Hi,

This is my first grow. A mix of feminized Grandaddy and Gelato. Grown in coco, in 5 gallon fabric bags. I’m running AN CoCo nutrients on an auto fertigation system. Had some PH issues in the seedling/early veg stage but it’s fixed. Then had a cheap grow tent break and drop a light and carbon filter on them, but they survived.

Anyways, I don’t have a frame of reference, so do these look ok for plants germinated Oct. 15?

Oh, and the plant with the burnt leaves is the one the light fell on.

First grow plants will be smaller, and grow slower, because you never know 100% what youre doing at first. atleast, my experience. but im a little more slow of a learner than others so. They do look good, they look healthy, looks like you have the right idea with the netting going on. good job. :D

^ they look great for 1st attempt. Great job. Just write down tons of notes about whats happening in this grow.
You will thank yourself when you have something to look back on. On the following grows that is.

btw are you running the PH perfect line?
I am, but I’m finding I still need to adjust the PH. When I didn’t adjust the PH it was high, locked out some nutes and when I adjusted, the EC was more than they could handle. Had to take them back to just Cal/Mag water until I replanted. Gradually took up the EC. Now they seem to be rocking. The last few days I’ve been focussed on training branches to get more light in to the under growth.

When I go into flower, I have a 5 litre lot of Connoiseur CoCo A that I got at a grow store liquidation auction for $30. Debating whether to use that this grow, but not sure I want to pay full retail for Connoiseur B, do you know if I could substitute the regular advanced Nutrients Bloom CoCo B? Or something cheaper?

One of the good things about Advanced Nutes is their grower help line. They are just fine with giving you cannabis specific answers to your questions. I mean you already paid for the product. Might as well get the most out of it right?
But @bunkerking is right to point you to my post. I see a lot of problems caused by people (including myself at one time) pH correcting PH Perfect nutes. Give them a call. They can explain it in more detail to you.

Thanks. I’ve been looking over your posts. Lots of good info. I had to refill the reservoir today, so I went to just base nutes, no messing with Call/Mag or PH. I’ll add some B-52 later, after a trip to the grow store. That should bring it to where I want the EC.

Right now it’s @ 1.1. PH is at 6.5. Isn’t 6.5 on the high side for CoCo?

IMHO, the commonly stated pH range for coco of 5.8-6.0 is a bit low. I always have purple stems in that range and at 5.7 I start getting leaf fingers curling to the side and yellow blotching. So I’ve messed around with pH the last 5 or 6 grows and I’ve found that a pH range of 6.0-6.5 to be optimal. No purpling or leaf abnormalities. I won’t adjust the pH at all in that range. At 6.6 I’ll bump it back down, and at 5.9 I’ll bump it back up. However, your mileage may vary. I recommend you listen to your plants. A benefit of growing in coco is the ability to quickly reset the medium. If the plant is happy you’re good. If you start to see some symptoms like I described above, note the pH, make your adjustments, flush the coco with the new solution and you’re back in business.

However, this is with Remo nutrients. When I ran AN and stopped pH correcting, my plants improved. I stopped using AN not because they didn’t work. It was because it’s bloody expensive and I didn’t care for the “Jesus take the wheel” approach to my reservoir.

So, it’s been a week since the first pictures. They seem to be filling out well. So my next question is: when should I flip? Is there any tried and true method to determine this? Most of the resources I’ve found are a little vague.

Wow my biggest fear is my light crashing down. How much weight did you have in total do you think for the tent to break? Did it break at the plastic parts? I have a 25lbs carbon filter hanging in the back middle and a 20lbs light hanging with weight spread out from sides to middle and I think the tent is only made for 65 lbs spread around. I had to hook up the can fan on the outside of the tent on its own stand bc total weight was scaring me. My cheap tent scares me bc I have a cmh, would hate for that to come crashing down while powered on.

btw beautiful plants 🌱 :)

I don’t know the weight, but I had a heavy eight inch carbon filter and an in-line fan, along with three LEDs that wouldn’t be much weight. It buckled at the middle support pole, on the side where most of the weight was. All metal connections, no plastic. I replaced it with a Mammoth tent that has much stronger and thicker poles.

This was after I’d pulled everything off of them. Got a refund from Amazon on the tent, so no harm - no foul.

scaryy. I run my fan and filter on the ground outside of my tent. Only holding up about 10lbs in the tent that way. There is just no way id trust anything over 15lbs on my $80 dollar 4x4 tent. Nope. Nope lol.

Man that’s terrible. I’m really about to put my carbon filter outside the tent too but I read that’s the least productive way to scrub smell. I was thinking about buying these to replace the plastic. But if your metal pole completely broke I guess metal corners wouldn’t help much in that case.

meh - i had my landlord over 3 or 4 times with other people with him. never had an issues. Plus its legal in oregon. Just being respectful of the homeowner by keeping smells down.
