Here is a shot of trichomes from a mature bud at the top of the canopy picked a few minutes ago. This one seems more mature, with mostly cloudy trichomes. (?)

Seems like I can afford to wait a bit more.

Wondering what to do about nutes now. I've been watering down the concentration in the reservoir for a few days. Runoff down to 750, but input much lower than that.

I think I'll bump things back up slightly for a few days and hold there.

Well, quick and dirty. I poured 6 gallons of runoff back into the tank. Runoff EC was 0.80 or so. Tank was down to .16. Combined, just under 0.6.

What do you guys think about this? Is this normal or do I have to worry about them?

It could be a form of light bleeching or something else i just can’t remember and if memory serves me right it only happens under blurple lights and is not a negative but rather may be positive and contain higher cannabinoids in those bleeched areas.

dont take this information as 100% fact but i have read on this before and thats what comes to mind.

Honestly we tried to read up on it and so far I could only verify what it s not, I will try to look up on this lightbleech, we kept both lights during the flowering on so maybe that’s what it is, but there seem to be a lot of trichomes and on some places they literally glow in the blurple

Yeah its stressed induced benefit brother. Its not a bad thing but quite the opposite. If I remember correctly those portions teated significantly higher.

Much like crop steering, it takes advantage of inducing certain stressors at certain times to provide favourable results.

This is a benefit i an all but certain. But if I remember correctly there is a reason this only happens under blurple lights. If i had time id dig out where i found information on this but i dont have that amount of time atm.

Try to google cannabis bud light bleeching under blurple led

Well, I just couldn't wait, so I harvested one of my four plants today. The smallest one, which also has seemed to mature earlier than the rest, yielded some decent buds, but also a lot of what I think I've heard called 'butter buds'. Basically albino buds that formed deep enough in or under the canopy and got almost zero light. Definitely a side effect of the minimal defoliation I did, coupled with flowering too late and making the plants too tall. (Several lessons learned this grow.)

Here is what I took:

Now I can finally see a bit of the right rear plant. That plant has basically been untouched through most of flower.

I piled the cuttings on a Trim Bin. There is a lot of leaf to trim off the above.

The above image shows the trimmings. The vast majority of the leaves left in the bin are sugar leaves or show a fair amount of trichomes. The big fan leaves were cut and discarded separately. These leaves will dry, then be sifted, The leftover will go to oil. If I get enough dry sift, I'll try to make hash.

And the following shows the trimmed buds. Lots of sugar left on the leaves I left!

Lots of mostly smaller buds, a result of too much (?) topping. The other plants are bigger, I think.

The topping was an attempt to control height. Next time I grow, I'll flower at three weeks in veg instead of five. Shorter plants will get much more even lighting.

Besides the branches I hung, I chopped a lot of butter buds/albino buds and put them in paper bags for drying purposes. There was quite a bit, and while I don't know it will be great smoke, it may press well, or end up making cannabutter.

I tipped a bag over for a picture. The buds almost filled one bag, but I split them into eight bags for drying purposes.

I've been smoking some for several days. Not cured, of course, but you can tell the strength, and feel the tightness of the buds. It seems pretty good. I just wish I'd not let them get so tall as the lighting in flower really was suboptimal.

Can always do a dual harvest. Those lower buds will actually turn out your best according to some well respected growers ive talked to about it.

Remove the toos and give the bottoms another week to 2 to finish up.

Apparently it works very well in situations like yours

Just an option brother. Not a must. Maybe try one plant for yourself first

Been gradually harvesting, though not taking pics. I'm trying the 2-stage harvest, and I've cut 3 of the 4 plants so far down to about where the canopy should be for my light. I have some time pressure as I'm going on a trip June 4 and need to be sure my jars (or grove bags) can remain unopened for 2 weeks. At least I don't have to worry about a slow dry here! One plant was bone dry in 3 days, so I'm resorting to dropping the buds into jars much earlier, plus I'm leaving a lot of stem on them to try to provide a bit more moisture for slowing the dry down. The buds are awesome in size and stickiness. I'll do the 4th plant tomorrow, and I'll adjust the light for the ensuing canopy level.

I believe the phenomenon is known as "hash tips" and should be caused by too much light. Not a bad thing really if it's just the topbud and not destructive to leaves itself.
Don't know the exact mechanism behind it but trichomes are said to be a protective against harsh radiation, plus energetic lightrays can bleach pigments as well.

And it's looking quite nicely ;)

Yesterday was 11 weeks since the flip, and they just seemed right. Top 8 inches or so turning a shade of purple. Very very sticky. I cut the tops of my two biggest plants and trimmed them for hanging. The remaining buds are now exposed to light, and since I now have plenty of space, I turned up the intensity to light the whole canopy. My plan is to give the rest of the crop another week or two before harvesting.

Keep the intensity a bit lower imo. They dont need to make much energy at this point as you see in the fact they arent putting out new fan leaves. At this point they are using up more of the stored energy.

Just my opinion

Here's where keeping all those leaves may pay off. Lots of green fan leaves.

Buds are nice and tight.
