Gunnision Gorge...Taken before I dropped camera in drink...
Tttttt 028

Fished all day. One of the slowest days fishing Ive ever had. I still enjoyed each and every second. The Gunnison is my place of worship.
I had the whole river to myself till around 3pm, then A few rafters passed and at end of day hooked up with a guide I knew who had 5 rafts of New York city bankers. He summoned me over for a few puffs and I loaded up several bowls of hashmix and we all pretty got tore up.
A few days before I hooked up some guys from Jeresy with a nice jar after getten em ripped, they were allmost out, gave them about a 1/2 zip, they could not believe it, fun to blow folks minds with generosity...

I will bet over the years you have gotten a lot of unsuspecting fishermen loaded. To funny, never had that happen to me. It must be the attitude of the folks on the western slope. Too many people are still up tight in Denver to walk over and offer them a hit off a pipe.

Beautiful looking water. Boy would I have fun with a 3wt and a big dry fly on that flat water right up against that bank in the shade. Why is it so slow? No bugs on the water or just one of those days.

Remember...."A BAD DAY OF FISHING IS BETTER THAN A GOOD DAY AT WORK".

My guide buddy said the fishing sucks in general in the Canyon and Gorge. Low water. I still have caught some nice fish earlier before knee blowout and after on Pontooner on 1 long pool that I allways have to myself. Paonia Res. looked full yesterday for North Fork flow and hopefully the Gunnison can be supplied with fresh colder water released slowly all summer.
Will fish tomorrow driftin that one hole private acess...

Take the water temp tomorrow if you have a thermometer. As long as it stays in the lower 60's everything is ok. I was hoping that the Gunny wouldn't be affected by the high temps, if it is the only place to fish will be over 10,000 ft.

You already have squash?? Mine hasn't even flowered yet. WTF are you feeding that stuff?

With the low water conditions in Colorado this year the locations for a group trip are pretty limited at best. A location that offers something for everyone that is centrally located is going to be hard. I think however I have the perfect spot. Taylor Park Reservoir has pretty much everything. There are spots for rv camping, tents and cabins. There is good fishing in the lake and streams and beaver ponds above the lake. The first half mile below the dam has some of the biggest rainbows and browns in the state. I have landed many fish over 25" there and one that went over 30", biggest fish I have ever caught on a fly rod. The scenery is beautiful perfect for horses or hiking.

The lake is close to 10,000 feet and is easily accessed through Gunnison or Buena Vista via Cottonwood Pass. There is a general store and I think there is a restaurant now. This is a very rustic area and you should bring most everything you need with you.

I am planning on a 3 day trip around the first of August. Best done during the week especially if you plan on fishing the river below as it will get crowded on the weekend. There are only a few cabins and if you are planning on going I would recommend reserving one now. The cabins will hold from 2 to 6 people and you can reserve one at 970-641-2555.

If you are interested pm me or lets talk about it here. It's only a few weeks away so don't wait.

Another quick fishing trip, just got back and I'm toast. Fished my ass off and was well worth it. I wait all year for the opportunity to chase hatches and the hatches were on. Fish were rising everywhere. Just had to figure out what specific bug they were eating. Stone, caddis and may flies were all on the water. It was a challenge determining what was on the menu today. After screwing around trying to match the exact bugs on the water I settled for a red #16 humphy. Finally!! Spent the rest of the afternoon catching and releasing healthy brown trout. Pretty much the same thing today.

I was surprised that the water temps were so low, 60 above Byers Canyon and 50 at the confluence of Williams Creek and the Colorado. For anyone interested the temps will remain low as long as they are releasing 200 cfs from Williams Fork Reservoir. And that means active fish.

Still going to Taylor Park for a 3 day trip at the end of this month. My cabin is full but will give info on the trip to anyone interested.

Off to hit the Gunnie, will fish from pontooner on a 100 yard long pool, private access, till dark 2 fatties rolled.........;.

Very nice, I'm mad jealous gentlemen. And CM damn still love them counter tops. ha.

Rollin' my brother, doin' our fair city justice... just be careful, cuz when you tell people about paradise, they tend to come in droves and screw everything up.

Don't worry tty, the whole world thinks that has all been burned up.

By the way where is everybody???? There has been less and less going on here for months now. I know things slow down in the summer months but this is turning into a ghost town.

C-Man looking close at your fisherman's breakfast and just wondering...is that a pipe on your plate??? You are to funny dude!!
My garden is thriving, bugs are under control and most things are growing out of control except broccoli and pole beans. The broccoli is growing well but not producing yet and my pole beans are dying??? Thats ok though I have a good crop of bush beans coming in and have just started producing. Also my fricken tomatoes haven't started turning yet, gonna get some red dye and fire them up if they don't start soon.

Let's go on letting them think that, too- lol

I think the DDOS ('distributed denial of service' cyberattack against the farm website) attack and the difficulty of getting on the site has hurt traffic in the last few days, before that, it's just summer... time to get off the computer and get outside!

Fishing on Monday and Tues. Found some great beaver ponds on willow creek pass. Has a ball catching brook and a few cutthroat. Here is the grand prize of the day.
