We the people of colorado voted in 64. lots of folks worked to get it passed. so if we did it your state can as well.
Last thing we want is another flood of folks comming here to make bank on pot.
Look what happened with mmj it was great for awhile till everyone and their dog started up doing their gig and now look.....
The both of you including several others are guilty of turning this into a CO vs CA dick measuring thread. All I did was state facts. Did I hate at all? No....I just simply stated that you guys are haters and elitists (generally speaking) and it's true. Once again you have both proved my statement to be correct.
I didn't even move to CO for the MMJ industry. In fact I had no idea it was even blowing up like it was until shortly after we moved there. I was in the outdoor industry out there supervising a warehouse and ended up hurting my back. A dispensary owner heard about the things I did with MMJ in CA and pulled me in. I was very reluctant to do so but needed work. I wasn't trying to get my piece of "your" pie and eat it too. I just wanted to work and climb. I didn't get my ass handed to me at all. I enjoyed my stay there immensely but in the end it just wasn't the right place for my wife and I. We weighed the pros and cons of both states and CA just happened to be a better fit for us. Making an informed, adult decision to move back to a state where you own a house on the coast, have friends, family and were born and raised is hardly getting your "ass handed to you". We told ourselves we would give CO a solid shot for a year and if we didn't fall in love with it we'd just move back to out home...we stayed for two years. Do I have a couple gripes with CO? Obviously. And I'm going to state those gripes in a thread where someone is seeking honest opinions. Are my gripes founded? Most definitely. They've been proven time and again in this thread.
Sorry If I offended anyone but I'm just telling it like it is.
I didnt really care if it passed or not. Had to vote yes though, even with all the cons.We don't even need something like 64 to pass here. I heard most patients and growers voted against 64 just like we did here with prop 19. Between the loose mmj laws and decrim in CA things are fine just the way they are. We have had huge floods of folks coming out here to open disps and set up huge grows just like you guys are experiencing. It's been happening for a lot longer and on a larger scale. Do we try to deter them and act as though they're all trying to take food off our tables? Nope. It was exactly the same way here. Dispensaries started opening, everyone and their mother moved out here to get in on it and now it's turned into a mess. Do we as "native" Californians bitch about all the outsiders coming in and contributing to the problem? Nope.
I think that we, as a group, are far more accustomed to huge influxes of people than folks in Colorado may be. However, there are those places that are exceptions to that 'rule,' and I think many, if not most of the rural and ranching areas of the state qualify. It is through these areas that Proposition 8 passed, and where the consensus against another particular group has much the same flavor ("illegal" aliens). Just start up a conversation in my county about them and you'll soon hear bitching about them taking their jobs. Yet, last year we had a shortage of workers who were actually willing to work! Watch the cost of that food skyrocket, too, as farmers have to work harder to get workers who'll WORK (cuz 'mericans ain't them). We don't even need something like 64 to pass here. All right, this is how it is. When the pioneers came along on their horses and wagons, Colorado was a very inhospitable place to be. You had to be a proud hearty soul, all the pussies moved on to California or went back east where they came from. So we just started with a stronger gene pool. lol. Its not hate, just a little rivalry. The perception of California is Holywood, rich movie stars, too many gangs, too much crime. Yes Denver is not far removed. I was born here and I have relatives in Texas and California, I think we all do. I've spent a lot of time in California, some great people and places, same with Texas. And I read your post, I might take a job in Washington next spring, Its over in November and i might stop and spend some time in California. A lot of ifs, but I will re-read your posts if I do, I know you know what your talking about.I'm not answering any more questions, because, honestly, after taking the time to answer what I thought were specific questions specifically, directly and correctly, I was blown right past and saw that all the OP really wants is another fucking fest. We have enough of those and why bother, only to be ignored?
I say stay where you are and change the laws in your state. Far better use of resources and time, and it will affect a far greater sphere of influence.
I'm in some agreement regarding perception of this issue with delae. I've never spent time in Colorado except connecting through Denver, but I do get the impression from many online personas, here and elsewhere, of "Don't come here!" It's just a perception. But then, perception is reality.

Again, this is my perception.

It's because Californians don't feel the need to defend their state the way CO folks seem to NEED to. People "from" CO have major beef with Californians but no one from CA gives a shit or even knows about it. It's a one sided war. CO is full of haters and elitists and they are obviously proving that quite boldly in this thread. I've been there, done it, and moved back.....I'll take CA over CO any day. Not one person from CA has chimed in with this "better act right or I'll get you" "pick up after yourself and I'll allow you to stay here" fuckin' bullshit. It's laughable and completely absurd.
This thread is a really poor way to judge things for yourself (unless you seek biased opinions). As you can see it's full of people from CO trying to hype how bad ass "their" state is while trying to deter you/everyone from moving there. Visit all three states, go to each state for a couple weeks at a time, talk to people face to face, check out cities you're interested in, research which states MJ laws you prefer, then make a decision. A weed forum is a horrible place to base a big move on. Moving is expensive...especially if you don't like the state you move to and decide to move again like I did.
Time for me to go smoke a late night J on the beach...legally. ;)
Ty, New Yorkers migrating into CO? I never heard that one before.
Texan and Cali peeps yes, but I ain't met a NY transplant here in the 13 years or so I been in CO.

You're a bit confused. First, what you're misinterpreting as 'hating' is actually called 'pride' and 'protectiveness' around here. You wanna litter? Then stay in polluted, grubby-ass Cali! We like our state without trashbags and wrecked campsites, and we're not afraid to say so.
I know, respecting your home state is a foreign concept perhaps, but if you come here, you'll see why we feel this way. If you were hoping for an apology, you came to the wrong place.
If the price gets much lower there wont be much financial motivation to grow, in the end maybe thats a good thing.
