If you decide to give your setup another run, I recommend 2 changes to actually get the plants off the ground and gets some roots flowing to actually build up the ability to receive the nutrients. Add a lid to the net pots the roots are catching light which will slow down the process and add a big air stone into the bucket to keep water suspended in the air in the bucket for the roots to have something to keep them moist and give the roots a reason to extend and search. I also agree with the others that mastering soil growing would be highly recommended before you jump into hydro which adds in another few dozen variables. Nice job not giving up though and hang in there you will get it figured out. Ton of super knowledgeable folks in here, be open to advice and always double check advice when possible

I have a very similar 3-bucket system that I also built myself.

I run in a 2x4 tent with the whole reservoir and feeder head assembly outside the tent.

A lot of the other commenters are right- your roots need to be in something for this kind of a setup. I personally use rockwool cubes. I also have floraflex flood and drip emitter trays that totally cover the top of the rockwool from light to help control algae.
Keeping light off the roots is very important.


It seems like you’re trying to mash together two or three growing methods.

I add enzymes practically every L. EnzyMonk or Zyme & problem solved. Fatman didn't encourage h2o2, he used bleach occasionally. Cheap. Occasionally 1-4 drops per gallon. hth
