It's all personal preference. You might not want much more than 30% amber, just something to think about.
I don't think the dark period will get you anything, but I haven't done an A/B comparison...
There is a ton of info here and elsewhere on the web concerning drying and curing, again much comes down to personal preference. I don't like wet trimming, it can be a real mess, though that was at work where I had to wet trim. You might want to strip the fan leaves and any others that don't have trichomes before you hang them to dry. You need some air circulation to prevent mold while they're drying, which is why I remove those. I kept the temps in the 63 - 68 degree range with as close to 50% humidity as I could. They were ready in eight days to trim and jar. I like it where I can mostly finger trim - the sugar leaves easily break off. I don't go by the stems snapping.
