I don't like the tab timers. They seem to mess up often. We use a basic digital one.

You may not need a humidifier because the plants themselves humidify the air when they breathe out.
Yes, plants breathe. They breathe out water thru the pores in the leaves.

Or is it just a case of get the set up going. Check rh. And judge from there wich one i need. Was thinking in general what is the easiest way to keep rh optimal percentages

Good to hear from someone over the pond! I would say yes to the dehumidifier and like you said get one with a humidistat and possibly one with drain hose to make it easy on yourself and not have to empty all the time.

Just wish i was at your end of the pond. Not much great to brag about where im living lol. I might just go get both. Keep the small dehumidifier inside the tent. And always got the humidifier there if rh gets really low. Or might try the old cup/jug of water in the tent trick

I have had about 10 grows now and have made many of the noobie mistakes. It looks like you are planning out so hopefully things go well from the start. It took me a couple of grows before I started getting decent yields.

Personally, I have come to like wick systems with soil. They are easy, cheap, and give good yields.

One of the big noob mistakes is getting a cheap ph and ec pen. I did. Most of us make that mistake. Cheap ph pens can cause you to ruin a grow when you make corrections that werent needed. You want a bluelab ph pen. they are about 3-4X what cheap one costs. I dont recall seeing PAR meter on your list. Without a PAR meter you are only guessing at your light levels.

The other noob mistake is obsessing over your plants, molesting them a dozen times a day and making too many changes too quickly. Keep a grow diary and document feeding, watering, changes to the light, additives, temp etc. When (not if) you have a problem you can look at the diary to see recent changes. Knowing the history irs really the only way to diagnose issues. Here is a news flash: pretty much every problem you run into results in yellow leaves and brown splotches. without the diary, it is hard to tie the problem down.

The worst you can do is make quick decisions and treat the plant before you are sure. Always take your time when you think a plant is sick and look back in your diary to look for significant events.

If you can, use bug bomb in the loft before you start. You want to keep as many pests out as you can.

Good luck

Each to there own i spose everybody seems to get good yields off various methods as long as they get the environment and feeds right.

Im actually doing another setup soon. Autopot system. Self feeding so see how that method works too. Will be 12-16 plants. Going to start this 4 pot dwc first and put all my time into that.

Bought the pancellent ph and ec meters so no doubt i will have to order a blue lab. Like u said noob mistake

Will definately keep a grow diary and il take a look at bug bomb. Is it ok for the air to just circulate in the loft as i dont have a window or anything up there?

If you look at the octopot system, it is identical to the way I grow (Except I DIY the system). Try it sometime - I am astonished.

I am not sure if your air circulation is in regard to temp, humidity or smell. If it is truly closed, I would wonder if the available CO2 might get too low as the plants absorb and convert to Oxygen. The smell will definitely be off the charts in the loft. In the US, we usually call that space an attic, and there are vents under the roof overhang to prevent moisture build up and damage. If there is a vent available, you could make good use of it.

@Gdawwwg how much room do you have around the tent? You might be able to build a lung room. It's a small room that you dehumidify and cool the air if necessary before it goes in the tent. Your de-huey will go in there.

And since you will be growing DWC, let me call the Mr. DWC to help out. YO! @Aqua Man or @Dirtbag
There are lots of great growers here and these two will get you all set up the right way.

Not a lot of room left there. Only boarded out enough for the tent and like a metre spare next to it to place bits outside tent. Like airpump etc

I need all the help i can get lol

Well I have a viperspectra 600w 2 cycle reflector series $150 delivered, a great veg light so good I bought another light, however I also have a California light works bloom booster so do not know how light operates in bloom mode, I grow autoflowers and they do much better and yield higher under blue light this is bc a full spec light has red and ir in it causing autoflowers to go into flower prematurely affecting yield, if your going to run autoflowers this is a good light, if your going to run photoperiod plants spider farmer would be a better option, however viperspectra has come out with full spec lights some for large grows and cobs, Mars sucks steer clear customer service is non existant, if you want to spend serious cash black dog and California lightworks have good lights.

I have 2 200w mars hydro lights in my tent. They work great and I keep the drivers outside the tent to keep heat out.
For hydo, make sure you not dumping nute water on top of nute water. I am not sure if you planing on refilling your buckets or empty then refill with fresh nute mixed water but watch your ppm or it could burn your plants. I use filtered tap water instead of ro so i can keep some base nutrients.
well good luck!

I was planning on doing a full empty and change once every week. Although i hear some people stretch it to 2 weeks. Unless i get to a stage where they are drinking way more. Lets say bucket is half what it should be and its only been three days since nute change. I would just top of with phd water.

How do u filter your tap water? Thats my main worry. My tap water is sitting at roughly 250ppm.i was thinking of getting a zero water 4.7l filter but would take forever. So maybe half filtered, half straight tap water.

Does the filtered water work for you? And what do you use?

First time grower here too.

when you buy an EC/pH pen, look at what the calibration fluids cost. Mostly they are a little off from other brands. And in the long run, this is what you are going to spend most money on.

I noticed thatmost people use bluelab. I’ve got an Aquamaster. As long as you don’t buy a cheap $30/€30 piece, you should be good.

My $45 Milwaukee ph meter has been one of my better investments things never let me down and rarely needs recalibration :))

Just a quick update. Finally after few setbacks and a little more research im setup.

4 clones of super lemon haze bubbling away

Grow room temps and humidity all set nicely

1 clone possibly might not make it looking a little weaker than the others. But hopefully it will pull through. Still waiting on the roots to show at the bottom.

Anybody have issues with timers? Set mine for 18-6 and sometimes comes on like an hour late

So im setting up my first grow in the uk btw

Iv done a fair bit of reserach. And just about to order all i need to get setup. Heres what im starting with.

. Mars hydro 1.2x1.2x2m
With sp3000. 6inch inline duct fan carbon filter combo
. Iws oxypot single x4
. 2 oscilating 6inch fans
. 8 outlet air pump
. GH hydro flora grow nutes
. Hydroguard not available so thinking great white
. Digital thermometer
. Ph tester
. Ph up and down
. Humidifier & demudifier
. Scrog net
Not sure which ph pen or thermometer or ec readers to get. Alot on the market. Something budget and accurate would be ideal. Any suggestions??

Have i missed anything off??? Please let me know.

The plan
So i wanna put 4 plants in dwc. Single oxypots. 5 gallon buckets. With 2 airstone in each bucket. I was gunna use tap water(still need to test it to check ppm) but i have read that is not always great. Im hoping where i am its not too much of a problem. Use GH nutes because they seem a popular choice. And great white instead of hydroguard to keep roots healthy..iv seen the basics to run a smooth dwc grow.
. Keep water temps down
. Humidity and tent temps
. Ph 5.5-6.5
.change wateer once a week.
. Topping and lollipoping

Probably sick of nubes like me posting by now. But its worth a shot. Any advice or help is appreciated. Just want my first grow to go as smooth as possible. Feel free to take the piss i have thick skin
