This is my expectation and I will test this for everyone to see. I have no dog in this fight my only bias is that I want them to work, but I also want my standard cure to work lol.

Based on all the highly experienced and respected growers saying grove works I fully expect the results to be on par with my current methods. Will they exceed? Will I smell nothing but hay? Stay tuned.

I paid full price for my bags and have zero relationship with the grove company other than this single transaction I posted previously in this thread.

My only concern is how do I smell test objectively?

My environment was 64F and 35% - 40% RH where the bags were left to cure. I would think the issue is the low RH slowly taking all the moisture from the bag. Maybe 50- 60% RH would give better results. But if you can, throw a bag or two in a really dry environment. Here on the east coast it’s dry as fuck in the winter.

Which ones are you getting that are 4.50? I do the build your own variety pack. I find the velvet touch higher quality plastic, but the cheaper ones work just as well really. I find the QP to be the best size for me, HP seems too big, the bottom buds get a bit squished. I'm on my second year, I didn't seal any last year, this year I did. I keep my head stash in jars so I don't have to open all the time. Probably buy new ones next year. View attachment 1319084View attachment 1319083
Don’t forget the Siberia tax

I bitch about the tax we pay in Nova Scotia because its 15% on everything except some food. .....BUT....My wife has had cancer twice & had a Gaul Bladder removed with no cost to us. I've had 2 hips replaced, a dozen broken bones over the years with rods still in place and I didn't pay for any of it,,,,well at least not on the spot..........

.Its the old saying.......You can pay me now ...or you can pay me later....one way or the other your going to pay........

I think about the poor healthy fks who pay and pay and pay without any benefits paid back ......poor saps are getting screwed😁

Well I feel a little better now not being the only guy who dropped over $70 on bags. 🙃

Yeah it's around ~150 every time I Grove Bag up but I usually grab about 60 bags. Worth every single damn penny imo for the twice a year I need to stock up and the amount of product it packages.

Better yet, my local hydro store carries these and I don't even have to pay shipping 🧙‍♂️

My orders are usually big and on the expensive side too considering I don’t reuse the bags. 100 1/4lb bags at a time.

Why is that? I was expecting to, am I making a mistake?
Maybe due to heat sealing? If you go that route, doesn’t that turn them into 1 time use bags? Thats my guess anyway. I’m also planning on reusing mine (though I did order more)

Why is that? I was expecting to, am I making a mistake?
A few reasons. Mainly I don’t like mixing my strains, pheno’s etc because they leave behind their residue which contaminates what is being put in to the bag. For instance I don’t want to pull out my lemon haze that has the resin heads all over it from an Indica I previously had in the bag.

The zip loc feature of the bag works well enough to use them for a stash bag, but they get plant matter in the zip seal over time and don’t completely seal. Not ideal for curing or long term storage unless you heat seal.

I see the advantage of being "set and forget" with these bags but they do seem pretty expensive for what's essentially a limited use plastic item, even if you do get 2 or 3 runs from them. I'm still not sold on the idea of them offering any real advantage over a Gamma container that's basically a $15 one time purchase? The Gamma containers I use typically only require attention for a day or two, depending on how even your dry was, and you can store over a pound of bud easy or less if you want to. Between runs I just wipe them down with 91% isopropyl like everything else. If you were growing for commercial applications the Grove bags would make a lot of sense as you can deliver product in them but for most of us hobby growers the benefits don't seem to outweigh the costs when compared to other options. If I'm missing something please let me know, I'm always looking for new ways to improve.

They can be heat sealed twice.
Definitely more than twice! If you're tight with the seals and cuts you can push 5x.

I'm fascinated how focused people seem to get on price and then completely ignore or don't even include the alternatives for comparison? Humidity packs aren't free. If $200 of Grove Bags a year to cure POUNDS of product are making or breaking your grow costs I don't know what to tell you.

way more than twice at least on the big 1lb bags. there is plenty of room to get at least 4-5 seals from one bag. seal it clean near the top, cut that off, seal the next part. if you do it nice and tight, you can get easily get more than twice imo.

To me it's not that expensive, but i don't buy 40 small bags. spent 20 i think on two 1lb bags. for me it's more of a time saver not using jars. never heard of a gamma container, just looked it up, the advantage over grove bags from this is the tech in the grove bags with gas exchange. there is no "tech" in a gamma containers. it's just a container. For me the costs are very low, lower than buying a bunch of mason jars by themself, even before buying any humid packs or RH meters for each jar if someone goes that route.

I think we would be hard pressed to find a grower who prefers to burp dozens of mason jars daily. The price for each Grove bag seems fair and would be awesome to have if you had to go out of town right after a grow. In the long run the shipping is going to eat at you and it's an additional thing you have to remember to buy. Some might argue that a sealed container is preferable to a breathable one but I really don't know and I'm sure it depends on a variety of variables. The technology information section on the Grove site is down for me right now so I can't really see exactly how they work.

All I know is the last time I weighed my options in that space I was first attracted to the shiny metal cvault containers but I couldn't justify the price. That's how I found the Gamma stuff because I liked the idea of a large, air tight and reusable container for curing but I would definitely be a customer of Grove bags for one off needs just based off of all the positive reviews I've seen on here.

Yeah we have 8% sales tax plus state income tax that starts at 4% and goes up to 11%, plus federal income tax that ranges from 10% to almost 40% depending on your tax bracket and how you file. And universal health care? HAHAHAHA. Americans seem to think it's not doable or are afraid of socialism or something... no problem with making insurance companies and big pharma rich tho... don't get me started on that rant. 🤣

that's all I hear on vacation too, how much we must pay for taxes and how terrible our lives must be blah blah blah. Then they find out how much it costs us to have children comparatively. Or break a bone. Or have a major surgery. My aunt has had 7 hip replacements throughout her life with 0 cost out of her wallet.

Border is open and I know we would love to have a few of you up here, just saying! 🤣
