Yea the reptile UV lamp will really bring on the high temps too. Honestly I tried this as a kid like 20years ago - reptile bulb UV for growing is a no go for me.

Most of the lights are being regulated by a standard that really isn’t the say all in the type of light a plant needs. When you see nm that’s the wave length, freq is measured seconds per, now by all the light experts you need these wave lengths , what ever the red and blue measure, which you are getting with pre fabbed set ups. But I don’t even know if some of the lights you would suggest would have these UV wave lengths, because they have have to stick to the standard. I think if I start putting the plant under a 100w of 3% every day, starting at 5min, upping the minutes through out the cycle, you will get a beneficial result. Not sure though. But PAR and lux are just a piece of the puzzle.

Fun stuff!

I have thought about adding some UV. I just recently upgraded my flower light fixture. Replacing 4 boards with new v2 versions and adding 4, 48 red and deep red at 4:1 strips. What I like about these is I can upgrade and modify as I want. Whatever I don’t use I can sell or build fixtures for friends. If you ever decide your interested I have all sorts of build info.

I like that red one.

That’s the same light I just have the other 9 boards turned off. I run them in two sets of 4 and the middle all on controls so I can adjust intensity and not move the spectrum. I’m running a mixed spectrum between the boards.

if you're gonna spend that much on that junk light, you could spend a little more and get a proper one like @Mr.jiujitsu said. otherwise you'll just spend nearly the same and grow a tiny plant which is why its so small right now. lumens is for humans, par is for plants. if you're into DIY, scope out cobkits.com. Good luck
