I’d image the kelp (seaweed) washes up on shore during storms.

cut off an inch or two of aloe. Peel off the skin to expose to gooey inside. Mix that into a gallon of water or so.

aloe is a rooting simulator (Great for cloning). You can use it to boost plant immunity. Helps reduce stress. It’s great as a wetting agent for foliar spraying too. It does a lot of great stuff.

Also coconut water! If that is local you can use that. Has a lot of vitamins and minerals. It’s another natural growth promoter.

I think tonight I'm going to start preparing a small fish meal for this stage of the plant, i read the NPK is 10-2-2 which should be what she needs now, I'll do more research when I get back later today.

I was just now reading about fish hydrolysate. There's a good link here: https://smallfarms.cornell.edu/2014... fish hydrolysate, something to eat right away.

Making some aloe spray fertilizer i will dilute it further when I apply it to the plant.

Day #32 since planted

(photo-unknown strain)

Today i decided to transplant her into a much bigger pot, only filled it half way since she's going to be here for a while...

The medium has, rice hulls, styrofoam bits, and wood hips, i drenched the soil before transferring with Aloe Vera water, and i prepared a aloe foliar spray also that i applied after transplant to her leaves, I'm keeping her in the shade for a few hours then I'll put her back under the light for the rest of the cycle (6 more hours)...

I had a little issue transplanting her so I'm going to keep a close eye on her today and tomorrow, when I tried to get her out of the old cup, the medium was so compacted it was basically like cement, shattered into pieces trying to separate it from the sides of the cup.

Her roots where exposed, but i gently placed her into the new medium and covered her roots. Hopefully no damage was done, only time will tell. I'll post pictures of her now and of her tomorrow to compare plant health.

Some of her leaves are droopy but I think that's just from the stress, tomorrow when she's back under the sun I think she will perk up again.

Right on! You got it out of that death trap cup! I don’t remember, was that a feminize seed, or are you just being optimistic? It’s a bitch growing without a back up or a Plan B, or C, or D. keep fighting the good fight!

It's an unknown seed, just regular bag weed, i have no clue what it is, but either way it's a learning experience. I'm happy with whatever for now since I still have a lot to learn and the materials available to me are scarce to say the least. Thanks for the positive vibes once i have compost, proper knowledge, some experience, a light to flower under, and some other small materials like pH meter, i will be able to tackle on actual feminized seeds and even autos for now I'm happy with my unknown, tbh I'm glad I don't know the sex of the plant, ignorance is bliss in this case would really suck if I knew it was female and i ended up killing it because of a mistake.

Always keep in mind one of the cardinal rules or prime directive’s if you are a Trekkie, is, don’t get too attached to your plants! it’s just a plant, and you are in this for the enjoyment of growing it. If growing it becomes too much of a burden, then fuck it! Hope we get to see the sex of her! If you pull this off, you can probably grow anywhere in the world! It’s a lot more fun than growing petunias! No offense to the petunia growers out there. More power to you!

My girlfriend says i do more for the plant than for her i think she exaggerates though, this is literally the first plant of any kind i grow so this is all new to me. If I pull this off and it's male I'm going to smoke the stem and the pollen sacks let's hope it doesn't come to that

Day # 33

Plant looks happy and relatively healthy, i think no damage was done yesterday with the messy transplant.

I'm going to spray lightly top soil more often to keep humidity levels up and keep the soil from heating up too much, it's really hot today so basically an oven in there.

Bottom two leaves are still droopy can't figure out why, should I wait until the cotyledons fall off naturally or do i clip them off?

Im glad the transplant went well. I was worried about that plastic cup too.

Plant looks happy! Don’t be too concerned about the bottom leaves. They may not rebound but the new growth is happy.

I would start applying the LAB to condition that soil. The soil looks a bit clay heavy. With the soil that you’ve collected and are planning on top dressing with; I would add some manure to it and water the soil with LAB and “cook it” until you need it. This will hopefully bring some life into the soil.

Day #45

Unknown genetics and sex (Photoperiod)

I know my little plant is just just a random seed i was able to germinate from bag weed, but why is the growth so slow?

Is this slow growth normal to all photoperiods or does Genetics play a role?

Can it be a lack of nutrients?

I'm wondering because the top of the plant always looks happy and green, but the bottom is always droopy and slowly getting yellowish as the plant develops more leaves. I'm worried it might be stunned growth , i know it's a long shot to grow in these conditions but can I get your opinions? The stem is getting thicker now that i have a fan blowing air close to it.

