The San Juans are SouthWest Colorado. . .Durango, Telluride. . .etc. . .If you like having your mind blown by natural beauty, it's worth the trip. Telluride is my favorite place in the state. You are a little closer to the Sangro De Cristos which are also amazing and a little more accessible.

outwest

Sounds great if we have time well hit it for sure, were here for the rest of the week so we should be able to fit it in

If you drive from Colorado Springs to the San Juans don't drive through Pueblo, that drive sucks, take 24 west to 50, the drive is beautiful, plenty of places to check out along the way.

Man, don't say TELLURIDE! NOW I GOT THAT SONG STUCK IN MY HEAD! Never, ever say TELLURIDE!

They hide it up in Telluride...........

See it in the headlines,
You hear it ev'ry day.
They say they're gonna stop it,
But it doesn't go away.
They move it through Miami, sell it in L.A.,
They hide it up in Telluride,
I mean it's here to stay.
It's propping up the governments in Colombia and Peru,
You ask any D.E.A. man,
He'll say There's nothin' we can do,
From the office of the President,
Right down to me and you, me and you.

Gee, what was he talking about in that song? :D

The Pikes Peak Cog Railway is in Manitou Springs, as well- I know they run this early in the season, but they don't get to the top until it's plowed through. A great day trip though.

Pikes Peak is the site of America's oldest road race, run every July 4th- although up until a few years ago, it was dirt. I remember several years friends and I would drive up to a campground near the top and party all night above 12,000 feet. Weed was completely unnecessary at that altitude, but that didn't stop us! I grew up living a mile high, and that was still so far up there I could run out of breath just holding a conversation.

The next morning, we would see all manner of racing vehicles roaring up that dirt road as fast as they could go. Bikes, cars, racing buggies, even semi tractors! I'm telling you, the 8th wonder of the world is watching a longnosed Kenworth getting sideways flattracking around a dirt corner at 35mph with a 4000 foot dropoff right next to it!

Sounds pretty crazy, we went on the skyride and smoked a jay. Gonna try to do 7 falls in the morning then the royal gorge. Then who knows haha

Carp fitchin off of Union....woohoo
Always suspected you went after bottom feeders. Hope you are having fun. I'm flushing inside and mowing my grass outside. Going back to the same spot I took you to this week. Stay dry!!

^^ Hey with the kiddo ill be lucky to get outta the house for more than an hour or two. Carp ponds it is!!! Those things tug like mofos and like they say: "the tug is the drug!"

Just don't touch those slimy things. Worse than pike! Thats what forceps are for. The tug is the drug huh, like getting drunk and taking home an ugly chick, it's all good until you wake up in the morning and now you have to look at her. lol

Hope all had a great Memorial weekend. From the looks of it the weather could have been better but that's Colorado. If you are in the mountains I don't envy the drive home tomorrow, especially I-70 and I-25, what a mess.

Hopefully there will be some good stories to tell. With all the smoke on sat the sunset should have been beautiful. Anybody catch any fish. I'm going to go a couple of days next week as soon as everything settles down from the holiday. I hope you guys left some. ha ha

Weather was good here- didn't get any fishing in but had a chance to hang out with some cool people.

I stayed in with the fam. Need to go fitchin'. Ill fish with any of you guys just dont eat my flippin' face off! Holy shit is that crazy!
