Awesome... That made sense..Quote is below, you want to Google the DIY LED Calculator and also start reading through data sheets until you start to understand some of the data. And then below should help:
RightSo on the driver HLG-600H-2100B
That would be a dimmable (you'd need to add the dimmer) driver capable of 600Watts. It would run the LED COBs at 2.1Amps (or 2100 milliamps).
If you had 36V COBs they would produce ~75W a piece (36x2.1=~75). You could run 8 of them for a total of ~600w. I don't think that's the most efficient way to do it, but it would work.
What if i bought a driver that could handle 8 36v cobs as you wrote out above, BUT i only had 4 of the 36v cobs. Could i build it with just the 4 cobs and add the other 4 as i could afford them?So on the driver HLG-600H-2100B

I think it puts too much load on the remaining COBs. That's what I remember seeing. What if i bought a driver that could handle 8 36v cobs as you wrote out above, BUT i only had 4 of the 36v cobs. Could i build it with just the 4 cobs and add the other 4 as i could afford them?
I also would like a link to a video where someone builds and wires one together... U know any links? Anybody?

Check out GrowMAU5 on YouTube he has some super nerdy awesome LED videos.
If you need some advice on the fan leaf tying technique I used just let me know. :cool:As you can see the plants have lost some of thier shape as i started gently tying down my fan leaves,,, :):)
ok ok ok..... kidding...
But however i did start gently tucking them under the lower branch tops. I also gently starting squishing the main stem below the very top node. I started this 2 days ago and have some branches that have no found their way to the top to battle out the main for king branch of the hill...
That would be the one in front of the fan closest to the bottom of the screen. It looks really nice, excellent node spacing, nice big leaves, branching is thick, quick growing, im very happy with it so far... Thought i might have caught a wiff of it yesterday when I opened the tent.Nice I just picked up the urkle x gsc
I want to clip off the 4 biggest fan leaves on my autos really really bad! If the were out the way my tops would really get the light, and they would put all thier energy into the tops, but 4 big ass fan leaves got to be producing masive amounts of the percentage of my plants photosynthesis.. What a debate this could cause...Well couple shots of the garden. Today was the first time i checked the EC and they took a 100 ppm chunk out of it! So its on like Donkey Kong now! For the ones that pay attention to the little details, and about autos,, ive got these conclusions to share with you. Both of my grows the Autos showed sex around day 20.
Today is day 24 and this was their first big meal that dropped the EC... Hydro with a monitor is awesome in the fact that i can see what, when, and why.
I think the plants actually put on a little size in the last 48 hrs, one being 13 inches as the tallest and i think the runt is 8. Seeing a growth spurt while at the same time monitoring and seeing the Ec drop, is pretty cool... I figure they are starting stretch right now. I figure by this time next week they will be almost twice as tall... Prob somewhere around 2'- 2.5 feet tall...
I am ready to take them to the new room, but damn im not looking forward to moving all this shit! Draining, and unhooking everything, and then getting it all put back together. Its gonna be rough! But im ready to have my bedroom back! I had to split it. Thank god its 12 x 14....
I'm a student of the soak now. Whatever works for yaThat would be the one in front of the fan closest to the bottom of the screen. What do you plan to grow them in? And be gentle with the germination. I would recommend letting that white tail poke out real good. A no peak 48 hr in paper towel after a 24 hr soak in a shot glass of ro water was what i did. I skipped the soak with the first 4 and they cracked and that was it. My second attempt everything popped.. so prob my error but the soak made me feel better about my chances...

If they was photos, i would try this. But being autos, 24 days old, its a real big gamble, cause i have no idea what would happen. The damn problem is,,,, Im a gambler.....
Appreciate the opinion! I just did a lil main stem squezze on the 2 tallest ones, and i think im gonna remove the fans. I might sleep on it! lolIf it makes you feel better I'd pluck em.
My auto I cut off all new growth tips making it single cola grow and she's still chugging. Hasn't shown flowers yet. I thought a light cycle under 24hrs sets autos into flower? She doesn't look to be stretching yet.
But on photos I would also pluck them. My last round I removed almost all the upper fan leaves on week 1. Pics somewhere in my thread.
And at the end of flower there was light hitting the lowest buds. They were just as potent as the upper buds.
Fan leaves are mostly for nutrient storage in bloom. They photosynthesize but I believe The sugar leaves growing out of the buds feed the buds directly after what I've seen/experienced.
If you say there's only 4 fans needing removed cause theyre blocking the light from the tops. I wouldn't hesitate to remove them. But that's just me.
Well over this year I will phase out the single 600 for a led.@EventHorizan
those drivers you were looking at are not remotely what you want to be able to drive cobs
let me link you to a good site that sells prefab diy cob builds
all you have to do is build the frame
http://timbergrowlights.com
even if you didnt get from there you can see what parts you need for a cob build
what drivers and model of cob
once you understand how it works
it is easy peasy
600w of led means you can get to 320w driver buildsWell over this year I will phase out the single 600 for a led.
I would prefer to have a 600 watt dimmable 10 -100% that our spaced so that they can veg a 4x8 by them selves while in flower my 1k hps is in a vented hood sits in the middle of the cobs.
No I'm replacing at least 1k, and preferably both 600, even tho I'm still gonna have that hps in the middle for final 2 weeks. But this year I want to reduce costs in the garden. ..600w of led means you can get to 320w driver builds
spread each con 12" apart on each side
but with cobs if you are replacing a 600 with 600w of cob you will def be saturating the hell out of that garden
