keebler pass on private water, should be fine up there...

Been thinking about this and what I do is get shit done so I feel I deserve some time away on the river. Work hard as I can, get it done...
This year has been awesome hit it at the right times and got lots of river time.
Plan ahead, make arangements for someone to cover for over niters and day trips. get lots done, go fishing...
Pute you've been fly fishing way more than me, only fly fished for the last 6 years or so never knew of the river till a friend came out and treated me to a float thru the gorge from then on it was total addiction.
So for me its very new and exciting, thrilling...HOOOO FISH ON!!!!!
I ve spent many days skunked trying to figure it out, casting came natural the other shit takes time on river to learn.
Basic hatches and bugs Ive learned pretty well.
Wish I could have a line cam to see wtfs going on underwater how many looks bug gets....
Slows down on my section during summers algee season. heard from my guy way up river of some real nice rainbows will hit it Sunday...
Had the best April May and June ever. will sill give it a shot no doubt, cant stay away....

River has slowed here as well. Caddis are slowing down and the fish are back on the bottom. Only a rise here and there, the dumb smaller ones are still close to the surface. Will be so so here until the tricos start popping in a few weeks. Have a friend who is a photographer for the Division of Wildlife and he spent hours taking pictures of bugs with an underwater camera. He determined that size, the shadow the cast and color were what fish key in on. I don't totally agree with his theory because attractors work better than matching the hatch sometimes. I am haunted by water and waiting for a fish to rise. Want my ashes spread over the river when I am done.

Up on the north Fork of the Gunnison today, Rainbow Sunday.
Some nice rainbows were hitting red copper johns.
Was fishing and noticed a rustling in the bushes river side.
Looked over saw nothing, a minute later more rustling, I then saw a medium size cinnamon colored bear.
She looked at me for awhile I called to her she scampered of followed by her cubs. 3o to 40 yards away.
Way cool. Was on private water friend said lots of bears in that area, dens, everywhere on other side of river.
