Good point, I've never done it but I see a few growers around here flush with tap and molasses, teaspoon per 5 gallons I think.

Or maybe it was a 1/4 teaspoon per 5 gallons. Not much anyway.

Edit: Nevermind this I ordered both scales..

Digital Pocket scale needs to be .1 or .01 gram accuracy? Do I care about the .01 because I can have a 1000 gram scale for weighing my yields too.. I don't wanna be missing a digit I need tho

This thread is great, with lots of interesting information. I grow in soil, and at the moment I'm on a very tight budget. I can buy the trace elements ready mixed very cheaply, and the other ingredients are cheap too. I would like to make a liquid feed that I can dilute, hopefully to match the Bio bizz range of nutes. Their NPK is as follows:

NPK 8-2-6 (Grow)

NPK 2-6-3.5 (Bloom)

Would it be possible for me to make a concentrated liquid feed, that I can dilute when I water my plants (they are in soil)?

What would I have to do differently, and what kind of concentrations would I need (metric measurements would be great! :D ) From reading the whole thread, people have hinted that the pH maybe a problem, but surely theres a way to balance it?

Man I suck at finding places to by single fertilizers in person, I even tried that Grow More in Los Angeles that JK talked about but they are wholesale only. I just want a place near Van Nuys, California I can go buy stuff in person, anyone no a place? Right now I need all the trace elements.

Call Grow More and ask for a dist. in your area. Horizon and John deere are dist. I am one but I need to order large amounts for killer prices.
If all you need are micros you can get reagent grade at lab supplies by the lb.
Or you could go for a nice drive to Mexico and get a 25lb of haifa's micro. Nice drive to ensenada this time of year. Worth the drive just for the amino's and kelp. 24 bucks for a 5 gal jug of humic acid. 20 a lt of megafol,22 for a 25kg bag of 20-20-20. Suerte JK

it looks like a straight solution, and not a concentrated additive. i'm surprised how high a ppm he recommends. the article correlates why it's better to flush with a very mild nute solution (non hypotonic).

Kool bloom also has some secret stress agents than can induce hermies I have heard. I would stay away from it.

AN has changed up their formulas before, if you look at different label, some of their products will have different ratios with the exact same logos.

trace nutrients are rather rare to find. Considering most noot makers dont even include them (with the exception of a few here and there), id sa you will have a hard time finding them in person. NPK maybe better luck.

To clarify, do you want individual trace elements or premixed blend of trace? I could mix you up a blend of trace and get it to you

hey all. I'm trying to find a nice amino acid supplement, something with like 15-20 aminos and about 50% purity.

Can anyone recommend anything? I found one seller on eBay, his formula looks ok, but it is mixed with

NH4 CL
Ammonium chloride NH4Cl (also Sal ammoniac, salmiac, nushadir salt, sal armagnac, sal armoniac, salt armoniack) is, in its pure form, a clear white water-soluble crystalline salt of ammonia. The aqueous ammonium chloride solution is mildly acidic. Sal ammoniac is a name of natural, mineralogical form of ammonium chloride. The mineral is especially common on burning coal dumps (formed by condensation of coal-derived gases), but also on some volcanoes.


Anyone know if this will work with hydroponic applications ?

I wanted the individual elements of the trace to mix myself up a batch, thanks for saving me time on looking locally SquarePusher.. I might be interested in that micro mix of yours I will just PM you.

Awesome thread! Wondering what kind of systems you guys are running when you talk about your ferts, especially Jk and Crysmatic. What Kind of system and how many days of flower are you doing with those ppm. Notice that Jk running higher P n K to the amount of nitrogen, wondering if this has to do with strain or nutrient delivery. I know fatman has a high N to P n K ratio, and I know he uses aero delivery. But does anyone know If this fert program is setup for short or long day strains, and if it is setup for maximum quality or for high yield short days, or just how many days he would generally flower. I would have the same question for anyone else thats post there fert program. Below is the information I based this off of, also Crysmatic notice your about in the middle with your npk ration. What kind of strains n delivery system are you using? The linux seamaiden you mention, is that n NFT system controlled by linux? Did you build yourself, would you post link if you have one?

Just curious though, doesn't anyone else think this seems a lot more complicated and time consuming than buying the bottles from the store? Even if this would end up being cheaper, the cost-benefit ratio seems a little out of whack.

If you're spending hours mixing up some homebrew nutes, I'm not sure you have a lot of time to manage your grow room. But maybe that's just my own inefficiency.

It's one thing for a little closet grow when you're mixing up nutes a few or tens of gallons at a time, but when you're mixing up hundreds upon hundreds of gallons, the initial time spent sourcing and formulating recipes becomes quite worth it.

Motherhugger it is because with 3, or 4 main salts and some micro nutrients we can duplicate any known formula. We aren't missing anything we have all the elements so much cheaper. So say I mix something up and it isn't working, my plants go pale or something.... Dump/remix for a couple bucks.

it takes MINUTES to measure out salts and add them to water. i can tweak a formula on the computer and mix up a different batch a few minutes later. you don't have to let this stuff ferment, or age, or sit. it's faster to mix my own, than to drive across town to buy nutes...and it's probably cheaper than the gasoline i burn.

maybe you just need more knowledge, and try it yourself.

I didnt start out to save money, was just trying to figure out which brand bottled nutes to go with, and sort of got sucked in.
