So it is smart asking questions. It's the problem without knowing a business from the bottom how can you trust " talkers " with millions on the line.
The $$$ men worry about 1 thing, yield per sqft. / cost. What looks good on paper ..... gulp.
Thanks bro. The biggest problem is that there are not a lot of people who do have the experience with large scale commercial grows and trust me we are small, small in comparison to some I have seen. Just trying to get all points covered. Regardless the grow team will prefer 1000watt over the 600's so why fix it if ain't broke. I do however plan on getting a research and development license that will give me the freedom of trying out any lighting options available and being able to write off the cost. So once we are up and running I'll be keeping a fairly detailed log on what we are doing in the r and d room.would def go the 600s with yer setup bro. coverage over penetration. fewer 1ks will be brighter at points, but fail at the edges.
anyway, i reckon yer doin the right thing askin question. no question is a dumb question imho. better to ask n learn than to be too proud n make a grave mistake. that said, ya really wanna already know what er doin before jumpin into a op that big with so much ridin on it. theoretical knowledge is all well n good, but it will never compare to experience.

Hey six thanks for your input. Saw your pics that you posted. Very nice sir! Very nice600 are in theory more efficient as in lumens per watt.but big plants need big lights imo so if your growing plants over 5 feet tall go with the big lights.if your growing short stuff and trimming off the bottom branches you can do real well with 600's and get about 30" of productive canopy.

My buddies neighbor hit colo with 1M lost every penny / 4yrs went thru 3 growers per year, .....
Can you buy replacement bulbs for the gavita other than from gavita? They claim the bulbs can go for as long as 2 years but they aren't air cooled. Yeah they do claim the ballast are somewhat cool to the touch but the bulbs must be hot as hell. If I'm running 50 of them with no vented hoods I'm gonna be spending a fortune in a/c. Also the gavita's have the ballast attached to the reflector so I'm not sure how the flip box thing would work?? Obviously they must have the more traditional ballast/reflector combosIMO, 2 rooms with 1K Gavita's on a custom flip box is the way to go. Thanks for making me daydream for a minute!
LOL,You dont have a clue do you?I appreciate all the responses (good and bad)
I will set up a journal and share it here for any and all interested parties.
To those who say I have no clue what I'm doing you may be right but probably wrong. When I set out to build my first 10,000 sqf house people told me I was crazy and had no idea what I was doing. 19 months later it was featured in house and home magazine..........
I'm terms of what smarty pants?LOL,You dont have a clue do you?

I made 70k when I was 17. LmaoYou can run 600 or 1K thats not the point. Either system can bank $$$$.
Now figure out the other 45 variables that change with other changes ..... Every move you make changes 15 other things .... More fans less humidity ect ....
Buy a Dunkin Donuts & make 70K a year and be happy ....
