Well, we hit the grocer and stocked up, got more gas cans and filled em all to keep the generators running, got extra water and batteries, food for the animals. And then I tackled a project I been putting off....rescuing the barn from the jungle. Since we are gonna have to take the plastic off the greenhouses we needed a safer spot to move some plants to shelter them from the storm. I should have gotten some before photos to lol. I'll tell you what, sugar cane is a bitch to cut thru with a weed whacker and a push mower lmao.

Bro if I was you I would get a 2nd weed eater and run a saw blade on it.....
This is how I clean trees 10ft down..and cut small one8....

Plus it will give you a extra head for weed eating.....

Just saying...it's something to think about.....
Man I'm going though the same but in tn.....

Keep up the fight bro......

Oh jeez. Please be safe. Remember water will probably do more damage than wind, and flooding is the scariest. Especially w the storm weakening as it approaches. Source: 30 years of dealing w Caribbean hurricanes in both mountain and beach property in my family (and sometimes myself).

Aren't you using a machete for anything much tougher than grass?

well, quick update. hurricane douglas is now a catergory 4 and is currently forecasted to make landfall in the wee hours between sat and sun...current models are showing it making landfall right on top of us.

We got the greenhouses down, plants into the barn, and getting the property as ready as possible for a big storm. see yall on the other side!

FWIW check out Windy.com if you haven't yet. I have it set up to show a map and when rain/wind goes where. They aren't 100 percent but it's one of the best options I've found to track a storm.

On the right of the screen there is a line of settings. Select Rain, Thunder. Type Hawaii in the top left location area. I have a wheel on my mouse that lets me scroll in and out and I scroll out until I picked up the weather mass I want to track. There is also a +/- in the top right hand corner to scroll things in and out. The time line on the bottom of the map moves to let you see where the nasty stuff is moving when.

With any luck the nasty goes beside you. It looks like you'll know on Sunday.

Best wishes.
