Grow #2 - Indoor hydro tent

Here's a root picture from White Widow, because who doesn't want to see under the widow's skirt? I'm a perv.

PPM has dropped to 1250, water level dropped as well. pH stable. I'll have to feed them again soon, I think.

White Widow is busting out of the tent...

Wilted leaves on the front are because it has grown up against the tent wall. I'm unsure how much of those leaves to prune back and how much to just let hang.

Overall they both look pretty healthy to me:

White has finally started sprouting little pre-flowers:

They have been drinking faster than eating recently. PPM wandered up above 1600 and the water had dropped a fair amount. I added about 3.5 gallons of water to the rez. Same amount I added about 9 days ago, PPM and pH still stabilizing... but I'm hoping for 6.0/1400.

I also turned the humidifier back on at about 50%. I was seeing the humidity drop to 40% - too low.

Happy Hemp Day

PPM dropped further than I intended (815) but that's not too bad. I'll add more nutes if I see it trending downward much. pH is good at 5.85 and both plants continue to do well. I can really see now how things would probably be easier to manage with a well trained plant and a grid/scrog.

Figured it was time for an updated "full tent" shot.
I moved the light up about 6", can't get it much higher without moving the charcoal filter.

Both plants flowering well, here's a WW bloom:

PPM is up to 1230 today. pH 5.85. Seems a bit weird for the PPM to change so much. I'll keep a close eye on it.

How do you manage your temps in your tent so well?

Well, the ambient temperature here (Alaska) stays pretty low. I have an AC unit that I run sometimes in the hottest days of summer, in general I keep the room about 68F, my home office shares the same room.

To be fair, now that the bloom lights are activated, and the charcoal filter is in the air path, I saw it climb to 80 a few times.

Oh yes Alaska helps lol. I’m in the south and starting a hydro in the summer in a closet without AC was my hydro downfall lol. But my coco is thriving .

You aren't supposed to bake the cannabis until AFTER you harvest it, silly!!

Quick update picture:

Blueberry is making good progress (lower left) but still dwarfed by White Widow.

Res is at 5.9/1450 today. I did some light defoliation yesterday to clean out more useless growth from the underside of the "canopy".

Christmas is a long way off..... <sigh>

White looks a little pissed off today after I attempted to gently guide the limbs into the upper netting:

I may not be the best at being "gentle", kinda have ogre hands. Nothing broken though, I assume she'll be fine in a few hours. I can clearly see now why I should hang the netting very early and let them grow into it.

ph: 5.75 PPM: 1250

I've added a little over 10 gallons back into the res at this point. They are drinking quite a bit, I think it will be time for a res change in another week or so.

PPM kept hopping up, so I did a 50% res change.
Here's a peek at the current state, White Widow still dwarfing Blueberry. Both seem healthy.

Blueberry starting to get a little frosty:

I think I see signs of needing a bigger light.

The bottom right corner is furthest from my blurple wonder and is lagging behind the rest of the plant.

Otherwise, the grow goes on. Happy hump day!!!

New this week: Nutrient deficiency!!

This is the start of week 5 in flower.

I've been fighting the pH/PPM balance lately, I'm sure this is the fallout from it. I did a full res change.

Roots.

I filled the res back a bit lower this time, only 12 gallons, down from pervious 20.

Previously I was targeting 800-1200 for PPM. @Aqua Man , in his gracious wisdom has suggested that is too much food. I added only moderate amount of nutrients to start and will raise them slowly to 600PPM. Reading 250 right now, but I swear that sometimes goes up after sitting for an hour or two....

Black thumb strikes again.

Blueberry is looking like she's going to bear an epic harvest. Might even get enough for two bowls.
I've seen bigger plants grown in a solo cup.

White isn't showing any new damage from nutrient lack. PPM sitting around 550 right now.

They're drinking fairly well, at least 1 gallon down so far today.

Just like everything else in 2020, it's a bit of a shit-show. ✌

Decided it was time for some flower shots for future reference when I look back at this grow... (end of week 6 of 10 for flowering)

Blueberry:

3 x White Widow

Even after the full res change, pH keeps dipping down on me. Not awful, but something seems a bit off. They are still drinking water at a decent rate, so I hope that means no nutrient lock. For now I'm just going to keep making small adjustments as needed and see how things pan out the next few days.
