I stayed in with the fam. Need to go fitchin'. Ill fish with any of you guys just dont eat my flippin' face off! Holy shit is that crazy!

I lived down in South Florida in the spring and summer of 2004- and that was the year that 4 hurricanes hit FL. Three of them hit my apt complex... Yet, that isn't why I'm not still there. Noooo... it was them weird fuckers livin' down there! I thought I had to worry about the mosquitoes and the 'gators. Shoot- it's the ones drivin' up in a Lexus wearin' alligator boots you gotta watch out for!

I see a story like the naked whack-job chewing on someone else's face and I think to myself, 'that HAS to be south Florida'- and sure as hell I was right.

I confine my predatory instincts to fish. And, I'm gettin' hungry...

The Colorado River is fishing great right now. Especially the dry fly fishing. I wait all year for this small window of opportunity and now is the time to be on the river. Rather you release or harvest your fish....get your ass out there.

Let's put together a Colorado Farmers Fishing trip. Let's pick a spot where there is bait, spin and fly fishing so we can all join in on the fun. We need a place that offers both camping and motels so you are covered as far as sleeping arrangements go. We can have a barbecue, bon fire and create a smoke fest of our own.

I know a couple of places that would work but would like some suggestions. I will be pretty busy until mid July and will start up again in Sept so I have a 6 wk window to work with. I know a lot here are to cautious to consider this but wtf, whats wrong with doing a little camping, fishing and talking shop with those of us that have a common interest.

Tell me if you can (will) come and we will pick a spot and time and I will take it from there. Come on you Colo Farmers, it would be a blast!

I'm in. Fly fishing and sleeping under the stars... that's why I live here. Well, there is the beer... and skiing... and girls...

We had a Farmer campout 2 years ago near Twin Lakes....

And another a few years before that with members from the CannaCabana....

Not a fisherdude here. I keep my fish in a pond in the backyard. LOL (in summer..in Winter they live in a 67 gal aquarium) I was always gettin in trouble as a kid 'cus my dad and older bro fly fished and I was always the one tossing big rocks in the lake/stream and scaring everything off. Dunno why I never got the fishin' or huntin jones....just never had any interest in messin with Mother Nature, I guess....

jus' more for you guys, right?

Let's not call it a fishing trip then. How does a "jamboree" sound? We all live here cause we enjoy the mountains no matter what our individual interests are. It would be interesting to sit around the camp fire in the evening and shoot the shit while smoking and putting a face to your avatar.

Unfortunately the Colorado sub forum seems a little slow right now and I didn't expect much interest. Thought it would be fun though. Just told C-Man I was coming over to see him sometime later this summer. Can't wait to see whats on the menu this time. Hope all have a good weekend.

Call it what you want, I'm bringing a fishing pole and I'm planning to use it!

I watch TV but the wife likes to look at birds on our frequent RV adventures. We're always hunting some feather ball on migration for a picture or some oohhhs n ahhhs. I'm from PNW originally n I hate when Colorado is too cold or too hot n miss all my dreary rainy weather.

Well, then today would have been right up your alley, brother- cloudy and drizzle on and off all afternoon. I'm okay with that for a day, but then I want my sunshine back!

Damn so how long does it take to get the fly fishing technique down? Im a gulf fisherman and know nothing of actually fishing "skill" per say...just how to bait a hook, follow birds and where to go. lol.

Mad Red Rocks goer here as well...caught a good 10-15 at least last year I'd say. I just love music and outdoors. Still have not got up to any snow yet though!

Another gulf fisherman myself.. Right where the OTHER Colorado River dumps into the Gulf of Mexico. South from Galveston a bit.

I've spent a bit of time in the Gulf as well. Both of Mexico and the Stream. ;)

outwest

Hellz ya, grew up fishing West Bay Galveston. Nothing like being bayside and able to catch 22-24" speckled trout from the bulkhead in the back yard!...then giggin 2-4lb flounder bout 100ft away in the flats!! Really miss me some late nite gig seshion and nite fishing under lights. And before the algae wave/shad kill came in the 90's and we could still pull 80 bluecrab a day off a handful of traps...ahhh the good ol days. lol.

I're a mountain man and will always be. Exotic trips to me are the Green River in Utah, the Big Horn in Montana, the San Juan in New Mexico and anything that runs down hill in Colorado. Trips to the ocean usually include wifes and that doesn't mix with fishing. Fishing is for guys, lies and lots of thing to get your head bad with.

I love saltwater fishing as well. Nothing like the tug of a saltwater fish no matter the species. They make the trout i usually fish for look like fuckin' sissies

I hear that! Shine a light out on the Colorado before sun up, those speckled trout will hit a bare hook if its shiny enough. Thats how I spent every day after school, weekends and all summer long..either on the wharf fishing, checking crab pots, working on shrimp boat, or catching mullet w my castnet to sell to bait shops for chum. I miss giggin, but not like I miss fighting sheep head and bull reds on the line! Those are fun to reel in!

Im telling ya, those speckled trout that come down the Colorado (other Colorado) and dump out into the gulf put up a fight, and you can pull some monsters! No kidding, this big I tell you (insert arms as wide as you can spread them here-lol). Nothing compared to going off shore for grouper and snapper, though.

Lets go camping. Tarryall would be good. Lots of water around there

Just west of the town of Gypsum off I-70 is a campground on the Eagle river for any west siders. I have fished there. Nice!

What is the campground like at Tarryall? I know a couple of secret lakes that aren't beaten to death because its out off the beaten path. The camp grounds are secluded enough that we would have it pretty much to ourselves. It is motor home accessible and tent or pop up camper will obviously work as well. One of the lakes is full of scuds and the fish grow fast and the meat is bright pink. You can use bait, spinning gear or flies. Small boats are also allowed.

One bad thing is that the forest service just extended the fire ban in the mountains for the entire summer. That is a real drag but lanterns will work as well.

Oh, they just stocked both lakes this week with 8 to 12" rainbows. There are many bigger fish in there as well. After a year these fish grow to about 14 to 16".

If interested check out Teal and Tiago lakes near Walden.
