I am currently in the process of setting up a knockoff UC system for my mothers. Is this a good system for moms or are the massive roots going to give me problems in 5 - 6 months time (or even before that)????

Others with more experience can say for sure....but my guess is that you'd clog dat bitch full in way less than 6 months the way these systems make roots....

not to mention you'd need a hi-boy and a chainsaw to take "clones".....

After seeing what TK did in 3 weeks of veg I'll be SLAMMIN mine through with very little veg time.....

good luck

Good I have 2 months in which veg out new moms Sounds like I should have plenty of clones (my moms were areo before but due to power outages in my area I am trying to switch to a more forgiving system)

Hello from the other side of the divide.
Nice work Sky High! I am currently running a doubleds system and a under current, to compare the two.
I have a couple of questions.
Where did you get the foil wrap?
Do you think you would get bigger plans if you used a 10 inch net pot instead of the 8 inch? Is there room for it in the lid?
Peace

I did find out that CC is offering their systems "barebones" as well as complete as they are now. The barbones do not include any air pumps or stones which allows for growers to do this themselves.

Whats the price on these barebone systems UCMENOW?

Check the site.

Not sure on the pricing....should be listed on the web site soon?....looks like they are doing some updating.

Looks like I left a few of you in the desert with no water on this thread....

Apologies all around for the lack of updates....

Let's hit the HIGH points....

my system is rocking. Stable. Easy to operate.

I figured out a few things along the way.

I could have gotten by easily with one airpump. On this system with 2 pumps, I had to install inline valves to crank the airflow down at the onset of trying to push roots out of the netpots because the bubling was so violent that (IMO) it was sheering the tiny roots right off. After I turned it all down I saw massive root growth within a few days.

After a few days of working around the lights and getting burned (LOL, stoner!) I came up with some "cages' for the lights that I made out of fencing material I had purchased on a previous grow to cage around the plants.

Still veggin'. It's taken a bit longer than expected due to sheering off the roots and the fact (IMO) that this Blueberry isn't the fastest growing plant out there. Even so..she's a tasty/stoney girl....so whatever might be lost in weight over another strain that may yield better is made up on quality in the end. Fuckin' YUM.

Also waiting on some of the soil plants strewn about the floor to pop out new roots as I just transplanted a bunch of them into larger homes. Also need to take a few clones to keep things going....

but we're gettin' there! Should be flipping in 10 days or so....

bulbs shouldn't burn...just bowls

Those bulb safety cages are clutch....that's got to be vertical lighting tip of the YEAR....O.S.H.A. would approve. ;)

Hey bro, I had the same problem with too violent of bubbles hitting the bottom of my netpots. I'm using 10" netpots and the roots were only coming out along the edges of the bottom rim and nothing in the middle. Also, a lot of the roots were "stuck" in the netpot...might be a problem down the line. Didn't seem to have much of an affect on my girls as they looked better than ever. Even so, i'd rather see more roots coming out than staying in the netpot.

Looks like you got it under control. Everything looks good! Crazy growth with these kinds of systems.

Loving the diy...I'll be following along for sure.

Excellent update and verticle bare bulbs sky high! Just curious on the parts list for those verticle bulbs such as the socket assembly, cords, and cages? Also now that you're about to grow some trees I'd love to hear about your ac unit and dehumidifier... :cool

Thanks for hangin in there and stoppin by again, folks.

Shady..... all yer seeing right there is a hydrofarm cordset, a 12" peice of "safety wire", and a cut/bent cage made from fencing material I purchased at Casa De Pot. Grab those wire cutters and make it happen....LOL.

No A/C here. With the cool (cold now..we're still technically in "Winter") air we have here in the Summer...I think I can sqeeek by without it.

A few days ago I did a test. It was 65F outside...which would simulate a very warm night here in summertime (most nights are 40's-50's). I ran all the lights and ventilation as normal... and temps topped out at 78F.

If it somehow gets too hot...I'll drop a light or stagger them so all 7 lamps aren't on @ once rather than add an A/C and suck up all those extra killowatts. Not only would i have to add a curcuit to make it happen...it would go agains THE REASON I moved here in the first place.... no A/C/ HOT temps or sweating.... LOL

In this climate you need a humidifier...not a dehumidifier.... if you wanna mess with the humidity, that is. I'm goin' au' natural here...FWIW. It'll be drier than most folks think is optimal, but on my last round I added a humidifier and kept things in the 50-60% range....and saw no real benefit. However, I think I may have seem a bit of PM on the lower leaves.....something I've NEVER had here in 20 year of growin....so the humidifier is suspect....and is OUT of the mix. Screw that crap. Bring me that Rocky mountain air.....crisp and clean. I'll take what >might< be a smaller yield to not have issues (I've seemingly created myself).

We'll see how it goes...but that's the plan right now.....

thanks for the comments
