The process of growing frequently is far more addictive than consuming it ... although that's a lot of fun too.Thank you for the advice I want to do a whole photosynthesis grow next grow I'm still in the process of ordering more seeds! Yes I have an addiction
It's the first time I have seen something like this. "XXL's" or "fast" strains are always F1's and earlier attempts had a lot of trouble but over time these genetics have become stable for the most part ... I've been running these inside for a while without issue. However, I'm aware there is always a first time. The ones I am growing now are outside. Many variables are out of my control.i am currently decreasing hours slowly, now riding at 12/12 for a few weeks than lower a bit more till finish..

I can understand that outside growing consists of many challenges I go crazy but I'm learning so much at the same time so I guess I'm not really dependent on yield but more on knowledge to become great! The process of growing frequently is far more addictive than consuming it ... although that's a lot of fun too.
In the podcast with Dr. Bigbee, he mentions the effect of far red and deep red right at dark. Apparently these reds together help your plant go to sleep and wake up quicker. That's kind of a nutshell way of saying what @Aqua Man is beginning to touch on ... the effect that different light waves have on your plant.
In theory, adding those "Emerson effect" boards should trigger these responses. In reality ... how well I do still is boiled to how closely dialed I have the grow. Each grow has its challenges and I haven't had a perfect one yet. Lots of success but not a perfect run ... at least not yet.

Growing weed is very addictive! Consulted for a Chef that had gotten injured on the job and could no longer work in the kitchen. He was using weed for pain relief and insomnia. Built out a 40 ft container and delivered it to his home. He lived on 5 acres of land. Consulted his first grow. After we harvested and cured he told me he would spend countless hours just sitting inside the container looking at the girls contemplating life. He said it was the most zen thing he'd ever done and thanked me for helping him find his balance!Thank you for the advice I want to do a whole photosynthesis grow next grow I'm still in the process of ordering more seeds! Good thought I bet your right that's how they discovered marijuana supposedly they seen cows eating it and called it Loco weed kinda like jimson weed deviels flower etc.. animals discovered alot without us dying so I'm sure many years later that's how they learned or just like us experiments!Natural lighting scheme. Nice!!!
Have you seen improvements in the gradual decrease in light availability?
Whenever I get questions about growing I always tell people to just follow what Mother Nature does. That's where I got the idea about sunrise/sunset lighting. I had zero empirical evidence for it. Just thought if MN does it there must be some genetic predisposition that has evolved in plants to take advantage of that.
Tricks like topping and stuff probably came from people seeing deer and other animals eating the top shoots of plants and noticing later how the plant grew "differently".
Interesting good read because if you think about natural sun it doesn't go straight to 12/12 it tempers down slowly!i am currently decreasing hours slowly, now riding at 12/12 for a few weeks than lower a bit more till finish..

How long has it taken for you to go from light schedule switch to actual visual pistil formation using the 14 hour photo period? I get that each pheno is different but an average time frame. Would it be advisable to first go to 12/12 to pop the pistils faster, then, switch to your 14/10 schedule and do 1/2 hour decreases weekly or does it pop in the same time so no need to go 12/12 from the outset?i am currently decreasing hours slowly, now riding at 12/12 for a few weeks than lower a bit more till finish..

Correct exactly what he said and I tested and it’s true no difference in sunset and sunrise to full right on as they are growing and doing there thing with light son and off anywaysActually Bruce Bugbee says that sunrise/sunset features in a grow light doesn't do much for the grow. He's stated that there is no evidence suggesting that the instant flash of light when the lights come on stresses the plants. I toyed around with the idea of purchasing a master light controller to do this until I watched his podcast. @Anthem told me it was a must-see before purchasing an item that I don't really need.
@Aqua Man stated there's benefit to using red/far red at dawn and dusk. I've got 8 grow daddy lights and several smart outlet timers. I think I'll be setting up my growdaddy lights on a different timer or different outlet and having them come on 10 minutes before and stay on 10 minutes after my grow light turns on/off during my fall indoor run. Lets see if it makes any recognizable changes in flowering patterns and yield.
I am playing around with it as wellThe process of growing frequently is far more addictive than consuming it ... although that's a lot of fun too.

You also probably avoid the yellowing/lime growth after a drastic flip to 12/12Natural lighting scheme. Nice!!!

I'm sure that's true. Gardeners and orchardists also generally understand that pruning (i.e., injuring) fruit trees and many other types of plants causes them to produce better fruit. Topping, removing leaves and branches, etc. certainly does harm a plant. I have read about this effect in gardening books and have found it to be true for my apple and plum trees.Tricks like topping and stuff probably came from people seeing deer and other animals eating the top shoots of plants and noticing later how the plant grew "differently".
I enjoy it, too. I just like the peaceful feeling I get from breathing in the air surrounding my plants. Maybe it means they like me. I'm sure pheromones, or ectohormones, are involved. I have wondered for a long time if they affect animal and human behavior. I don't know but it seems likely, as we all evolved on the same planet.Consulted his first grow. After we harvested and cured he told me he would spend countless hours just sitting inside the container looking at the girls contemplating life. The yellowing is also partially due to the explosion in growth rates… so not something to worry about if the leaves green up as they photosynthesize. You also probably avoid the yellowing/lime growth after a drastic flip to 12/12
Upper growth needs time for nutrients to pump up
See it alot when people flip to 12/12 in one night
Not well. Green at extremely low intensity is not a risk but put a green flood light on em and it can beIf there is anything I've learned in the short time growing these plants, its that more, more often that not, does not equal better.
Something else I'm curious in is how well do plants handle random light exposures (light leaks, etc.) during flower.
I took all my light bulbs from outside nobody gonna turn any lights on my girlzNot well. Green at extremely low intensity is not a risk but put a green flood light on em and it can be
Maybe a challenge would be good on this for people who have grown under 12/12 make the same exact grow but change light settings to see who's yeid gets way bigger than the first! It would be very interestingIt makes sense that the extra hour of light would result in a greater harvest, but I've never done a side-by-side, and when I just tried it for a grow, I couldn't tell that it was any larger than under 12/12
I'm thinking of putting together a PowerPoint lecture and showing it to my plants. Maybe that will convince them to produce more when I do something that makes sense to me.
