I picked up a copy of Ed's book back in 77 and read it cover to cover many times before passing it on. Even though I've got a Kendall I'm old and still prefer books but being here, with all the experimentation going on in real time is pretty awesome.I had a book my lazy partner I was working with loaned it to an oxygen thief.
I went crazy when police raided him and took book. If I weren’t sure I would reference book.
Luckily I had been studying it for years.
But couldn’t memorise the lot so omitted some indoor info as applicable.
Reason I went mad was I was just starting up indoor, but then that’s when started lurking on forums so not all bad.
I think I still have my original copy of Ed Rosenthal's first book on growing somewhere, from the 70's. Looking back, there was NO internet and getting any kind of info was almost impossible. Ed's book was falling apart from daily readings I made, and made about every mistake that you could make. Looking back at the early book, it was sort of a "Fly by the seat of the pants" book for growing, since he also didn't have the knowledge that is available on this site. Things have come a LONG way.YOU should write a book. Love every response of yours I've read here.
"Smothering mother" nails it. Almost every problem we hear about is caused by just that, except insects. Although causing problems by over watering/fertilizing/stressing will allow insects to do more damage.
Most successful growers I've talked to through the years all say the same thing, "Leave 'em the F... alone." They're right.
When we start out we've usually heard so many things we don't know where to begin. Try different things, find one that seems to work and stick with it. You can always try this or that on one plant and see what happens.
Child’s garden of grass was my first weed book...don’t remember what was in it,, been about 45 years ago lolI picked up a copy of Ed's book back in 77 and read it cover to cover many times before passing it on. I haven't shown any updates from my Malawi project, now in 6th week of flowering. These are different than just about ANY strain that I've grown, Sativa, Indica, or otherwise. They are currently about 6.5 ft tall split into 4 main colas. What is the most unusual about them is the main stems. They are a lot like bamboo canes, very hard and stiff. They are very resistant to being trained and aren't too bushy, but tower over the others.Day 56 - 9th Week of Flowering
Coco coir - 640ppm/5.9 ph
Jack's FeED 5-12-26/Growpito enzymes and microbes
78-84f Leaf Surface Temp - Night Time Temps 62-68f
60-65% RH
4" Light Height
10.5/13.5
Getting some nice red pistils. I don't have much going on besides #3 fattening up and changing the light schedule to 10.5/13.5. Pictures though.

If I can get photos, I will. I can't believe how large they have become in 6 weeks, and they are now beginning to grow above the level of the light. I'll try to get some photos, eventually.
Here are the latest pics at 6 weeks. Regular, closeup, and a distance shot. I wish they grew a little bushier, but perhaps I can still spread these out a little after the others make room for it!Day 56 - 9th Week of Flowering

Malawi at 6 weeks flowering. Promix in 5 gallon bucket w/ 20% composted manure, 1 cup wood ashes, Jacks 20-20-20 (and now Jacks blooming fertilizer). No Ph checking, no TDS meters, no potions or powders other than 1 dose Tria. This is just to show that expensive stuff isn't needed for good results. Here are the latest pics at 6 weeks. Yes, they are probably around 6.5 ft at the tallest. They are darker green than most of my others... I can't wait to see what these are going to look like when they finish. They are starting to thicken up and I'm hoping that they don't get too much taller. I would love to try these outdoors, but my success outdoors is dismal. At this poit I'm collecting a bunch of different strains that I've wanted to try, after using mostly the same strain for decades. Don't get me wrong... I love these old strains, I just have enough to last me for a while and I'm going to investigate some Indica strains for a while.Day 59 - 8th Week of Flowering

He’s that busy at mo that he’s not doing much on the forums at mo.
Hi there, so all these are auto flower and if they all are how many plants do u have, my little buds are just now popping up on my 3 plants, so I have auto flower seeds in fridge,do you think I need to bring them to room temp before potting them thought I might just plant the inside in the sun warmth and leave for a week. Have my friend watching my three babies , what is your take on this. Thx againDay 59 - 8th Week of Flowering

Should be fine straight out of fridge. I like to soak in glass for 12- 24 hours to soften shell ( if they sink time to remove from glass) then I use antiseptic wipes on a plate, mostian so damp pour excess water off but do not let dry out.Hi there, so all these are auto flower and if they all are how many plants do u have, my little buds are just now popping up on my 3 plants, so I have auto flower seeds in fridge,do you think I need to bring them to room temp before potting them thought I might just plant the inside in the sun warmth and leave for a week.