I have been giving her broken down egg shells mixed into the dirt, everytime i water i add a natural source of nitrogen, the water also has Aloe Vera gel, and LAB.

I keep giving her nitrogen because I'm trying to bring back those bottom leaves. Please let me know if i should stop that.

Also I'm watering slowly on a regular basis 2-3 days but just enough to get all the soil moist, I'm being very careful not to over water.

Please let me know what else i can do, or what should I stop doing of I'm doing something wrong.

Her light cycle is now full day of sun from 8am to 7pm and then the rest of the time under a 6500k T8 light until midnight.

This is the plant at day #45

Measurements are 9cm / 4 inches

Sorry I missed this post until today. I was checking back on this thread because I haven't seen notifications in a while and it WAS pretty active before.

She's definitely getting enough sunlight - I was reading once that six hours (or more) of direct sunlight is the ideal.

I know your dog ate this plant, but for future reference: It could be too much uncomposted organic matter. It costs nitrogen to break things down, and you don't get it back until the microorganisms eating it, die.

The fix in that case would be to add extra nitrogen. The problem is that once you get into flower that excess nitrogen can cause lockout.

Since your dog ate it anyway, this is easier to fix with prevention. If you're doing living soil, be sure that most of your inputs have been fully composted.

Disclaimer: I'm only guessing.

Was wondering what happened also. Sounds like it made it out onto the roof. Lol! Growing close to the equator is rough!

It made it into my dogs mouth, i had put it outside for some sun in the balcony, left to cut up some fish, came back and the plant was completely eaten down to the stem. Plant lasted 45 days, i have been trying to germinate again but the seeds are all infertile because they are bag weed seeds from Cuba. So hopefully I'll be able to restart my post once i get a new successful germination.

I hadn't writing anything here because i was hopeful i would have another plant by now, but so far it's been about 15 germination attempts but nothing.

Sorry. Wasn’t paying attention. Anything we could do to get you some seeds? Or is it too risky?

You can make your own good soil using coconut
Collect coconut husk, take out fiber and lets it dry under sun for 2/3 days. Chop them as small as you can then use a blender to grind it into powder. Soak it into water for 1 hour and drain, repeat it few times. Squeeze it to remove as much water as you can. Dry it all under sun for 1-day et voila.

You can mix it with your soil from the forest 50/50 or eve better as a stand-alone soil.
Is compost, vermicompost and guano available?

I would recommend home made fish amino fertilizer but it take at least 6 month so you can try fish hydrolysate it take 4 weeks only. There is other recipe that are faster, do your homework. There is many other recipes like fish emulsion using sugar cane it will works too and be ready in 2 weeks or so.

Seed from low quality weed, will give you low quality wed, try to put your hands on quality seed.

As you do not have access to ph meter, I would recommend to use rain water in wish you add 0.5 ml of lime juice /2 liters of water it should be a safe.

Start to collect eggs shell to make your own cal/mag.

That said my main concern regarding your grow is the flowering stage T8 tube won’t do the work, well you will get flower but in small quantity and reduced quality. What light are you planning to use to make flower ?

I bought seeds from MSNL in 2016. our local tax-office and national post-office took 9 months to deliver it to me after it landed on our shores. I had given up and suddenly recieved a fashion-magazine with my seeds taped into the middle pages...talk about a sexy foldout!

I'm currently making my own compost, I'm about 7 weeks into it, i know it takes about 6 months but still will be good to have it down the road, i will be getting tons of coconuts to follow your steps and mix it within the soil, sorry i have been AFK for a long time, but all germination attempts have failed with seeds from the weed i get here...

However i have great news, a member from the community here, has gone above and beyond every expectation and has sent me seeds successfully after a first failed attempt. So I'm deeply grateful to him, i can't say who because i would need his permission for that but i am EXTREMELY GRATEFUL! These are the seeds he sent me, i will grow first a photoperiod fem haven't decided what strain tho, i don't want to grow an auto yet since I'm still missing a lot of basic growing materials, like nutrients, humidifier, nets, i will be buying them this week and sending them next week to Cuba. So that i can start my own little proper grow op

I do have a grow light now, it's a ViperSpectra I'll post here the picture from Amazon. Let me know your thoughts.

I will germinate one of the new seeds soon, hopefully next week when the new stuff I'm going to get from Amazon arrive.

Once i have my set up and everything in order, I'll will start a new diary thread.
