6/11 Update- Day 4, Week 3 flower.
It's been a busy week behind the scenes getting some major logistic issues solved, mainly temperature and humidity. I have moved the dehuey back and forth inside and outside the tent. Everything
@Aqua Man has said about getting the dehuey OUT of the tent makes total sense and I tried once earlier but gave up too soon. After I moved the dehuey back inside the tent the temps were completely out of control. So I backed up and regrouped. Here is what I did-
Completely blacked out all 3 windows in the room with multiple layers of materials to 100% block all light coming in during lights off hours. This way, I could leave all lower intake vents in the tent open and not worry about 3 hours of daylight we have this time of year both before and after lights out. That solved a lot of the air movement out of the tent with better intake, still not enough though to leave the dehuey inside the tent.
Next, I installed a window fan blowing out in the window next to the grow tent, then took the 8" duct that comes off the carbon filter and inline fan (both inside tent), which was just venting hot air into the room, and taped it to the front of the fan blowing hot air from inside the tent to the outside. This has to come off at lights off so I can close off the still remaining daylight coming through the window. I'd like to figure out a way to leave this in place as it did keep nightime temps up a bit by taking it out, but until I figure that one out, this arrangement seems to be working.
Finally, I brought the dehuey back outside the tent, set it at continuous run and watched the room. We had outside RH at around 50% and several hours later, the room was brought down to give or take 40%. After stabilizing over the next 18 hours, it's settling in around 35% in the room, 39% inside the tent, which I believe is right about where I want to be now at the end of week 4 flower which will be on the 14th.
I also lowered the light to 13" above the tallest flowers and increased the intensity to 75%. Should be able to keep it there for the rest of the grow, will increase intensity to 100% at the beginning of week 6 flower.
I've been feeding with the
Roots Organics Terp Tea trio of Bloom. Microbe Charge, and for the first time this last feeding/watering, the Bloom Booster. I used the recommended dosage on the package and mixed with distilled water and cal/mag, then watered in. The plants are loving it and I see no signs of nutrient burn. I continue to feed/water/feed/water which spaces the feedings out approximately a week apart.
I did some mild defoliation of fan leaves which were blocking light from some lower flowers and some others under the canopy that had wind burnt from the fan. Appears the stretch period is just about over. The two plants in the back stretched quite a bit more than the other two in the front.
I have a pocket microscope coming in the mail and also another fan that I will mount in the tent for better air movement above the canopy. That should be here tomorrow.
Headed down the home stretch and I realize there is still a lot that can go wrong but so far so good. Thanks to all the folks who help folks like me succeed at growing what I am realizing is a very finicky plant!
