WOW!!!

Those are some monstrous beauties you have there.

I can not imagine how long it's going to take you to prep those girls for drying unless you have a bus full of friends you can trust.

Please be sure to post some picture's of the finished product please, should be interesting to see how it ends up.

Put in a pair of 6' x 24' bed last season to try out. Each bed has two 'holes' (2 or 4 cuts or seeds planted together, like in the other pics). Really like how the extra big beds preformed compared to the 6 x 6 beds I've been running before. They grew faster and got larger, despite the new spot getting less sunlight than where the 6' x 6' beds are. When it comes time to re-do the beds at the other spot I think I will put in a pair of 6' or 8' wide by 42' long beds to do 3 plants/holes each in. I really believe that the more space you give a plant, the faster it will grow and the bigger it will get, hence the performance increase with the large, long beds.

First three shots is of more Kush Cleaner / Long Bottom Leaf / Heart Attack Kush. This is probably the biggest bed I've grown so far, at least for physical size. Hard to get an exact measurement when they are this large, but she is approximately 12' tall, and 16' wide along the south-west face and about 12' wide along her other axis.

Fourth shot is of the bed that has the two Mendo Pineapples in it, you can sort of see the Kush Cleaner on the right poking up behind them. Fifth shot is looking down the center isle of the garden. The two Mendo Pineapples are on the right, on the left is the Guava Kush (which suffered some broken tops from the last rain) with the Kush Cleaner behind it.

I actually run a pretty small crew for harvest. Just myself, one family member, and 2 or 3 friends. We just work hard and do long days to get it done. Usually try to knock out a harvest in just a day or two so everything dries at the same rate. With a few people helping me, I can just clip all day long while everyone else breaks it down into workable pieces, remove the fan leaves, and hangs it to dry.

Most are either doubles or quads. I like to plant either two or four cuts or seedlings right in the center, so I've got multiple main leaders to pull off to the sides. Helps create a more even, filled out canopy and maxes out the yield for the amount of space. Also helps ensure all the beds produce well, if something goes wrong and there is just a single plant in the bed, you can end up with an empty spot in the garden. I actually had continual problems with fusarium in the garden this year, several plants were stunted due to it. Really sucks, my Lemon Jack bed was looking like it was going to be a record-breaker, but it will only produce abut 75% of what it could have now...

Real similar to the way I do it. This season I bumped it up to 4 in most of the holes. I also pull them out to the sides and let them fill in. I even plant my starts sort of laying down. I got double digits in a couple of holes. First time for me. I got lucky and made it again with no significant rain. I only had a little hortanova trellis holding them up. A lot of leaners right now! LOL. Props on your garden! You get a lot of leaves yellowing in the center from the lack of light? Do you cut your water back in September? I got a little Boytritis this season. I think it was from upping my water schedule and forgetting to cut it back.

Yeah I definitely get yellowing leaves and sometimes even little branches in the center due to lack of light. I keep the insides cleaned out as best I can but it's almost impossible to get all of them. It's also very strain dependent as well, the structure of the plant makes a big difference. For example the Mendo Pineaple cut has a very open, lanky structure and usually requires very little thinning and pruning, and even the center of the plant still gets light. The Blueberry x Northern Lights however grows just a huge mess of little useless leaves and branches on the inside and has to be pruned every 2-3 weeks to keep the inside clean.

I do usually cut my water back towards the end of the season, but this is weather dependent. I'm out there every day with my hands in the dirt to check the moisture level and keep an eye on the weather and adjust accordingly. I did have my water backed off to about half of what it was during the end of summer, but these last two weeks we've been having insanely hot weather (it was 99 yesterday) so now they are back up to using almost as much water as they were during summer.

We have had a bit of boytritis as well but I think we have it under control now. We got rain followed by intense heat, which is IMO about the worst possible weather combo you can get to finish off the season.

Consider making them a little deeper, too. If for no other reason than better resistance to drought stress. Looks FANTASTIC out there!

I plan to add another 2x6 to the beds for next season which would bring them to 3' total depth - 2' above ground and 1' below ground. I've noticed that the beds have settled a bit over the seasons, you can barely see the lower 2x6 on most of them now.

I use a Trim Pro Original to get the water leaves off as we harvest. So long as you are gentle with the buds and have a careful and competent operator the resin loss is very minimal. If you are really rough with the buds and press them into the grate, they definitely get beat up though. Everything gets hand-trimmed to finish it, I really do not like the automatic trimmers.

My hands are killing me right now. Most guys are watching porn I on the other hand am jerking it to youtube vids of the twister t4 lol got to get that thing trim almost looks like its hand trimmed. Also have the trimmer you have but it always seems to just beat em up pretty bad.

Like I said, you have to be careful if you are going to use a trim pro - you want to do just a quick, gentle roll over the grate. Don't press or shove the buds into the grate, let the blade do the work for you, and be sure to keep it clean. I was pretty skeptical of even using one to remove fan leaves at first but we did a side by side test and the end results looked no different. Definitely cannot say the same with any of the twisters and other auto trimmers, buds done in that have an unmistakable look. Plus you have to dry on screens or baskets if you go that route, which beats the buds up even more. Here's a few shots of last years crop that were done with the trim pro for the initial harvest then finished by hand:

I'd only do that if it was the chick in your avatar. Things are great though trimming several lbs in an hour ;) would be awesome.

I use racks anyway. All the vids I see of the twister looked good when they rolled out however never seen one in person.

Last of the main harvest should be done this week. The big Long Bottom Leaf was starting to get a few moldy spots here and there so we had to pull it in a few days ago. She wasn't as yellowed out as I like to see, but the weather isn't going to let us leave plants out much longer due to all the rain. The Mendo Pineapple was nice and ready though - lots of yellow leaves and the trichs were about 25%-35% amber which is what I find to be ideal. It will be nice to start wrapping things up, it's been a long and stressful harvest.

Took a few pics of the LBL before we started to harvest it. Should have some finished bud shots to share before too much longer as well.
