Hey CJ, when you have time, im wondering if you have any pointers in regards to my set up. Currently in between runs at a new location.
First Run
- 5 ton heat pump/water cooled chiller in a "lung room" cooling two rooms that are flip-flopping every 12 hours
-The AC had a make shift hood-i think they are called- with 12 inch ducting leading to valves that flip flop with the lights, putting the cool air in the appropriate room
-The big room is roughly 14x14 and there were 15 vert 1000 watt bulbs (seemed to keep temps nicely around 78)
-The second room is 10x12 and had 12 vert 1000 watt bulbs and the temps were the same
-Both rooms had 12 inch exhausting into the lung room
-all rooms are sealed (not perfectly)
-NO CO2
Current plan for next run
-Same 5 ton chiller, new (proper) hood with 2 extra 12 inch take offs one to each room, plus the existing 12 inch take off into the 12 inch flip flop ducts
-2 12 inch exhausts in each room to help bring out the heat straight into the lung room (pulling though big can filters)
-hoping to cool 16 lights in each room to have an even 32 light flip
-Burning CO2
Just to clarify, when the lights are on in room 1, the ac has 2 12 inch ducts pushing cool air into the room, and the room has 2 12 inch ducts pulling through a can fan each into the lung room so the room continuously exchanges air.
So this is the plan, last run the ac would ice up if we tried to drop temps below 75, we suspect this was because of lack of return air combined with too small ducting from the AC.
I realize this is asking a shit load out of this ac, but it seemed to do fine with the 15 lights last time, and was running I would say 45% of the time- so we will see. If either room cannot be cooled properly, we can easily turn lights off to adjust. Naturally, we want as much light as possible to take full advantage of our space limitations.

What would happen if a 24v contactor was used on a mini split with 120v coils?
I am wondering if anyone has had any experience with ozone poisioning of plants ... I put a industrial strength ozone generator in my flower room and came back the next day to find it had curled all the fan leaves ... I was horrified at what a rookie move I pulled .. I should have done more research about ozone ... I knew it was harmful to humans and animals in concentrated amounts but didn't know it would kill plants as well .. Does anyone know if the plants can turn around and finish normally ??????????????????????

You guided me on a 10,000 btu Friedrich which kicks tail, you also advised me if I didn't have the extra funds frigidaire is a good brand at a lower price. I have a couple rooms one with the friedrich and the others with a frigidaire, but i noticed the frigidaire leaks allot of water even more so when the temps outside are hot ? It has started to eat at the dry wall. The friedrich doesn't leak any water? Is this an issue because of the cheaper unit or is there other factors at work?
I'm willing to buy another Friedrich if that will fix the issue?

No the units are about 8months old. Now that I think of it I have a new frigidaire in a veg room and it doesn't leak. The units that are leaking are all older than one year old. The Friedrich is going on a year and a half and no leaks. The water does drip from the back grill of the frigidaire's, its not falling in the room but i have it mounted low, close to the ground so a puddle gathers and soaks the drywall. thinking of mounting it higher and catching it in a bucket like my other rooms. I appreciate all you time and wisdom.

can you help me interpret this chart from can fan?I am not sure what "wg" stands for?
Is it "static pressure" or inches of ducting or something like that?

Looikng to make a light trap/stop light leaks from a 12' max fan with the least amount of cfm loss possible..
The fan is between two flower rooms, sharing an ac.
I looked into dust shrooms but they are pretty expensive, but that might be the best route.
I would definitely need two, because I looked at one and it didn't quite do the trick...
Dark room vents seem like they would cut down on flow quite a bit....
I have gotten the temps to level out, but I have a good amount of light leaking between the two rooms. .

I have a 5k btu and a 7 k btu AC both window units. Both old. One from early 90's (5k) and one from the 80's (7k)
Both of them have sat but still run. The run switch on both of them get stuck leaving either unit on or off.
I would like to connect them both to a controller allowing them to cool to a degree instead of a cool cooler basis.
Have looked at a few conversions although I have not even checked my units line voltage that it runs to the run switch.
What would I need to setup a controller to control both my wall units together using a single thermostat. I suppose I could use two Seperate and achieve the same thing but any suggestions appreciated
Yeah, They are old as balls and im almost 100% positive they are line voltage. that being said they would be 110/115.
Im looking for options on controllers, I would not even be apposed to setting up some sort of low voltage circuit and using a digital wall thermostat.
You can get a 2 stage thermostat, 2 contactors, 2 outlets, and a 24 volt transformer. Install it in an electrical box. The stat energizes the contactors one at a time which power up the plugs. If you don't understand this then don't attempt it and buy a controller at hydro store or online. Be vey careful if you attempt this.
