That is too fun. I have a place out near La Jolla that I like to get away to a few times a year. Looks like I got just the guy to call for all of my AC work out there.

I've used that formula in 100F weather here in SOCAL. Air cooling of lights must be done properly. In other words the air u use to cool lights must be from outside room and exhaust it back outside room. Also depends on insulation of room.

Little worried about insulation in ceiling. Normally would want R40 or above on ceiling. Otherwise you should be good. If you can double it in ceiling that will be ok.

Hello, I'm having all kinds of problems with my 48,000 btu mini split, made by YMGI. It's a quad zone 2 1800 air handlers, 1 12000 btu air handler and 1 9000 btu air handler for a total of 57000 btu. I stated out with 48000 and added the 9000 later when my technician said it was capable of operating 4 air handlers. I'm running 11 600 watt air cooled magnum xxxl hoods. 2 rows of 5 hoods air is pulled thru from other side of basement and exits out a dryer vent. Hoods are 8 inch, also running co2 and 3 70 pint dehumidifiers. First my system started Freezing up so I had a tech come out to check things out he found a leak behind one of the air handlers and tightened it up and adds some charge said I would be good to go. That night temps were around 82 degrees in my room I like to keep temps at 72 lights on 62 lights off. What I didn't understand was that temp were fine for about 3 housu then gradually began to rise. Called tech from another company out and he checked everything out and said one of my air handlers was not working properly due to a defective EEV valve and that it would have to be welded in and entire system drained and recharged . So I ordered part. It's been a week and unit is freezing up again. It's driving me crazy. The dimensions of my room are 20x14 x7. I don't know what to do. Would a commercial mini split unit work in my basement? That way I can get rid of all of these air handlers and just have one and some ducting. Thing is this unit worked great all winter long even when it was 10 below zero. It's hard to find anyone knowledgeable about minis here in Michigan. Most guys are still using window bangers. Could it be the control board?

That brand is junk. I've run across a few and they were problems. Yes a residential split will do the job with one air handler and ducting. It must be able to provide cooling at below zero temps.

picked up my new LG 14k btu portable a/c unit (499.99+80.00 ext warranty). gonna install it in a month or so or when the Mi weather turns a bit warmer. now to keep the old 8k btu unit or flip it (has 3yr ext warranty as well).

I left the glass in the hoods this run. next run ill test it out with out the hoods and see if th 14k a/c can keep the room at 75-77*.
