I sure hope they use WA as an example on how not to set things up. My wife and I have already talked about moving over the river if they get things right! The OLCC would be well served by hiring people that actually know how to start a new business as well as know how and what it takes to be a successful grower. I have spoken with countless license app holders here in WA that have lots of money but not a clue on how to run a business or grow anything. Every one of them seems to think throwing enough money at it will make it work. And on the far other end of the scale, the best growers I have spoken with have no clue on running a business and all that it entails, especially the traceability aspect.
There are a few(one a member here) that are doing well and weaving their way through all the obstacles the State, Counties, and Cities, have managed to throw up along the way and it's been great to see them survive the poorly handled start.

@Coir All these regulations and stuff... Par for the course bro. Liquor, cigarette, medicine, beer, food processors all have to jump through bureaucratic hoops to be licensed. It strikes funny nerve because we have all been ninjas for so long and this legal mumbo-jumbo is counter to our comfort zones.

competition should lead to better quality as most our dispensaries in eugene have absolute total bullshit "medicine" on their shelves now. like 4 yrs ago's outdoor. its sadd.

It's either his weed on the shelve. Most likely there not good at paying so no good vendors will use them. For sure some good weed in Eugene

The dispensaries here that I have been to have far better quality than the retail stores and the prices are 1/3 as well. The "legal" market has along way to go still. I saw that some outdoor guy from Spokane was holding an auction for over 1000lbs of his first 502 crop today. It will be interesting to see what he gets for it and how the quality is. A ton of the outdoor crop has failed lab testing and has not provided the huge influx of "cheap weed" everyone was predicting. All the speculators have been really amusing as things have played out. No matter how hard they try and wish things into existence, it still doesn't happen!

I saw that too only it said he had 400 lbs on my news station. thats crazy auction right? I think prices will sky rocket and it might not be quality that nw dispensarie gets

The buyers had to be licensed I-502 processors. You can't sell to anyone else as a producer. Some producers also hold a processors license and can then package and sell to the recreational retail shops. From the article I read, it sounded like this was going to be bulk lots to processors only. They would still need to be dried and tested before being sold. The lots that don't pass inspection are still able to be sold to processors to be turned into oil and other refined products. The auction article did not say if all of this had passed inspection or not.
I can't imagine he got top dollar or that the product would be of really high quality. If it was "top shelf" then he would not have to auction it off.

What I saw on the news and heard on the radio were both the same. It's already been tested, will be sold in 10 to 100 lb lots, total 500 lb and estimated to bring $6,000,000. An auction doesn't really say anything about quality most agricultural products are sold at auction. The radio quoted the guy as saying he hoped to break even. If that's the case he must be buying those 6oz water bottles and paying union guys to water his crop with them.

500 lbs fetching 6 million? $12,000 a lb.......... Im in the wrong state..

I just heard that the sales were $300,000 which is nothing for an entire season of a tier 3 grower. Doubt there was much profit in that at all after cost to grow, cost to setup the operation and of course, the states cut!

Tbey covered it last night the news said for his 400 lbs he got 750,000 no bs i thinks thats damn good auction bids started at 3 bucks gram and he aalso grew 14 pounds of high cbd no thc bud for people who need it. i think thats a badass days work although his weed did not look like anything ive seen here..

I have heard 5 different amounts for both weight and $ sold for. The media can't seem to get it straight! But at somewhere around 2K/lb for what I saw, he did pretty good. Certainly nothing like we see in the photo and grow log area here as far as quality.

2k a lb for outs?Id be jumpin for joy and im sure its not even first class outies either otherwise no auction would be required.Legalization might just be the thing needed to give the black market a big shot in the arm,If they can get 2k for low- mid outies what is a lb of indoor dank worth on the street?

Wow they must be hard up ...up there .... know someone has a 10 million facility still no harvest...they put alot of bull in that measure just to comply ... go big or go home .... hope Oregon is better
