Now on to day 1 of veg!

Not much to see here, basically only feeding PH’d (6.1) RO water with 1ml/ liter of calimagic daily.

Day 3: Both plants looking healthy and green seeing growth in both so that is good. Still watering with RO water with a PH today of 6.1 and some Callimagic and terpinator. Only watered them once yesterday and coco still seemed moist this morning. Planting an outdoor bonsai kush xl today.

Day 4: watered this morning with a very mild diluted seedling nute formula found here: https://www.cocoforcannabis.com/how-to-grow-cannabis-seedlings-in-coco-coir/ I will be ramping up the nutes slightly daily for about a week. Other than that they both look relatively healthy, except maybe plant #2 which looks to be a little malformed and perhaps stunted a bit due to the deformity/mutation. Solution strength 450/1170. PH 6.1

Day 5: Watered a lot of RO water with a seedling blend of nutrients upped to 500/1100 and a ph of 6.1. Got a ton of run off so that’s good. Growth is steady and secondary leaves are coming in. Not much else to report, I will check the EC of my runoff later. The rest of the components I need to finish building my reservoir and halo drip system, self draining platter with an automatic pumping runoff bucket will arrive tomorrow. I will post pictures of that as well once I am done with it.

Day 6: 06/06/2021 - Finally checked my run off (runoff was from yesterday oops) it came out at 610ec and 7.01ph. So I fed today with 600/1100 ph’d at 5.89. I am getting well over 20% runoff at about a 1.5l of nutes total for both plants. So from now on I will be feeding a bit less to save some nute money. :) Plant #2 is catching up to #1 nicely.

Update 06/06/2021 : Added in a crude rendition of my auto emptying bucket and self draining pans rig. This is being done mid grow so it is not pretty just yet. But this is all needed before I setup my auto watering system. Basically this auto emptying bucket works by the pans simply draining into the bucket. The bucket contains a submersible auto pump like from an AC unit. And that pumps the water once it is over about 2 inches into my sump. Cross your fingers I hope it works. This also allows me to drop my dehumidifier waste straight down into it.

Day 7: 06/07/2021 - Both plants are putting on some new growth. No where near what I was expecting, but it is growth non the less. I fed with 690/1100 nutes using a diluted seedling formula. PH of 6.05. Plant #1 seems to have a bit pale to me compared to plant #2. I might have to raise a question about that later. Also my new self emptying trays and bucket are working perfectly! This is the last day of week 1 stay tuned for week 2 cheers!

Day 8: 06/08/2021 - growth slowly continues this morning. Fed this morning with a bit higher PH trying to get more calmag uptake. At this point it just feels like a lot of waiting until they explode and giving them what I think they need. :) any advice or comments welcome!

Hey Amok- I am also a first time grower and documenting my grow here as well for the expert advice, and perhaps in the future our experiences will help others!

I am no expert so I may be way off base, but it sounds like (and looks a bit like) you may be overwatering. What kind of soil are you using? If you have a "hot" soil, you may also be over feeding.

I know personally, I have had really restrain my desire to help these plants and have had problems with overwatering. Planting your seedlings in such big pots to begin with makes it even easier to overwater.

I will be curious to see if I learned anything or not when the experts here chime in on your thread.

Anyhow, I will follow your grow and wish you the best of luck!

@SweetLeafGrow

thanks for the post. Looking back at my setup post I did forget to mention that I am growing in a 70/30 coco/Perl mix. I think I am feeding a bit much actually. I had my tds pen set for PPM and not EC when diluting my seedling mix for feeding. Oops! I am correcting this with a flush of 6.3 PH RO water with cal mag between my now corrected feeding. My solution EC is 1300 with the addition of terpinator and diamond nectar. Diluted I am cutting that down to 450-600 for my feedings now with a higher PH of 6.3 until my cal mag deficiency is corrected as well. I was giving them almost 600 ppm before yikes! Thanks for the heads up man I appreciate it! I will look for your grow and follow along as well. Hope I can help in some way as well!

happy growing my new friend!

Day 9: still growing looking good to me so far. Plant #2’s deformities continue though. Her second set of leaves are still only one leaf, looks like the next set are at least three though. Found out I was using my EC pen wrong and did a flush of RO PH 6.3 with calMag yesterday. Also found out my filters for my RO are way old, so ordered more of those. Hopefully they will arrive in a day or so. Other than those two hiccups everything seems to be going pretty smoothly. My self draining bucket is awesome, I have done two small flushes and it handled them like a champ, meaning no syringes or vacuum to get rid of drain waste for me! Woot! One note on this Mars Hydro light. Plant #1 seems to be really pulling toward the middle of it. I have it at about 15-14 above the tops and at 60%. Might raise it and turn it up some to get a better spread perhaps.

I just got three new strains in the mail today.

Tangerine Dream Auto
Blueberry Auto
Gorilla Glue Auto

Also my new Spider Farmer sf4000 shipped and should be here by Friday-Saturday. I might flower under that to make sure I get the best quality I can. I am just hoping it will fit in my tent. According to the measurements it should just barely fit. :)

My plants liked it when my light was at 20" and 75%, same Mars 150w. I also used a little spray bottle to mist the plants, simulating morning dew, etc. And get yourself a calmag supplement, my coco grow started showing deficiencies early, Calimagic cleared it right up.

Good Morning Amok-

I am not sure what the experts here will say about this but in my experience, seedlings like this are very fragile and need to be handled with kid gloves, so to speak. I have been following a guy on youtube (before I found this great forum) called The Grow Tent. His final crop results are impressive to me. His teaching on this topic is to use a fluorescent light for young seedlings but also has done grows with these young plants under a MarsHydro LED where he keeps the light all the way to the top of the tent @ 25% for the seedling stage through the first couple of weeks of veg and then gradually raise the intensity to 100% during the last few weeks of flower. I know a lot of folks would disagree with this, but this is what I have done and it has served me well. I did have to bring my light down to about 3/4 of the height of the tent because my seedlings were stretching some, which fixed the stretching. I think we have the same or similar light, mine is the MH TSW 2000, if I am remembering right. Currently, my light is about 28" from the top of my canopy and I am still only at 50%. Week 2 of flower, I will raise the intensity to 75%, then to 100% at the beginning of week 6 flower. I have been following The Grow Tent guy to a point but have found for my particular situation, I have had to adjust, which I think is a key fundamental. Watch the plants and they will tell you what the need, once you understand their language! Good luck bro and keep up the grow!

Jimmy,

Thanks for the post and advice! I actually pre loaded my coco with calMag prior to planting and feed calMag with every feeding even a flush. :) I think it was a pen calibration/user error on my part later. Live and learn.
Do you see any benefits from misting your plants in the morning? That is something I could build into my auto watering setup that I am currently building.

SweetLeaf,

I am using the TS-1000 150w and currently I am not seeing any signs of light stress or damage. But I will experiment with what you said and look up that YouTube video. I am getting a new light this week for flowering so I am super excited for that as well. It is the spider farmer sf-4000. I appreciate your advice keep it coming!

I believe the TW 1000 is the same light I have, just half the size. I bought one of those for my wife for her tomatoes. 😎
