Hello, this is my first grow. Just trying to get a feel for it this go around. I planted my seeds a little late 6-9-2020, but they seem to be comming along nicely. My question is about the size of the container. The pots I'm using are 7.5 in wide by 6.5 inches deep. My plants are already over a foot long. Will these pots be enough? Or do these need to be transplanted to a larger one? Any advice is appreciated!

Plants will always do better in bigger containers, tho that one does look pretty small for being as old as it is. However if you are going to transplant they to do is asap so that you are not stressing out the plant when it is in full flower.
Good luck

The bigger the pot, the bigger the plant. It looks to me like you are not getting enough light, besides being in too small a container. Check out other posts with small plants with more vegetation than yours. What’s in your soil?

looking for smart pot advice. please checkout my post from earlier today. thx
I read your other post earlier but it wasn't very specific; are you looking for size for pots for indoors or out because you reference growing both

How big do you want to grow them outside? and inside what is your height and space restrictions?

Answer as specifically as possible for a more accurate answer to your questions

I was looking at starting autos and photos indoors, transplanting the photos and larger of autos into larger outdoor pots in May. During the warm months I was hoping to do an indoor grow maximizing the window of opportunity. We have power outages during the inclement weather . I don't want to be growing December / January due to weather concerns. I don't want a power outage to cause the plant's to merph out.

My space is a closet grow, 8 foot height 6 foot wide, two foot depths. I bought a decent light, Electric Sky 300 V3. I needed a light that had some technological advances as far as controls went. Cloudline fan and filter. With those size restrictions 5 gallon smart pot was what I was thinking. Planning on making some changes with the construction of a larger grow area.area.

Ideally the strains that will produce highest yields I would grow 3-5 plants outdoors. Getting those started indoors I in one gallon smart pot transplanters.
On a side note, there is a large seed breeding facility neaby. The GM offered my dad their once run potting soil for my garden. I can get a lot of potting soil for container gardening. A little anxious abt possibly using second hand medium. A lot of questions to ask the GM abt their practices & IPM.
I will answer any other questions you might have to help me out. I appreciate you getting back to me.

Your indoor space is the same size as my drying area, you could fit about four plants in there using 3 or even 5 gallon pots, so I think you are right on track

Regarding outdoors, you'll have to talk to an outdoor grower about specifics because you can use anything from 25 gallons to over a hundred gallons depending on your goal outside, good luck!

1 gallon of medium to 1 ft of plant, also top and train this technique is amazing at bushing out your plants nd boosting you’re harvest

About what week, 3 - 4? --top the autos & LST-- super-cropping outdoor/photos @wk5-6?

I'm honestly relieved to hear that. I'm going with 5-gallon Smart Ports for indoors.
LF outdoor opinions now...
Thanks!

If u planted that in june and it is now x mass there is something wrong bc it should have finished by now, there are no branches, im sorry and not trying to critize in any way but at this point pot size is least of problems, what is it? Was it bag seed? Is it a male? When you buy feminized seeds do reaserch, buy a strain that is suited for your environment, im in conneticut river vally, i need a strain that can handle high heat as last year we had over 35 days above 90f and many days with humidity 75% + then in mid sep it starts to get cold and your plants start to flower, depending on weather we chop no later than mid oct in a good year, but start 3rd week of april and put outside after labor day. Depending on strain we use 5 or 7gal pots bc it is illegal to cultivate. But now it's winter, do a quick ph test that will tell you if plant is were it's supposed to be, today is shortest day of year your plant is allso not getting proper light, but if you live in the deep south and it can survive the winter and your ph is good i would transplant and let it alone, it's probably dormant if you used non feminized seeds.
