Heres a simple vpd chart referenceView attachment 1309185
@Madbud, from the vpd chart, should I be looking for 70% humidity right? Should I adjust now or wait to see if they sprout first? My initial plan was to start off around 80%rh, then slowly bring it down to 70 the first week they sprout.

Also, if anyone has experience growing MAC 1, I have seen conflicting suggestions regarding care, as in I have read that MAC 1 prefers drier soil conditions, and last night I read in another forum that they were getting better results with a better soil. Like I said, always seems to be 2 sides, lol!

If you cover the seed with a cup the humidity inside will be fine. Five gallon bag is going to be difficult to water, and rookies are known for overwatering. The biggest advantage of solo cups is weighing them to know when its light enough to water, plus the clear cup shows root and water activity.

in small cups it’s a faster wet/dry cycle for faster root growth until a rootball is formed.. than transplant up..

If I cup it, it will need to hardened off after, right as in slowing adjusting to life without? I read up a ton and something from another forum (I think, hard to keep track) regarding watering. They broke down the percentages of how much water in needed. Something like 20% to maintain a level of saturation rate of 30% to 50%. Can't recall exactly right now, just smoked, lol. While cooking the soil was kept moist by using that 20% water rule, and then I have been having them under light while testing and dialing in my tent, while watering 1/4 gallon every 2 or 3 days. Might be just bs or I misread, or miscalculated. Kept giving it the squeeze test where it would hold together if sqooze, but quickly fall apart if slight disturbed.

Thanks. In my current situation, since I just planted directly in the 5gallon pot, any suggestions? Really hoping I didnt ruin those seeds!

So.... decided to check on them. Been trying to tell myself not to! Looks like on might be on the way! My phone is acting up, so horrible picture, but hopefully her sister are not too far behind!

Helmetheads suck lol, drop of water on it will soften the hinge. If the seed is planted deeper the soil pulls the shell off.
I'll try the water. Honestly, from what I read, I figured I planted a little too deep and would have to worry about it. Is it ok to wait a day or 2 to try and remove the shell?

Thanks. I was trying to avoid any transplant shock since I wanted to try mainlining and the aggressive pruning plus transplanting would make for an awfully long veg, right? Hard part is, there seems to be 2 camps on everything when it comes to growing. To dome or not to dome, transplant or not, organic vs salts, etc. Hard to keep up when both sides say there way is "better." I'm just here to learn and hopefully grow something smokable.🤷‍♂️
This is your first grow. Keep it simple and Momma Marijuana will reward you handsomely!! 🙂

I would not mainline your first time out. I would top the plant so you can see how it multiplies the bud sites but no more than that. MAYBE low stress training if you're adventurous but, again, keep it simple. Shouldn't take that much longer than just letting her go.

As far as the 2 camps it really depends on you in how you want to approach it. I try and keep things simple by not adding a ton of different nutrients and amendments. I use an all in one grow and an all in one bloom. A few amendments and that's it. The rest, in my opinion, isn't really worth it unless you're growing commercially, like 1000 plants +. As far as the dome/no dome, transplant/don't transplant I say there are a million ways to skin a cat. Just use common sense and that should guide you through 90% of your choices. The other 10% can be answered here at the Farm!

One thing I will press is that, if you don't know, find out how basic plant biology works. It will also answer a lot of questions.

If they don't come off in the next few days you can remove them with a pair of tweezers but be careful.

Thank you for this!

So last night I switched to 18h since I have been running 24h at 25% power on the lights. Well, woke up this morning and found 2 more sprouts! The 4th is still being shy🤞

Ok, so did my evening check. Had some humidity fluctuations, I am trying to adjust to 70-75%rh.

1st pic is helmet head with helmet removed. Should I be concerned about her leaves?
2nd pic #2 looking lovely
3rd pic #3 kind of dainty compared to her sisters
4th pic #4, I lightly scratched the surface, didn't see anything. Gonna give her til Saturday and then probably scrap her.

Gave them all a light spray of coconut water diluted with filtered water.
