Yup, thinking on it today and I think I'm gonna go see him tomorrow. I got offered a job working at a large outdoor CBD farm that a buddy of mine started, they're looking to diversify into other avenues of production and he wants to bring me on board to help run his greenhouses. Thankfully they wont be doing overpriced and over packaged buds though lol, but I cant really say much more about it here. They're legal and fully licensed, and doing cool things that I morally support which is pretty great. Could be a huge opportunity to finally embed myself in the new legal growing world and do what I love for a living. I'm pretty excited about it, but I need to find out more of an exact job description and compensation numbers before getting too excited.
But for now... one can dream lol.

Your killing it. I think this style of growing is your calling. Experienced grower or not a good size grow being first time hydro in a fairly complex system you nailed it and I don't think anyone could out do ya on a first time grow in a system like that.

IMO jump on that ship man

Thanks bro. It hasnt been a perfect run but I'm pretty happy with it and so far I'm really liking the rockwool. And I know most people seem to say that hydro just vegges faster but flowering is the same.. Well it may be the same length of time in flower, but without question the buds are growing bigger than usual. My cookies especially are becoming absolute monsters, but my bubba is a great indicator too. It's also getting extremely chunky. And I like it a lot.

I think I'll be running another round in wool when I get back from Mexico... No doubt about it. And for the next one I'll have plenty of time to veg them out to the size I want. That's really my only disappointment with this grow is I had to flip them when they really could have used an extra week in veg.
But even considering that, my yield looks to be a big one.

Yeah it's looking like a good haul. I feel the same way about bud size and vigor. Idk I only have 1 grow in dirt but it just seems to me I would have had a lot more out of my hydro. I yielded significantly less in a 6x6 with more plants and head room then I do in my 4x4 hydro. I chalked it up to first grow but something tells me there is more to it than just my first soil grow.

For sure there is. I mean, a dialed in super fluffy soiless grow comes close, but what I'm seeing this round is even though I'm out of my comfort zone and have made a series of mistakes, the buds are still outproducing my dialed in soiless grows. I can only imagine how well this will do once dialed.

I think the key for me next round is to run 1 or max 2 compatible strains, and I'm probably going to start in 3" cubes and plant up to unislabs. Seeing the way the root mass fills mostly the lower half of the hugo tells me I might be better off using a wide and shallow media like the unislab.

I think its still more the grower and environment. No question constant feeding grows bigger plants but not neccessarily bigger flowers. And constant feeding if overdone will hurt potency and flavor.

If the plant in dirt is healthy and properly cared for in the same environment i think it can yield similar numbers.

I got 15 oz first try with a 315 cmh in a 3x3 tent. And 22 oz from a 600 in a 4x4.

I am sure i could match the 2 pounds you can do in your setup with some practice under your more powerful light. You are more than matching 1000 hps. If i used one and practiced i think i could do 2.5 in a 4x4 with 4 big plants.

Now lets talk flavor and complexity. Hydro vs organic soil. Lol. Then of course defoliation and flushing. ;-)

A point about flavor and complexity.. something I've noticed is the strains smell a bit different than usual. Not better or worse but just a little different. More clearly defined Terps, the BK just reeks of myrcene and the VK interestingly has much more limonene than it did in the last run. Very citrusy and kushy at the same time, super different. But those are both monoterps, which could possibly indicate there are fewer sequiterpenes present..? Its hard to say honestly because they smell very nice and a little more pungent than usual. And sequiterps arent readily produced indoors anyway compared to under full sun. But I'm keeping myself open to all possible pros and cons of this system still. I definately dont think the difference is any sort of deal breaker, and for all I know it could end up better than usual if overall plant health is maintained more easily in the long run. I'll need to make a solid review and assessment when this grow is over to compare pros and cons. But so far Hydro is looking like a winner.

Only I haven't been able to run it more than just over 300w it puts out to much light. I know it seems like a waste right but I have no doubt with a same reflective walls and a bit more height or could easily do a 6x6 space with full advantage of CO2. I think in large part to the reflective nature but with my height I would have been better off with 400w's on 2 boards. I can't take anything away from this light though it's a lot more bang for the buck than I first calculated. It's way less than the 30w per sq ft. But idk I'm getting the intensity and spread that works absolutely great in my experience. In an open room with more height I can see using it full bore. But I got consistently even lux of 80k at my peak growth with just over 300w and the plants start to show light stress above that.

Well that changes my comparisons. But we didnt mention co2 which i dont use.

But wow. You are really producing in that space.

I think I did a lot of small things right by accident. Some of it was planned but honestly most of it was by accident. Sure learned for future setups though. And definitely CO2 is a huge part

Bit of an update. Everything was a little overfed a couple weeks ago when I was having issues with my ppm pen, especially the cheese so forgive the bit of tip burn.. But the buds are piling up nice. Bubbas are looking chunky.

FZ4 smells like orange candies and is starting to take on a bit of purple. Very interesting plant.

Dragon cheese is super chunky and stinks. Like it just stinks of cheese. It's actually VERY close to how I remember the exodus cut smelling back in the late 90's. Nice cheesy plant.
