hey there g

you are doing an awesome job bro !! Sorry i dont have time to read every post so dont be upset if i am asking questions already answered.

1 what strain bro

2 talk to me about your a/c unit inc. cost please. is this unit like a portable that throws the hot air out a tube in the back outside?

any and all perticulars please and thank you.

1 dont rush out and buy anything (res;s) until after i finish my thread and can justify telling peeps to spend money on them. I will be able to give more details also.... (light above every plant or not) stuff like that.

btw, you should train all your branches outside the cages and as they continue to grow put some zip ties so they will stay at the cage... practice is all.

All good DD's I understand that you are a busy man....

The strain is ReCon (LA Confidential x Cannadential) by DNA genetics.

I started with 36 seeds turned out with 22 fems flowered those out and killed off roughly half the pheno's on that go around. Then through the next few rounds I whittled it down to one clone.... my S pheno as she was labeled.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
First off here is a link to my AC and spec sheet KWIKOOL 5 ton A/C
The unit is a Kwikool air cooled 5 ton A/C. It has a condenser that is fully sealed from the cooling side, it is cooled by a 3000cfm fan pulling air through 18" ducts. The front duct in the unit is the "in" the back duct on the unit is the "out." It pulls air from inside my ballast room, to keep that room cool, then across the condenser and exhausts into a large garage, heating it quite nicely in the winter months. It has an auto drain on the condensation pan and comes with a 5 gal external tank to hold water, I have mine plumed directly into a drain so no need to keep emptying the container.
The cooling side runs on a separate 2000cfm fan, running 2 - 10 inch ports. I have mine ducted into 8" insulated ducting with 4 opening for air to come out, I do this to spread the air more evenly rather than have my cooling coming from 1 spot. It also has a 20 x 24 x 1 filter in the front.
It runs off a 50amp breaker w/all proper wiring connecting it of course. I also have a 50amp fuse box like is used for installation of out-door units in line just before power goes into the unit. It takes 8.8 kWh at full power.
I went with this unit because of 2 reasons,
1: Its pretty much plug and play, no coolant lines to worry about.
2: No out side unit turning on and off with my light cycle hinting to people in the know what is inside.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I have decided that I wont buy res's until after my 1st run with the 13Dawgz just so I can get a base run in, then start to mess with things again.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks for the tip! It seems that how you cage your plants up has a ton to do with final yields. I used an inner cage on a grow pulling branches out and under the rung they grew naturally through and doing this cut my yields in half, totally spindly and lanky plants with no weight at all.
Thanks for all your help getting me here any more Q's throw them my way
Old pic of my ac before I ducted it through the room. Notice the large in and out ducting on the top of the unit.
very sweet, never even considered these units b4. If you dont mind me asking what did you pay for that bad boy?
Just to be straight also, there is no air being sucked out of your flower room right?
Correct there is no air exchange at all from my room :)
I paid just over $6,000 and with shipping charges and they had to use a lift gate truck it ended up being around $6,500.
THIS UNIT IS HEAVY
It weights over 500lbs so take that into consideration as well.
This is a very interesting angle giddeon, I've also noticed my fattest colas and branches were all being supported by the cage from very early on in cycle. The branches that were pulled under the rung in order to open up the plant to more light definitely lost size and yield, though it never really occurred to me that might be the problem. Nice insight.
^^ The reason I caught it is because I used the pull out technique one the whole plant, all the way up. Sso every branch lost yield and made my room look like a f'n trainwreck. Every branch that was pulled out had roughly 2 - 4" more internode spacing than the other plants.
What are you using for reservoirs? I noticed people (dizzle and lost) using tough boxes from the depot, but the lids on these look like a pain in the ass as far as light getting through and sealing properly with the bucket (criss cross). I know DD was using the 15 gal res, and I have the link for that, but I see what you have are not those.
KWIKOOL looks pimp, and exactly like what I need. Is the 5 ton you have water cooled or air cooled? I am starting a setup in a 13 x 18 room with 8 1000's and 11 plants. It will be my first run in this type of system.
Have you ever had a bulb explode from moisture in the air? I was about to go with bare bulbs, and a very knowledgable friend said to use cool tues because water could react with the bulb in a very bad way (explosion), but I read through DD's threads (like 5 times) and he just hangs em like you do. Farmer Jon has cool tubes on this crazy grow he is journaling, but cool tubes... cant really be moved... huge drawback it seems.
No I have never had a bulb explode like that on me, I have even had the humidity up to 85% with a 10" cola laying on the 1k HPS and all that happened was the bud burnt to shit and it smelled like vaped weed in the room.
Here is a link to the bins I use, very solid no light leaks at all. http://www.globalindustrial.com/p/s...ipping-container-without-lid-23-1-2x15-1-2x12
What do you mean overkill ;) Seems to me that the guys not double stacking lights where possible and who have been battling high temps because their A/C isn't big enough are just plain lacking in their grows.
Thanks! Probably one of my best runs to date, quality wise.
Hoping to see nothing under the 3.5 mark this run, even with a shitty veg before transplant. Lets keep our fingers crossed. One plant out of the 6 concerns me a bit since it fell over into the cage early on and one side of the plant is heavily caged, the other hasn't reached the cage ever. But she still has some weight to her.
gotta watch out for the plants leaning, the ROCKwool isnt a sturdy as other mediums so when it gets wet and the plants are real big and heavy, they and rip a lot of roots right at the base of the stem where it meets the rockwool causing the plant to take a serious hit in size
Thanks DIZZ, Luckily this one just grew totally sideways into the cage it didn't really fall over so no root were torn, but definitely a good heads up.
